@luckylager I'm not taking it well at all. I can't believe Jimbo would do this! I cried in the bathroom at work today. Hopefully he doesn't get claimed, tears it up in Utica, then is called right back up.
Bo must be really disappointed right now...

Players I liked from today's scrimmage:
Pettersson (obviously)
Sutter
Gaudette
Hughes
Markstrom
Demko
Focht (he's big)
Players I didn't like:
Goldobin
Eriksson
Graovac
Bachman
Teves
I really liked the line of Baer-Focht-Motte. Lots of energy from those 3 guys.

Podkolzin played 41 seconds in his first KHL game

I have a Victoria Royals save I've been playing around with for a while now. It's a bit of a different flavour from the base game. The turnover is fast since guys only play 3-5 years of junior. There's different roster restrictions like overage and under-age players and foreign players. Pretty fun

Well...Calgary is officially getting a new arena, and all it cost were 100 city jobs, and budget cuts across the board for public services such as transit and emergency services. Hurray for Hicksville

Igor Eronko is an interesting guy to follow on Twitter. Apparently Nikita Scherbak said he was not allowed to speak Russian in the locker room when he was with Montreal. That's when Markov and Emelin were still there. And when he was with LA Kings, apparently their whole AHL system is terrible. He said they would play defensemen in their top-6 forward group.

James Neal Salary is $5.75M while Lucic, having had his $3M bonus paid on July 1st, will have a salary of $3M next year. So Edmonton spending 2.75M cash to save 250k of cap space. Not really sure how the deal got past Edmonton ownership. Seems like every move the Oilers make, they somehow lose.

@RRypien37 **** both teams. I hope both players rot.

RIP one word story thread. It was a good run.

I've been convinced Hoglander will be one of the first few players from the draft to make the NHL. I'm thinking after 1 more year in the SHL he will be ready.

The reason why I'm specifically talking about Hoglander, is because a. He was projected by most scouts to be a mid-to-late first round pick, and fell to 40 and b. He is an absolute fitness freak which I think will give him an edge in having a good training camp and really improving next year, maybe improving more than a normal prospect would.
-
I almost always err on the side of caution with prosects. Far too many times have I been overhyped about a prospect and they bust or don't turn out how well I thought they should have. Example - Galchenyuk, called him a likely 100 point player, one of the most dominant centers in the league. Same Reinhart - said he'd score 60 points in his rookie season and would be a PPG player by the time he was 20.
So since I've been cautiously optimistic about prospects. I wasn't sure of Hoglander to be perfectly honest. I knew a little about him but it took me a lot of convincing to be okay with the pick. Fron what I've learned/seen/read, I'm convinced now that this kid has top 6 NHL upside and soon. Yeah, I'm excited. But, that's not the main factor to why I believe this young man has something special.

So Toronto has less than $4M to sign Marner. I'm surprised he hasn't been offersheeted yet. Somebody could really screw with Toronto by offering him max money. Nylander is guaranteed to be traded now.

@Baer. - Are you really that surprised he hasn't been offer sheeted? Its easy in theory to give away four 1st rounders for Marner, but I suspect that when you're the GM of a team which has the cap space and assets to actually pull the trigger, there is a lot of concern about negative feedback from multiple sources including other NHL GMs and your fanbase. Could you imagine the sh*tstorm that Benning would get if he traded away another four 1st round picks on this team? We wouldn't have a first round pick until 2025. All it takes is Marner getting injured or not playing as well as he has to date and you not only likely lose your job, but you've destroyed the team's future. The actual reality is that when it comes time for someone to pull the trigger on trading away four 1st rounders, it becomes extremely difficult to do so.

Rangers are gonna be deadly very soon

Podkolzin would have gone in the first 4 picks if he wasn't Russian.

@Baer. Regardless of semantics, the Canucks got a kid who’s currently 6’2”, 190, has skill and grit out the задница, and wants to get bigger and better. The Russian factor worked in the Canucks’ favor this time.
-
Pierre McGuire said he'd be surprised if Barrie doesn't end up as a Canuck.
-
All Russians are friends and know eachother. If you sign one Russian, more will come!! Just like how Tryamkin said Goldobin was being treated unfairly. Willie you buffoon!

@CRAZY_4_NAZZY They have to be. They are both Russian. That’s how it works lol

Generation Offended actually searches out things to be butthurt about and it's society's fault because we've been rewarding complainers for too long.
Bunch of babies.

Am I the only one who thinks Cole Caulfield will not be successful in the NHL?

Granlund and Baertschi both decline their invitations to world champs

Valeri Nichushkin was a 10th overall pick.

What would it take for you to make me a Quinn Hughes sig? Yours are really good
