Dallas Stars

When Joe Niewendyk said he was going all out on free agents he wasn't joking. Niewendyk signed veteran offensive forwards Ray Whitney and Jaromir Jagr. He also traded pest Steve Ott and depth d-man for offensive center Derek Roy. The one move that I thought was risky at the time was trading Mike Ribeiro for Cody Eakin but it was probally to clear some capspace.

Minnesota Wild

This is obvious. They signed Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. No more explanation needed.

Carolina Hurricanes

At the draft the Hurricanes aquired 2-way, top 6 center Jordan Staal from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Brandon Sutter (plus picks and prospects) then signed Staal to a 10 year extension. They then signed sniper Alex Semin

to a 1 year, 7 million dollard deal. Their latest move is extending Jeff Skinner for 6 years.

Any issues with these? Think I left any team

off? Use the comment section.

Coming soon on CH9: Losers of the offseason

Peaches

Anders Lindback- Tampa Bay Lightning

Lindback was traded to Tampa where he will become their starter. I'm expecting a huge year from Lindback, and Tampa will he will have one or they can say goodbye to the playoffs.

Oliver Ekman Larson- Phoenix Coyotes

Ekman Larson is already a stud at the age of 21. Playing with Keith Yandle will help his production and on a weak offensive team like Phoenix he is bound to get lots of ice time and PP time.

Jamie Benn- Dallas Stars

Benn was a first time all-star last year and was the leagues most accurate shooter at the skills competition while playing mostly on the 2nd line. With Ribeiro gone to Washington Benn will get a chance on the 1st line and will play with much more quality linemates such as Loui Eriksson and the newly signed Ray Whitney. Plus with Aaron Rome playing D his +/- will be inflated.

Cory Schneider- Vancouver Canucks

Schneider stole the starting role from Roberto Luongo last year with his brilliance in the playoffs, wich shows that he can play under the microscope we call the Canucks fan base. He has played in high pressure games (Chicago, Boston, etc.) while posting numbers in the top 5 in SV% and GAA. Not to mention his numbers might improve from improved defence.

Colin Wilson- Nashville Predators

Wilson will get improved minutes and PP time from solid playoffs. The young forward along with Gabriel Bourque and Craig Smith will be huge parts of the Predators offence. The Preds need Wilson to step up if they want to contend for the playoffs.

Peaches

FLORIDA

Shawn Matthias

Matthias would give the Canucks a more offensive minded 3rd line center (like Hodgson was). He could also fill in on the 2nd while Kesler is out and play as the 2nd PP center.

TORONTO

Clarke MacArthur

MacArthur would give the Canucks a solid 3rd line offensive winger who could play on the PP. MacArthur would not be the solution to the offence but if they sign Doan:

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Doan

Booth-Kesler-Burrows

MacArthur-Lapierre/Malhotra-Higgins

Kassian-Malhotra/Lapierre-Hansen

or something like that

CHICAGO

Andrew Shaw

Shaw would help with Gillis saying he wants the team to get younger, he could be a good 3rd line winger and could be a good screen on the PP.

Peaches

Everyone is complaining that Manny was terrible and useless and someone even said to shoot him in the head and throw him in a random junk yard. Though Malhotra wasn't great he wasn't terrible either. He was tops on the team in FO percentage and only had 2 less goals than Maxim Lapierre. Not only that but in 2011-12 he was playing 3rd line and 2nd PP and 11-12 just 4th line. Throw in the fact that he was coming off a career threatening eye injury and he wasn't that bad. He took more defensive zone FO's than any other player in the league and he was top 5 in faceoff's in the regular season and top 3 in the playoffs, in fact I think Manny was one of the player's who showed up in the playoffs, I must have heard Jim Hughson talk about Malhotra's FO percentage 20 times. Even though he had one of the worst +/-'s on the team (-11) it was because Vigneault kept giving him no offensive zone draws. Also Manny had the 3rd best goal of the season according to CDC (diving goal).

Hopefully this changes any of the Manny haters opinions on him.
