Man, I haven't been this excited about the next 2-3 yrs since the peak of the bertuzzi-nazzy era. With Luongo as our backbone, we're most defintly on the RISE!!!!
Ukrainian_Canuck

6 million for Naslund -- 20 goal player at best now
almost 6 million combined for sedins -- combined -13 in playoffs
3.5 million for Morrison -- lol
1.9 million for Kesler -- this will probably change
Pyatt wants more

With these outrageous contracts there's a LOT of shuffling to do before Vancouver becomes a contender, as this playoff year proved Luongo can do everything but score a goal, which he almost did do against Dallas, to bad the team couldn't help him out a bit.
The_Pauser
We still need some MAJOR changes to our offense. They were absolutely terrible for half of the season and the entire playoffs. The defense (minus Ohlund) was solid, and Luongo had a Conn Smythe worthy playoffs (so far).

Yah I agree we still need to work on alot of things but we'll be back and hopefully alot better next year.

It's funny you hate on Ohlund, because the rest of the NHL thinks he's one of the most underrated defencemen. Do you know something the rest of the NHL doesn't?

I guess we'll disregard everything else they did this season then. rolleyes.gif
The Sedins at this price are a steal, any idiot could see that. This is their first Play-offs as a #1 line, they'll learn from this and move on next season.

Otherwise I feel this team is really on the rise as well, and that with a couple of key offensive upgrades we'll be challenging for the Cup in the upcoming seasons. Hopefully our gritty players (ie: Cooke, Kesler, Bieksa) stay healthy next season too.

You forgot to mention how this team sucks because it's full of "Euros" and how we should get rid of every single one of them because they lack heart and emotion. rolleyes.gif

Dude it's the same logic that evolves into his hate for Naslund.

I agree with the OP, the future looks bright. I also agree we need to make some changes. So I agree with everybody. That's weird...

Great, then lets trade Ohlund for some young offensive players...maybe Nathan Horton? And completely hose another team.
foreverlinden
we will rise again. now that our guys have had more playoffs experience and developed the chemistry and feel for each other.

He's not that underrated.

Linden and Luongo in '08!

This year we went from not making the playoffs to having a legit chance to make the conference finals. If we gel a little more and keep some key role-players things could look better for next year. So don't toss your car flags just yet....

There is no reason to think Nonis won't make the right moves to improve our team ... I trust he will have a championship level team the nexy 1-3 years.
Johnny.
Ya, I guess. I just reeeeealllly want a cup. And I'm getting too old. Well, 27 is old for me.

With Luongo in net, nothing can stop us if we create a little more offense. We need two solid scoring lines and he'll take care of the rest. If we had our PP going this post-season, we'd be unstoppable. Sadly, it never picked up. It's also disheartening to hear that a lot of us were playing hurt or sick. A few changes here and there, and we'll be back next season.
Orca_Boy
Ya I agree Alfredo. Luongo now has the playoff experience, the rest of the team got a good taste of winning a playoff round, and despite no offence, they hung around until round 2.

The 07-08 nucks will be healthier (i hope), more experienced and hungry. As long as Lou stays a canuck, we will keep getting better.

PS Alfredo: I wish I had the guts to do that to my apartment. You are REALLY lucky.

How do you know he's only a 20 goal player at best, this was his first year in 5 years that he didn't score 30 goals or more. Just because he didn't get 30 this year and struggled doesn't mean he can't do it again, we'll have to wait and see before we can make that judgment. Look at sellane, had a crap year in colorad and got like 32 points, then he becomes a 90 point player again with great linemates. If we pick up a good winger for naslund, his goal production and point production will go up. But it was one really bad year, every professional has them, lets way to see what happens next year, that will tell the story.

I won't forget the goal that disqualified us from the playoffs. I shall remember it for a long time.

We were so unlucky during the series... the burrows delay of game penalty in game 4, the penalty that lead to morrow's goal in game 5 vs dallas (if that never happend we would have won in 5 and been much healthier for our battle vs anaheim, the interference call that never was - and lead to the first anaheim goal in game 5 ... and the ever so flukey goal that beat luongo to send us packing... all these events of bad luck will have to be balanced out by streaks of good luck in the next playoffs.

The canucks will learn from this playoff and make the right move to fix their current problems - and on top of that they will have this additional good luck from the built up karma - this leads me to believe strongly that our Canucks will be back in the playoffs and be back with a vengence. The fact that they didnt accomplish anything significant in the post season will drive them to improve and better their performance.

Watch out for Luongo, because he will only get better. If you thought he was good, watch out because he's just warming up. He's no where near his peak. Just think about the time Brodeour hit hit peak (right about now!).

Anyways... I got on a tangent there ...

As I was saying before, I will never forget this goal ... I was not crushed or heartbroken when it happend. I actually felt a feeling of comfort ... that we have such a strong future ahead of us.... we're only a few tweeks away from having an elite team.

I honestly think Naslund is playing hurt, I think he should take some time off and get better once and for all ... he should go through the proper rehab program like teemu selanne did during the lock out. Naslund should go on Injury Reserve for the next season until he is 100%. If he Nazzy did that then the Canucks would have a lot of free cap room. While Nazz is out in IR, someone else could be captain (mitchell?bieksa?luongo???) and when nazzy is better he can resign with van for a one year 2 million contract and be back healthy and not have the burden of the captaincy.

That was another tanget there but I hope you get the gist of my point.
Regnecek
I completely understand what you are saying and I agree with you. I'm not disappointed that we're out of the playoff run. It just hurts knowing that I won't be getting to see the team play every second day. And I know deep down that this team and how it was playing wasn't going to take it all. A lot of us were either playing hurt or sick and definitely not at 100%.

A lot of the guys also didn't have playoff experience, I think they'll take everything that happened this post-season and use it to their advantage in future years. And again, we need to make changes to become an overall elite team that can get the job done. No disrespect to our current players at all. They played with heart and I appreciated every second. However, there are a few changes that need to be made, after that, with Luongo, we're good to go.

And of course that goal stung, but really, Luongo can't be blamed. That game was his to lose. We wouldn't have been in OT if it wasn't for him. Seeing him collapse on the ice like that broke my heart. But I know that something like that isn't going to happen again and he'll learn from it. He's not something we have to worry about. We only need to acquire a few decent scoring lines.
VintageNaslund
we need some more offence but with that our future is looking bright with LUI in net
HSD19
Add some offense punch and were good to go

It's the waiting that kills me! But I know for a fact that we WILL rise again biggrin.gif

I agree. This was year 1 of a major rebuild - new coach, new players, the off the ice politics of ownership. This team has the makings of a brilliant one.
