Was Alex Burrows' goal good or not? It really depends on which team you're rooting for really because even as a die hard fan I thought the call would've gone either way, but because Mike Leggo originally signaled a no-goal, his original call stands.
In the NHL rulebook, Section 5, 39.4 (iv), it clearly states that:
"Puck directed or batted into the net by a hand or foot or deliberately batted with any part of the attacking player's body. With the use of a foot/skate, was a distinct kickin

For the second consecutive game, the Vancouver Canucks had referee Mike Leggo assigned to their game after refereeing the Washington Capitals game in which he called a questionable unsportsmanlike penalty to Tom Poti for making a diving hand gesture. Then he proceeded to call a penalty shot on the Canucks after Canucks defenceman hauled down Alexander Semin on a partial breakaw

Many fans would expect this to be an easy win for the Canucks. Our recent track record however, concerns me.
I expect this game to be a hard fought battle, and contrary to popular belief; that this game should be in the bag before the blades even

The Canucks will look to buck their recent trend of playing well against good teams, and playing poorly against struggling teams. The Blues are struggling right now, so the perfect tonic for them would seem to be to play the Canucks.

As we saw yesterday, the groundwork was laid for future captains of the Moose by two hard-working former NHL players and a long-time warrior on blueline. With the Washington Capitals and Vancouver Canucks tied at 2 at 12:24 of the third period, referee Brad Meier assessed Caps Tom Poti a double minor that changed the game.
Washington's head coach, Bruce Boudreau couldn't beleive what he was seeing as Poti first received a cross-checking minor for hitting Alex Burrows in the shoulders. Then, after dismissing Meier's call with a "take off" waving gesture, Poti was given an additional two minute minor for Unsportsmanlike conduct. On the subseque

The hottest ticket of the year as the most exciting player in NHL since #99 retired comes to town for only the second time in his career (try and figure that one out). Ovechkin and his high-powered Capitals (Semin, Backstrom, Laich, Green and even ex-Canuck Brendan Morrison who is having a comeback season) visit GM Place sitting atop the entire NHL in points (well they were when they last played, since then New Jersey and Pittsburgh have both w

Be it for taking bad penalties, own goals or glaring errors that cost the Canucks. He's probably the only person that gets more flak for going to the penalty box than Mats Sundin. That and the fact we had Schneider just sitting ready to go lead to O'Brien's timeout in the press box.

Vancouver looks to win four consecutive games for the first time this season against a Ducks team that is last in the Western Conference (which is odd for a .500 team). This off-season, Anaheim traded away top defenseman Chris Pronger and also lost top-4 blue-liner Francois Beauchemin to free agency making this team average in a department they were strong in for many years. To counter this, they acquired Lupul and Saku Koivu bolstering their to

After dropping a decision late in the third period at home against the Ducks, who were 3-5-5 on the road entering the game, the Canucks have some ground to gain. Following the loss, Vancouver is 10th in the West, and Minnesota, who holds a game in hand, only trails by three points. These, in my humble opinion, are the 5 things they must do to ensure a playoff spot in the Western conference.

The last ten minutes of the third period were probably the most fun I've had watching the Canucks in awhile. The action was rapid and the Canucks were constantly on the forecheck, causing turnovers and creating scoring chances. But where was that all game? The Canucks have been plagued with inconsistency all year and no wonder they're still sitting outside the playoff picture - they can't play a full 60 minutes of solid hockey. The first period was forgettable to say the least, but only when the
