  1. When was this rule implemented? I really don't think that's correct. That happened with Clarke MacArthur awhile back and his contract wasn't even this much.
  2. They sure can. Would be embarrassing as hell, but it would be a sign of the times. There's not alot of money to go around. If there's a 2 or more at the front of that cap hit, I guarantee Vancouver walks. I would be shocked if they didn't, Heffy.
  3. As long as he doesn't get injured like Bure did whenever he wore this number. That's why he switched it back. I still loved the number though. I have that number on an old skate jersey with my last name on the back and I used it every time I played an NHL video game with my created character.
  4. 10 points in 26 games last year as a RIGHT WING. You guys...he's not coming here for the 4th line...he's coming in for the 3rd line right wing spot. You push those numbers over 82 games, you're looking at about 30 points. There's gonna be lots of line shuffling and I honestly don't see Virtanen on this team next season. If Hawyrluk does go on the 4th line, Gaudette plays center and Sutter plays wing on the 3rd and they shuffle face off responsibilities. The more I think about it, Vancouver is ready to walk away from the Virtanen contract, which is probably why no team took him on at the draft. Wait, get him for a minimal contract and it costs nothing in a trade. Vancouver doesn't have the money to pay him. We still need a defender anyways. Even if let's say Sutter DOES get bought out or maybe Jordie Benn gets dealt for a pick, you can't take on that money. It just becomes dead money. We've seen 6 seasons of Virtanen now. I just don't see it.
  5. Oh so this is a Vegas contract?! Lol I hope it buries them then, lol. Even still. There will only be one for Holtby. Fact is, he has motivation to be better this season.
  6. It didn't sway Vegas when they picked up Fleury. They may be having some troubles now, but they went to the cup with him, so hey? Why not?
  7. Yeah, but they're still gonna need a goalie. Make no mistake, if he puts up good numbers again, he'll have a damn good chance of being picked.
  8. Not that one, but that one was just as good. No, Higgins hit him with a break away pass coming off the bench and he scored. I was pretty sure that was against San Jose. I've never laughed so hard at something in hockey since Jarko Ruutu made Phaneuf look like a fool.
  9. Or more desirable, if he does well here. It's not like they won't have a good look at him.
  10. It's all in how you look at it. The way I see it is he gets plugged in and he gets shown how he kept being victimized when he was on the ice and he becomes a better player. Plus we haven't had much success vs Vegas in the seasons. It would be nice to see someone on our side play them with a massive chip on their shoulder.
  11. I wonder if getting Nate Schmidt to waive for Vancouver hinged on them signing Braden Holtby. It would make sense because it sure seemed like Benning was all in on Nate now since Friday.
  12. Vintage going to Buffalo saying. I came to this thread, just for this, buddy. Thank you.
  13. This is starting to feel like Minnesota getting Parise and Suter all over again. They're old world jr buddies. As odd as it would be, because of the cap crunch...maybe? Columbus sure dropped alot of cap.
  14. I like this. The tough thing is he might cost a 1st or 2nd. Should he get a contract extension, I'd be good with that. That being said, it makes me think that if we pay the 1st or 2nd +, wouldn't it be better to look at trying for one of the RFAs from Tampa instead? Or where ever else a team is vulnerable to an offer sheet?
  15. Yeah...it helps to have depth to chew up those injury laden minutes.
  16. Lol, I guess you weren't too good for that $6.5 cap hit anyways, were ya Krug? You could have had the extra year with Boston, but noooooooo.
  17. Actually I don't recall, but I know he has had some reoccurring knee issues in the past. I'm kind of surprised there's no news of the Flames giving him a physical. 6x6 is an absolutely awful contract to be giving out right now. No one lives up to these long deals with more than 5 years of term on them anymore.
  18. Y'all think we're gonna get something for nothing again, if this does go through. That RARELY happens. And when it does, it's usually Ottawa on one side of the deal. I actually want this one to go through because this is a better replacement for Edler than we're going to be able to find and those guys don't exactly grow on trees or even really make it to free agency too often...but it will cost the Canucks SOMETHING we don't like. Which usually means the trade is fair.
  19. They will accept whatever they think makes their team better.
  20. If neither of those guys are included in this trade, it makes me wonder what of value already IS included and I keep leaning towards Boeser.... I kind of don't think Arizona says yes to moving OEL without getting SOMETHING of value. Especially after losing Taylor Hall.
