Except only the blindest of the blind would believe Kesler is the team's "true leader". Henrik is the de facto leader of the team, followed closely by Bieksa. Kes is up there, but I don't believe he is on the same level as the two I mentioned.

[Confirmed] Jim Benning signs as new Canucks GM

More like the Aquilinis still trying to win the 2011 Cup. If they're going to continue to interfere, this team is going to continue to be a mess. -
I don't think there's anything special about the interview, or that it will be a turning point. That's a bit of a reach. But for a guy that seemed to never give any information even if it was already a pretty well-known fact, it's quite a bit of a change for him to basically say, "Yeah, we f***ed up and for all we know everyone could be gone in October."
-
It's certainly the most candid he's ever been in an interview. For a guy that seems like he's always in "lawyer mode", this is a pretty big change in tone.

I was thinking Archibald would be back up after the Olympic break. Lain looks a bit like a deer in the headlights out there a lot of the time, he needs more time in the AHL.

To everyone sarcastically grilling Gillis for making a "bold move": We've known the Canucks have been trying to trade Weise for weeks. This one just finally came down the pipeline.
-
Yeah, I really don't know how to respond to that without breaking some rule somewhere... so hopefully this will suffice for my reaction.

Too Early to call Kassian a dissapointment?
zoner. replied to Go Go Canucks Go's topic in Canucks Talk
Kassian is on pace for 17 goals in 76 games, while playing third line minutes and getting just over a shot a game. If I told everyone that Zack was going to have a 15 goal season before the season started, I think most people would be pretty happy with that. The only reason his point totals are so low is because he's not getting assists. Like most people here, I'd like to see him throw his weight around more and take more shots, but overall he's having a decent season right now. -
Imagine a third line next season of like... Booth - Horvat - Kassian. Hnnngggggg.

There was a little cluster of Bruins fans that were just being total a-holes all night, but this one guy in particular was all over the place. By the third he was clearly hammered and started yelling at Fin, dropping all sorts of obscenities and security finally had enough of him. He had already been warned a couple times earlier in the game, and security was down at the bottom of the steps just staring him down almost every ad break. It was hilarious.

HAHAH Oh man. I recorded the game and I'm watching it back, it's hilarious. With about 12 minutes left you can hear my section (115) chanting "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!" Some Bruins fan had been a real tool all game and then started yapping at Fin, we started giving it to him and Security was in there pulling him out real fast. They had been eyeing him all game, the guy was a total dick.

He wears 53 in junior, so I expect he'll keep it unless the team says otherwise (which they have done in the past).

Pretty much this. I'm really happy with the pick, but I think the trade could've brought more in return. More than that, I have no clue what Gillis is planning right now. Are we going with a youth movement now? I'd be okay with that if Gillis would just say that's what he's doing...

[Official] Canucks coach talk. Keep all talk here.

I'm not a fan of Tortorella, but this just sounds like the media is scared sh*tless that they're going to have to deal with him! -

Looks like we've entered the darkest timeline. -
Management seemed high on the kid and he has definitely had injury problems, so I don't see the risk in giving him a 1-2 year deal to see if he can put it together. That said, he's falling down the depth chart rapidly and it's only going to continue if more wingers are added in the 2013 Draft.
-
Michael Grabner was also a top-15 pick that had shown he could play in the North America by putting up 30 goal seasons in the WHL. Rodin hasn't shown he can contribute on a consistent basis on this side of the pond. Bad comparison.
-
No, preventing goals is still clearly an issue as well. AV's logic behind Lappy on the third line is that he's played with Higgins in the past, and they've played well together.
-
Other than the penalty tonight, he seems to be settling in finally. More importantly, he's getting shots on goal.
