  1. And people think we have to retain on Garland and Boeser. It is most likely that management won't give them away for nothing and actually want assets in return.
  2. Didn't Hall have drug problems linked around him throughout his career? Not sure thats the guy I want riding shotgun with Bedard
  3. I could see Dumba signing a short term 1 or 2 year deal with us at like 3 million to see if he can rebound his career by playing next to Hughes. Then once the cap rises substantially in 1 or 2 years he can secure the bag again but not with us (if he pans out). Everyone saying he's gonna get another 6x6 or 4.5x5 are out to lunch.
  4. If we could get Soucy around 3.5 on a 4 year deal we are laughing. Soucy-Hronek Makes for a really strong pairing. This is just a bonus but he does fight!!!
  5. Which is what we have all been saying. They didn't just buy out OEL and not have a concrete plan in place. They have moves in place they want to make. Now it's all about execution.
  6. They are going to go hard after Barbashev, which I'm fine with (only if they move Garland or Boeser) If they could get Barbashev on a 5x5 I'd do that deal. You would basically be swapping out Garland's 5 million for Barbashev who is 6'2 200 and has 2 cups. Barbashev has that hard nose skill we lack. These are the types of deals you do. Mikheyev-Petey-Kuz (speed and high skill line) Barbashev-Miller-Boeser (hard skill and can throw the body. Two big wingers to get in on the forecheck to battle. Boeser has improved in this area) Beauvillier-________-Hoglander (speed and hard on the puck. Will give complimently scoring ability) Joshua-Aman-PDG (cheap, hard working 4th line) Let Podkolzin cook in the AHL till the TDL. Then maybe trade Beauvillier and Pods slides in. Also injuries will happen
  7. Hard to struggle with Hughes when he always has the puck! Worst case if he struggles then we put him down on the 3rd pair and throw Schenn next to Hughes. Thing with Schneider is it was his second season in the league last year. Everyone remember Hughes 2nd season? Podkolzin? Hoglander? 2nd seasons can be brutal but I have the confidence he will be able to find his way. If we could go Hoglander straight up for him I think it is a no-brainer for the Canucks. He's only 21.
  8. If I was GM I would let Bear walk and then look at Soucy (UFA 6'5 210) to play next to Hronek. He would most likely cost 3.5 on a multi year deal. From there I would trade for Hughes partner. I'd look strongly to see if we could do a Braden Schneider (6'3 210) for Nils Hoglander + deal (the Rangers are apparently high on Hoglander). Bring Luke Schenn (6'2 230) back 2 years 2 million. Luke would really help insulate Hirose on the 3rd pair and could take a good chunk of PK minutes with Soucy. Hughes-Schneider Soucy-Hronek Hirose-Schenn We are much bigger and physical on the back end, yet have puck movers that can create plays and jump up into the rush. Schneider is a 1 million for next season and then we could bridge him for 3 years while we deal with the OEL high dead money years. Hirose is league minimum and Schenn is on the cheap. Important to note we would then have 3RHD and 3LHD so nobody has to play their offside. Bear is too soft and redundant. We need guys with some jam that can play it rough and tough. Finally from there I'd try and grab Laughton off of PHI. Garland + ? He'd be a great 3C and would help out our PK.
  9. Sign me up if we getting a 6'5 220 LHD who is 23
  10. I wonder about a UFA player like Carson Soucy. Have always thought highly of him when I've watched him play. He's 6'5 210. Would maybe cost us 3 million? Seattle fans help me out here? Is he a bottom pairing guy or could he play next to Hronek
  11. Not really all the surprising. This was pretty much their only option. Adding picks to move Garland would have been crazy. At least our blue line after next season looks a whole lot more promising. Hughes- xxx xxx- Hronek Bring in two players that are tough to play against and more shutdown two-way D and we look pretty good. Cap will be going up substantially and and Myers and Pearson off the books next season same with Beauvillier. We are fine. Just need to be smart about how we allocate our money now as we cant afford any more mistakes. I'd pay our top four heavy and then our bottom pair should basically be league minimum ex. Hirose and Schenn or players like that.
  12. They definitely have deals lined up since they have decided to buy him out. They needed the cap space to pull off whatever they have in the works. Just my opinion tho.
  13. Thought he should have given him 1 more year to see how he was completely healthy and played under Tocc. Now we have to bring in a left shot D that can play top 4 because Myers will be gone as well
  14. Just glad he didn't come here. Watched him closely with LA in playoffs and didn't think he was anything special.
  15. I could see To Canucks 19th, CHI 2nd rounder + OTT second rounder this year To Hawks - Boeser + 11th CHI has 4 second round picks. Boeser cap is high but can play with Bedard and is only 2 seasons. Canucks get much needed second round picks
  16. I like this idea. Although not over the moon about Goodrow's 3.6 mill for 4 more seasons. He's 30. Guess you got to give to get and if we could move Boeser and Garland while getting (for the most part) cheaper and younger you take it. I'm open to trading the 11th overall pick, but for me Schneider is a must if we do deal with NYR. A solid top four of Hughes-Schneider OEL-Hronek Greatly improves our chances of making the playoffs. Plus our right side would be completely reconstructed with two players under 26. I'd do: To NYR: 11th overall + Hoglander (who they desperately wanted for Kravtsov) To Van: Lafreniere + Schneider + Goodrow Why We do it - take a chance of former 1st overall pick who hasn't played up to expectations for 3 seasons now. Exactly the type of player JR said he would target. Play him with Petey and see if he breaks out. We also get a young throwback type RHD 6'3 210. Perfect longterm partner for Hughes. Goodrow will give us a 3rd line C with leadership and PK. Although overpaid and 30 he helps us get the other two . Why NYR does it - they clear Goodrow's 4 years at 3.6 which is important for them cap wise. They get a coveted young fast player in Hoglander who would be cheap and play their hard on the puck style. They get the 11th overall pick in a deep draft where they could either select a young promising player that would help them cap wise or trade that pick to get an impact player for next season and keep their window open .0 points in 7 playoffs games in first round vs NJD for LAF. Move him while there is value. They cant afford to pay Schneider after next season. Breakdown Laf for 11th (he's not even worth that for his play to date, but you roll the dice for upside) Hoggy for Schneider and capdump Goodrow
  17. I think a lot of this type of stuff is smoke. Boeser and Garland are overpaid sure, but they are quality NHL players who are supposedly hitting their "prime" years. It's not like they're 33 and have 3 years left on their contracts and simply just can't play. Teams will be willing to make a "hockey trade" and take a chance on these types of players. If I'm the Canucks I'm trading both Boeser and Garland this summer. We need to be cheap on the wings and invest our money up the middle and on our top 4 defence. Beauvillier-Petey-Kuzy Mikheyev-Miller-Hoglander
