  1. That's what I figure too. Doesn't let the police completely off the hook, but you can understand why they're elevated, at least to start.
  2. Kinda wonder what the nature of the call was that notified the police.
  3. Yep, a lot of that which hasn't served any other function other than making the stock market look good.
  4. I listen to the Indicator podcast from NPR, and how they explained it made sense to me: Corporations have been using the bailout money to buy back their own stock which basically lowers the amount of stock on the market, hence making it more valuable as there is less of it out there.
  5. I agree about 2nd degree murder. 1st degree murder involves a degree of premeditation that could be hard to prove here. 2nd degree, I would assume, should be open and shut. Punishment doesn't need to vary much between 1st and 2nd degree murder.
  6. Voted Oddleifson Nominating Jim Sandlak
  7. That's t-shirt material, right there.
  8. As always Seth is good for a chuckle
  9. If we do things the right way in BC we shouldn't see a spike either. Yeah, Sweden didn't close down as much of their economy, but they also lost a lot more lives per capita.
  10. And the sad thing is, if/when it is figured out that we can get herd immunity people will scream and cry "I told you soooooo!!!!!" When, in reality, we just don't know 100% (funny things about these NOVEL viruses) yet and it's dangerous to act on this until we know 100%. From all the sources that I have been reading/listening to, I'd predict we can get herd immunity, but there still is a ways to go before we're certain about that. And until that happens, it is prudent to act like we can't get herd immunity.
  11. If you did a bit of a flipped classroom model it could work. I know my reality is probably different from other teachers, but I could see teaching 15 students for half a day, then another 15 online or the other half. It is contingent on the students doing the work to prepare for an online lesson....that may be tricky.
  12. You should keep it as a souvenir as a sad reminder of the times. Hopefully the type of reminder you can look back upon if a few years and laugh to how ridiculous things were (and not a harbinger of future ridiculousness).
  13. Much longer and I won't be just a resident, I'm going to be Mayor of Mulletville. Edit: I know when he gets back to work, my barber is going to get the tip of all tips.
  14. Would you describe it as a beautiful letter? Trump likes his beautiful letters...
  15. Voted Gary Smith Nominating Jim Sandlak
  16. I would say he did the prudent thing. Severity of symptoms can vary wildly. So, if in doubt, never a bad idea to get tested.
  17. I've been delving deeper into online learning delivery methods. Flipgrid, Microsoft Teams (and other Office apps), as well as making very basic YouTube videos.
  18. The party nomination system seems to be broken. Heh, I doubt Trump is the best candidate the GOP could trot out either. Party's can't be scared to go with a relative unknown (Canada is guilty of this too). How well known was Obama before he first ran for president?
  19. Externalize all expenses possible. Isn't that capitalism's dirty little secret?
  20. Since when was taking precautions around a pandemic socialism?
  21. Voted Gary Smith Nominating Jim Sandlak
  22. Heh, "Plans are for Commies and the Danish" and he ended with the best point
  23. I guess it's too hard not to cough in the air when your hands are occupied by our new appendage, the phone?
  24. I remember him mentioning it when listing a whole bunch of possibilities. He definitely didn't focus on remdesivir as much as hydroxychloroquine or clorox or UV light. He's not some great visionary for mentioning it. It's more like the kid who yells "BINGO!" after every number is called....eventually he'll be right.
