But that's the thing, it's not just bullpen depth. They only have 5 starters. 3 outfielders (4 if you count Merrifield, but then you have someone batting around .200 at 2B). Espinal and Biggio aren't striking fear in anyone anymore so they only positions they have okay depth at is catcher and 1B. In Cleveland, Shatkins were never able to get over that hump into consistent contender, and I don't see them being able to do that here either. If Rogers wasn't willing to open the purse strings for Gausman and Bassitt, this team would be a basement dweller.

Yep, they also traded away all their hitting depth to Arizona....who is leading their division in part to the contributions Gurriel and Moreno are making. This team has a good core, but not even close enough to support it. You can't be one injury (or underperformer) away from disaster and that is where they are at.

I still don't think it looks good. Holding out and demanding to be traded rarely looks good to me. The only team I don't blame players for holding out to get out of is Arizona.

Agree. Not moving out assets to clear cap space, only to want to do the same with the Severson contract in another 2 to 3 years.

It will be for the best. Hopefully he can work things out fairly quickly. He doesn't have to be the next Halladay, but he can't be the next Romero.

You forgot Gustavo Chacin They gotta do something about Manoah. I like the Roy Halladay treatment, even if we have no starting pitching depth past the top 5, Manoah has to figure this out and working it out in the Majors clearly isn't working.
