dunno for sure, have to give this one a bit more thought, and would have to have some very convincing pro-scouting numbers.

But... if the scouts were highly confident that he was a legit top 4? something around 4-5 mil per (2nd round pick compensation at 4.2, 1st and 3rd above that).

Scouting back in the day had him as first pair potential: https://dobberprospects.com/player/cal-foote/

4 mil for a fringe guy with 13 points in 99 career games? Don't we have enough anchors?

  2. Some people only read the title, or the first line in a thread. People should really read the entire post. Good thread, haha. Furthermore...

Lumpsuckers are named appropriately enough; their portly bodies are nearly spherical with generally drab coloration and lithic patterns. The "sucker" part refers to the fish's modified pelvic fins, which have evolved into adhesive discs (located ventrally, behind the pectoral fins); the fish use these discs to adhere to the substrate. Many species have bony, wart-like tubercles adorning the head and body; these are important taxonomic features of the family.

The simple, rounded fins are small with the exception of the broad, fan-like pectorals, which actually extend ventrally. The first of the two dorsal fins is spinous, with 4-8 spines; in some species, this fin is completely overgrown with skin and therefore not visible. While the lateral line in lumpsuckers is otherwise reduced or absent, it is well developed in the head; some species even have tubular, whisker-like external projections of the opercular canal, which is a part of the cranial lateral line system.

For an established young top 10 D in the league on a locked in team friendly deal who is also marketing gold with two brothers already on their team?

    Yep.  Absolutely.

He is more than what you hope your prospects turn into and they haven’t shown they are NHLers yet.

Guys like Hughes don’t come on the market and everyone wants them.  The only reason we would trade him is the worry we can’t re-sign him and want to maximize value rather than wasting a bunch of his prime years while rebuilding.

For perspective, we paid - 1st round pick for Miller who was a 3rd liner who scored 14 goals and 46 points.  Teams pay 1st round picks for “ok” rentals at deadlines.

So if New Jersey calls and says they will trade us Jack Hughes for Pettersson, Lekkerimaki, and a 1st, you think that's fair?

    To NJ: Q. Hughes, Burroughs

To Van: Severson (with extension in place), Nemec, protected 1st.

NJ gets the trifecta brother combo, a marketing and team chemistry dream, and an 80 pt potential d man. And with Hamilton and Marino there, it doesn't decimate their right side. Burroughs is serviceable on their bottom pair.

We solve our RHD issues going forward, and gain a late 1st.

Why would they trade Nemec (highly sought after RD) for a LD of similar cieling? And they have to add a 1st? Lol keep dreaming. Not to mention Nemec has 3 inches and 10 pounds on Quinn. There are no defensemen projected top 10 in next year's draft, either. The thought that NJ doesn't need Nemec cause they have Hamilton and Marino is laughable. And you also want them to add Severson! Crazy.

As the OP of this thread I am humbled by your responses, and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I want to emphasize that I am a person in my mid-30s who is heavily involved in the Yaletown scene and active on all social media platforms. I may offend some readers by my thoughts but society does not consider anyone over the age of 50 as "relevant" on social media. For that reason and this main reason alone the competition to "look" and act a certain way on social media really guides my life style - yes I have to go into debt to have "nice things" but I have to remind you, I HAVE NICE THINGS - i dont just go into debt for nothing, i actually trade debt for nice things.

Frugal people dont have nice things, they dont go out as much, they dont have Uber Eats on speed dial, they dont have brand clothing ,flashy cars or can buy a round of drinks for everyone at a club.. What type of a life is that a miserable life I say. Look at me, I got a life people envy. I got women up the yingyang coming on to me, I got things I can actually be proud of to show on social media.

I dont want to be lectured by some senior who worked for 35 years and saved up a few mill in the bank, that is not impressive. Hidden tucked away money isnt impressive because its "invisible" you want to be relevant, you need to SHOW what you got. That "visibility" into your life style is what is the most expensive part of being an elite person, being frugal/FIRE is not elite or respectful or inspiring it is a selfish way to live in my honest opinon.

Which is why FIRE is seen as cheap, good luck taking a hot girl in Vancouver on a date and using a coupon to pay for the bill, see what happens.

    Collection Agency "liked" this post.
