  1. [Speculation] Kesler to remain a Canuck

Except only the blindest of the blind would believe Kesler is the team's "true leader". Henrik is the de facto leader of the team, followed closely by Bieksa. Kes is up there, but I don't believe he is on the same level as the two I mentioned.
  2. Nicklas Jensen Talk

If they aren't sent back down after tonight's game I would be stunned.
  3. [Confirmed] Jim Benning signs as new Canucks GM

More like the Aquilinis still trying to win the 2011 Cup. If they're going to continue to interfere, this team is going to continue to be a mess.
  4. Mike Gillis Team 1040 Interview

I don't think there's anything special about the interview, or that it will be a turning point. That's a bit of a reach. But for a guy that seemed to never give any information even if it was already a pretty well-known fact, it's quite a bit of a change for him to basically say, "Yeah, we f***ed up and for all we know everyone could be gone in October."
  5. Mike Gillis Team 1040 Interview

It's certainly the most candid he's ever been in an interview. For a guy that seems like he's always in "lawyer mode", this is a pretty big change in tone.
  6. Jannik Hansen

Yet he's being put in an offensive role. If he was doing his job as a third line grinder, no one would complain, you're right. But he's not bringing that game and he's definitely not an offensive threat.
  7. Dane Fox Talk

You must not go on the internet much. This is a common joke.
  8. Cole Cassels | C

There's a pretty big difference between Mallet and Fox. Mallet never had over 20 points until his overage season, then he jumped up to 30-ish goals and about a point per game. Fox has been hovering around a point per game for the last two seasons and jumped up to 60 goals and 99 points in his overage year. He's not likely to replicate that in the NHL, but could be he a solid 15 goal, 3rd line guy? Sure.
  9. Dan Murphy ‏@sportsnetmurph 1m Ryan Kesler taking part in #Canucks practise. We'll see how long he lasts out there. Has been favouring that left hand. So Pap was wrong, I guess.
  10. Nicklas Jensen Talk

Natural hatty for Jensen? Great to see him getting his game together!
  11. [Trade] VAN Dale Weise to MTL

I was thinking Archibald would be back up after the Olympic break. Lain looks a bit like a deer in the headlights out there a lot of the time, he needs more time in the AHL.
  12. [Trade] VAN Dale Weise to MTL

To everyone sarcastically grilling Gillis for making a "bold move": We've known the Canucks have been trying to trade Weise for weeks. This one just finally came down the pipeline.
  13. [Report] Torts Suspended 6 Games

Yeah, I really don't know how to respond to that without breaking some rule somewhere... so hopefully this will suffice for my reaction.
  14. Darren Archibald | #49 | RW/LW

Give up? No, I'm sure he'll be back. Probably this season too. But he played so well in his first call up, and the door was open for him to take a spot. Hell, Torts wanted him to take a spot! But in a game where he could've stepped up and shown his physical play, he was invisible. Clearly there is something there, but he needs more seasoning in the AHL,
  15. Not at all. Booth + Weise out, Higgins + Archibald in. Kassian was already in the lineup last game, no one else needs to be removed to make space for Archibald. EDIT: Pretty sure Murph tweeted that Henrik is playing anyways.
