Since most of us here live in Canada, we don't really get that much iPhone hype. But seeing a commerical on TV the other day, the iPhone releases tomorrow! And unfortunately, it will be a lot longer before it reaches Canada. But for those of us that need it, the iPhone, as Stephen Colbert said is a "God machine." Not only can you use it as a phone/camera, you can also use the internet, check your e-mail, listen to music/videos, and do a hell of a lot more. It's great that the most used devices have all been combined into one, and this will be the next best thing after the iPod. Speaking of which, it just makes me wonder what they will come up with for the next iPod. But...can't wait for the iPhone to come to Canada. Hell, I may just buy one off of eBay to be prepared...lol.

I doubt it would work up here, but I'm sure the music/video, Wi-Fi internet capabilities still would. But, until they can get the proper networking for the actual phone to work in Canada, no it wouldn't work as a cell phone. This is the reason behind the long wait for Canada. Because, I believe the iPhone is made to run in a CDMA network (US), whereas in Canada...we don't use the same network.

As for the prices, of course they will be up there right now. People have been waiting in lines at the Apple Store in the US for almost a week now to get their hands on this. And the ones that are going to get one, will most likely do the smart thing and sell it on eBay. Because I believe the retail is $499 for 4GB, and $699 for 8GB. I think. So sell it on eBay, where a businessman will pay 3000-5000 for this phone, and it will definitely make up for the lost time a person spent standing that long in line.

Wait. People are gonna pay $500 US for a phone with 4GB capabilities while they could just buy a phone and an iPod nano (or similar non Apple device if they like quality of brand name) for the same price (or less)?
Go go consumerism.

I agree. But I wouldn't even by an iPod, my free phone (with plan) and $30 MP3 player have always been just fine, and I don't see why they won't always be. Same goes for my N64!

And here I thought getting the same thing but in a smaller and more convinient package was a good thing, and for relatively the same price. BTW iPod Nano doesn't play video, and has a smaller screen, which the iPhone can do (iThink).

Wrong. The iPhone is a Quad-Band GSM Phone that, if unlocked, will work with Rogers or Fido (or any GSM carrier for that matter).

Smaller and more convenient?
Kind of like your penis?
All joking aside, if you're willing to pay hundreds of dollars for the "convenience" of not having a phone and an iPod in your pockets, you really should look at how tight your pants are because you may be a homosexual or a woman.
In which case, you should buy this phone because it would go well with the other irrational things you people do.

Anyhow...whatever it may be...it's not expected in Canada until late 2007-early 2008. So there's plenty of time for the word to get around and prices should drop in that time. For the ordinary person, you really don't need this phone...unless you want to show it off. The reason to get one though is...ok now I don't have to carry my cell/iPod and laptop with me everywhere I go. To some places, just taking the iPhone will be enough and that is convenient. Sure it is pricy, but whatever, quality isn't free.

I hope no one intends to buy the iPhone for use on the Rogers network until it's released here.
Apparently the iPhone will be locked on the AT&T network and will not work if the original SIM card is removed. According to some reports, the SIM card may not even be removable.

well the thing is, most people like me and yourself already has a cellphone AND/OR a MP3 Player. It makes no sense to pay $500US that simply have both function

Apple products have been the leading way for today's MP3 players. Look at how many companies have copied Apple's ideas from the first-generation iPod. I've never had a problem with Apple's iPods, the software is very user-friendly, compared to other products. Apple computers suck...but the iPod is the best music player. Period.
