Hydroxycut has been around for a while now and many people have had successful weight loss results using it. If you plan to use hydroxycut there are some unwanted Hydroxycut side effects you need to be aware of. The ingredient Ephedrine or Ephedra is the cause of these effects.

Known side effects from Hydroxycut include: increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, headaches, light-headedness, dizziness, loss of appetite, feel restless, nose bleeds, blurred vision or acne breakout.

QUOTE
Ephedrine side effects include: insomnia, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, restlessness, euphoria, and there have been reported death with ephedra. It can also heighten the feeling of alertness and reduce appetite.

A study conducted by New England Medical Center found that in 926 reported cases associated with use of ephedrine (ephedra or ma huang) had the following side effects. There were 50 heart related problems, 14 sudden deaths, 13 strokes, 9heart attacks, and 6 cases of rapid heart beats.

A lady I worked with tried this, it didn't work for her. She was one of the laziest people I have ever met, and I think you have to work out too to get it to work properly.

I tried it once..
you have to take them between a half hour - hour before you eat, they cant be between 4 hours of each other and you have to drink about a half a bottle of water each time you take them
I only lasted 2 days with them because they have so much caffeine in them that you're not supposed to have any extra and I cant live without caffeine

If you don't mind the possibility of organ failure later in life then go for it. By "later" I mean 2009.

Never mind the skin cancer from the tanning booth and the herpes he got from the whore on his arm.

Also keep in mind that Ephedra is illegal in Canada. It essentially works by speeding up your heart. Heart beats, fat burns. Unfortunately the side effects include death.

On March 27, 2003, Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon filed a lawsuit in St. Louis against Hydroxycut's manufacturer MuscleTech Research and Development, Inc stating that claims Hydroxycut was "clinically proven" to be a "fat-burner" were false, specifically

The product is not “clinically proven” to be a “fat-burner,” as MuscleTech claims. MuscleTech’s own study showed that Hydroxycut has no efficacy as compared to placebo with the possible exception of an appetite-suppressing effect. Moreover, the serious adverse health risks of Hydroxycut with ephedra – including death – were not adequately described or disclosed in marketing and labeling of the product.

Nixon also alleged that the "before" and "after" photographs were misleading, and that one woman's "before" photo was deceptive because she was recently pregnant.

MuscleTech paid $100,000 to settle the case while denying any wrongdoing.

I hope the same treatment is given to all the weight gainers too.

You want to loose weight. Drink no other liquids than water, that includes juices and such.
Eat lots of fibre, lots of vegies + fruit, protien, SLEEP ALOT, and if you eat before you go to bed make sure its low in carbs and high in fibre. YAY

Exercise: Little run one day, push ups the next day, run, pushups, big run, pushups.

Running is important for obvious reasons, while its also important to build muscle when trying to loose weight. For every pound of new muscle gained your body has to burn a large amount of calories to retain it everyday. So you work out, and you wake up the next day burning calories without doing anything. smile.gif

i used it when i was younger (like 16 yrs old) and it really did a good job on me. i heard it was also 'stronger' back then (6 yrs ago).

No supplement works unless u diet properly and actually do cardio at least 20 mins a day (min 4 days a week).

So ya try it out, follow all dosing instructions, and EAT PROPERLY>.

thats my only downfall, im french and like to eat.
Mista Mo27
Go natural. Work out normally with just iron and you'll feel much better than if your filling your body up with ephedrine and Cytogainer. Creatine is bad long-term as well.

My friend took it when he weighed 190, after a few weeks of using it and rigorously going to the gym he went down to 150ish.
hopz
dropping 40 pounds in a few weeks is extremly unhealthy, dont take any weight loss helpers, you can gain better effects if you just put in a little work, i used to weigh 240 pounds, i now weigh 180, it's been about a year and a half since i started working out, started eating healthy, cut off fast food, packed my own lunches to work, lots of water, i bought a dog, and took it on a 20-30 min walk a day (not even a run) went to the gym 3 days a week for some free weights and the weight just shed off, 1 1/2 years, 60 pounds lighter, ps play alot of street hockey! great cardio!

Hydroxycut Recall Prompts Call for DSHEA Reform
Date Published: Friday, May 8th, 2009

The recent Hydroxycut recall has prompted one advocacy group to call on Congress to reform a law that governs the regulation of dietary supplements. The group, Reality Coalition, argues that the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, or DSHEA, does little to protect consumers from unsafe supplements like Hydroxycut until it’s too late.

Last week, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) ordered the Hydroxycut recall after it had received 23 reports of serious liver problems ranging from jaundice and elevated liver enzymes, an indicator of potential liver injury, to liver damage requiring liver transplant, linked to use of Hydroxycut products. In one case, a 19-year-old died as a result of Hydroxycut-associated liver damage. That death occurred in 2007, but was only reported to the agency in March.

The agency had also received reports linking Hydroxycut products to seizures, cardiac problems, and rhabdomyolysis, a type of muscle damage that can lead to other serious health problems such as kidney failure.

Under DSHEA, supplement makers don’t need to seek premarket approval of products unless they contain a “new dietary ingredient.” Only then must they complete a premarket review of safety data, which typically involves clinical trials. As a result, the side effects of a supplement product usually are not apparent until it has been on the market for a while, and if users report adverse event to the FDA.

Under DSHEA, the FDA also lacks the authority to evaluate claims made on supplements’ labels. Only the Federal Trade Commission is authorized to do so.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of consumers are unaware that the FDA has so little muscle when it comes to regulating supplements. According to a Reality Coalition survey, 54% of patients think such products are FDA approved for safety, and 46% think they’re approved for efficacy.

As Reality Coalition points out, the Hydroxycut recall is only the latest incident to highlight the inadequacies of DSHEA. For instance, in 2004 the FDA banned the ingredient ephedra in supplements after thousands of people using such products reported liver problems and other toxic events. Ephedra was linked to fatalities, including that of a Baltimore Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler.

Recently, the FDA has gotten more aggressive in policing dietary supplements - especially in regards to undeclared ingredients. In March, the agency sent letters to 72 companies regarding such ingredients, and many of the companies subsequently recalled their products.

Unfortunately, because of the current provisions of DSHEA, the FDA and the public do not become aware of either side effects or dangerous, undeclared ingredients until a product has been on the market for sometime - and possibly injures many consumers. According to Reality Coalition, tragedies like those linked to Hydroxycut will continue to occur until DSHEA is reformed.

“Now is the ideal time for Congress . . . to raise the regulatory bar for weight loss supplement manufacturers to be accountable for the safety and efficacy of their products,” Louis J. Aronne, M.D., co-chair of Reality Coalition, said in a statement. “We firmly believe that there needs to be an FDA review process for all over-the-counter weight loss products.”

side note - ephedrine is not illegal in Canada you can buy pure ephedrine pills........ and if you are opposed to ephedrine don't ever take any cold or flu medication - it's pretty much in every single one.

Ephedrine is controlled by the dosage, it isn't flat out illegal.

but other posters advice about high-fibre foods, etc... is the best advice. Ephedrine just speeds up your heart and reduces your appetite. not related to healthy weight-loss in any way.

Just taking the supplement alone will not make you look like that. Remember that supplements are supposed to supplement ur diet. You still have to eat healthy and workout hard. If you are already doing that, you don't need risky products like hydroxycut.
