After a 6-2 trouncing of Ottawa, the Canucks continue their eastern swing and face the struggling Leafs in a prime-time match-up Saturday nigth. A convincing win over Pascal Leclaire and the Sens improved the Canucks' road record to 3-4-1, just one game below .500 but compared to the Canucks' home record of 6-0-1, it's like Jekyll and Hyde all over again. Last year, the Canucks had the league's best home record (30 wins, tied first with Washington) but was among the worst on the road among playo
After dropping a 2-0 decision to the Montreal Canadiens, the Vancouver Canucks needed to regain some road swagger, and found it in the Nation's capital.
Having run into a hot goaltender two nights previous, the Canucks were focused on working together, finding ways for everyone to contribute. All four lines were able to do just that, underlining the fact that, when everyone contributes, good things happen. It could be argued that Vancouver was fortunate that the Ottawa Senators, winners of
Well crap! The hatin is on CDC once again. I mean why the badmouthing of Rypien??? Ive seen worse, ohhave I seen worse, and he's obviously a inspirational player in his teammates eyes(look what Hank said about him after the Minny incident). Look what happened after that game. Winning streak. Look what happened tonight against Ottawa. Canucks lackluster in the 1st, lucky to be tied, Rypien get into a donnybrook with Carkner and BOOM! team goes into another gear. Coincidence?? Nah.
It's been a while since I've blogged in this space. Hope I still remember how. Thought I'd share my thoughts on what I think the All-Star Game format should be.
<img src="http://cdn.nhl.com/canucks/images/upload/2010/05/may0310_hawks19_t.jpg" class="imageFloatLeftFramed">So the NHL is changing their All-Star Game format to let captains pick out their teams. I like it. It's novel, it's unique, and as far as I know no other league has tried it before.
But what I'd really like to see is

It's been a bit crazy for me the last 2 weeks, so I haven't been able to put together a new CCC (I'll be doing one next week).
In the meantime, I invite you to look at my 2 videos that won prizes in the Ultimate Canucks Search in 2007 and again in 2008.
Combining hockey and Japanese poetry, The Ultimate Canucks Haiku has over 28,000 hits on YouTube and has been featured in national newspaper, local tv, on the Rogers Arena Jumbotron.

So just a little while ago I saw a link to NHL.com 's facebook page, where you can vote on who you think the 5 hottest teams in the NHL are right now. I had a hard time picking just five teams, so I figured I would post who I feel are the 10 best teams in the league so far this year:
Just in case you don't make it all the way to the bottom, leave a comment and let me know what you're thinking! Who do you think is worthy of the #1 spot? Where do you think the Canucks should rank?

There is no doubt that the post-lockout NHL is a much more exciting game to watch on TV. Players are faster and stronger and the rules have catered to a more offensive game to open up the ice. There's more room and leeway for players to fly across the ice at top speed. The only problem is that it has resulted in more bad decisions, more concussions, more bad hits, and more suspensions. Gary Bettman clearly doesn't get it - the fail proof way to successfully market the game is to make sure the wo
With their first road win in five tries Tuesday in Edmonton, Vancouver is looking to gain momentum on the road in Denver tonight.
Satisfied to come away with two points and their first road victory of the season, the Canucks edged out the Oilers 4-3. After building a 3-0 lead, Edmonton kept chipping away, while the Canucks eased off the offensive throttle. The young Oilers club hustled, and out-worked a Canucks club that has to continue to attack in order to be successful. Certainly, havin
Given that my picture is on the front page of the Canucks website, I feel obliged to make a new blog post!
Where to start, where to start... I guess all I've been thinking about for the past 16 hours is how the Canucks managed to blow a 3-0 lead against the Oilers, of all teams. Let's face the facts. Edmonton is not as good of a team as Vancouver. There is no way you should give up that kind of lead against a team like that. You can say all you want about "blah blah, there's so much parity in
Posting a technically solid 39 save shutout, rookie goaltender Riley Gill sparked the Victoria Salmon Kings to their first victory of the young 2010-2011 season. His road to Victoria has taken him from Minnesota high school hockey, the far flung Jr A NAHL, plus college and pro hockey in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Two seasons with his hometown Northfield HS Raiders resulted in "all-conference" honours. Riley Gill next found himself in the NAHL with the Texarkana Bandits. As noted in a recent Victoria N

The Canucks have looked good this past week, picking up 5 out of a possible 6 points in their last 3 games. A large part of the team's success is its secondary scoring, proving a much needed "shot in the arm" for the team.
Another shot in the arm will be the much-anticipated return of Alex Burrows. His return will have a trickle-down effect on the rest of the roster, and will undoubtedly make the team stronger.
I also include footage of the first Ring of Honour honouree: Orland Kuterbach -
**EDIT** I have posted some new entries in my blog -- see them all HERE.
Hi everyone!
First things first, my name is Matt. I have lived in the prairies all my life, but I have been a Canucks fan ever since I was little. I grew up idolizing Trevor Linden, Kirk McLean and Pavel Bure. I wasn't around to watch Kurtenbach and the gang in the 70s, so I guess I'm a little new-school. I think I'll start off my blog with a few of my favorite Canucks moments. Some of these are legendary, and some m

The Vancouver Media.
While they're serving the public and the information is in demand, they sometimes cross the line and/or dwell in the negative. Either by making up stories, misreporting them to serve their agenda or by merely exposing what the Canucks would like to keep under wraps.
While a story is a story, they sometimes forget about the effect the story might have on the team that is in fact their main source of income in this town.
If they say it all has little to no effect on
In celebrating the Vancouver Canucks' 40th anniversary, this season the club has introduced the Ring of Honour, an exclusive club of four members whose contributions to the franchise will be recognized. Since the club's inception in 1970, the franchise has seen its fair share of up and downs but through the good times and the bad, the Canucks have had its fair share of hockey heroes. On October 26, 2010, when the Canucks played host to the visiting Avalanche, Orland Kurtenbach, the franchise's f

In celebration of their 40th season in the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks are inducting their greatest players of all time into the Ring of Honour.
Four decades in the making, newly named Rogers Arena (formerly GM Place) is becoming a place of legend and hockey lore. Beginning October 26th versus the Colorado Avalanche, the Canucks will induct former great players into the Ring of Honour, forever canonizing them in the chronicles of Canuck greatness. The very first inductee is none other than

"Did you see what Rick Rypien did last night?"
"Yeah."
"What did you think?"
"I wish he knocked that guy out."
"Really?"
"Yeah really. That guy was a stupid idiot!"
"So, do you think he should get suspended?"
"No! I think he should get bumped up to the first line."

A brilliant Wednesday greeted the VSKBC travel group as the fourth annual road trip to Idaho began. This time Marty would join us for photo ops. Boarding the 5 pm ferry, it was a leisurely sunset cruise through the Gulf Islands. Before we knew it, we were passing the Peach Arch monument and entering the maze that awaits entrants to the USA. Tradition demands that we spend time searching for a Hagen’s outlet in Bellingham, a group of late night supermarkets to purchase snacks and drinks for the r
