  1. So police confirmed that 2 suspicious packages found on Monday and Tuesday in town were both pipe bombs..both in the name neighborhood just above me almost.

    1. Odd.

      Odd.

aren’t they saying it’s someone who’s deliberately distributing the packages just to alarm officials?

I feel like I heard something about this a couple of months ago

      Dazzle

Those people need to be caught and punished severely. Same as those idiots doing arson.

  2. Well..helped someone move yesterday and some unknown thing that I touched gave me contact dermatitis..now I'm stuck with swollen, itchy hands and marks on body for a bit til it clears up

  3. Well..after 3 days of a supposed head cold, discovered I have chickenpox at nearly 33..guess I'm indoors now for awhile.

Crazy! Did you ever have it as a child? I've heard it's quite a bit worse as an adult than as a child. Not that it was at all enjoyable as a child.

Neither me or my sis had it as kids somehow, I got it from being around mum while she had shingles. It hasnt been all that bad beyond a constant headache and difficulty swallowing at times, since its in mouth too. Havent had too bad of itching either somehow.

  4. 3 ambulance and 2 firetrucks have passed by my place with sirens and lights on in the last 20 mins...what is going on..

      maybe brock got traded.

  5. 3 streets in town got shut down after the bit of snowfall we got yesterday from conditions and accidents..Guess people will rush to get snow tires on now.

    1. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Every year, if you can get them on in September/October. Or you can get all weather tires year round.

But that's more wear on the tires.

    2. -AJ-

      -AJ-

I never realized how amazing snow tires were until I started using them in the past two years. Night and day over all-season tires.

Alf’s scooter has snowys’ year round.

  6. Apparently there was an apparent abduction involving a child in town Sunday afternoon that lead to 2 people injured and the suspect killed by police after a 10 hour operation...https://globalnews.ca/news/9061983/suspect-dead-2-women-hurt-kamloops-child-abduction/

      Dazzle

Great job by the police to rescue two women and a child. The suspect was apparently shot by police too.

  7. Virtanen officially released from his KHL contract now due to unnamed breach of contract

Yeah, this shouldn't be an attack on Virtanen given the current situation happening in the KHL.

      So.

      Finland?

      Switzerland?

      Coconuts

Yeah, I don't think anyone can lord this over him, he's far from the only player who's bailed out of Russia with everything going on.

  8. 5 and a half hours at emergency room yesterday for chest/back pain..Doc said it sounds like gallstones, how fun.

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

"Sounds like gallstones"....sounds like a typical BC Health staff response.  Why wouldn't we expect an accurate and definitive diagnosis in this province?  Good health to you, but with the third world health care system we have in BC, you will better off if I wished you good luck.

  9. Got in truck at end of work and it registered a 49 degree temp after baking in the sun all day...I think I'm gonna spend the rest of the hotter days in the one building that has A/C

    1. Guest

      Guest

Next time leave one door of the truck open, and then open & close the other door a few times.  This pushes the hot air out of your truck.  It will still be scorching hot but you may drop the temperature down by 5 degrees.

  10. So someone in town got electrocuted on a job site yesterday and suffered burns from the armpits down..rumored to have lost a hand, though I haven't seen that in writing.

    1. Zhukini

      Zhukini

Damn that’s scary I was watching a video the other day about someone who was inches away from a lightning bolt but ended up ok because he had his hand on his bike and the rubber tires kept him grounded

  11. Having break at work and apparently an old school BC Lions guy is here visiting some people he knows of our crew..Lefty Hendrickson

    1. Nuxfanabroad

      Nuxfanabroad

Better than Al Pacino's Lefty, sellin' furgazis..that fellah was KNOWN, forgettaboutit!

  12. Well..phone died out on me an hour into my workday yesterday..had to spend $120 on a temporary replacement since it's completely toast, what fun..

    1. goalie13

      goalie13

There's your problem.  You should never use a phone made from toast.  Not only is the screen crumbly, but they have no water resistance at all.  They just get soggy.

    2. Roger Neilsons Towel

Sometimes you just gotta get up and take a number and keep playing. Hopefully the rest of your week is better. Cheers

  13. Firetruck with everyone in plastic suits over them (assuming covid protocol) just quietly pulled up next door with just lights flashing, accompanied with 2 ambulances, in and out in 15 mins with one person taken away on a gurney.

  14. Well that show I'm rusty..2 days back at work after over a year..and I go in winter boots instead of steel toed boots like needed, only realizing the mistake when walking in the house after work.

    1. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Good thing occupational safety was so sharp as well. ;)

    2. GoCanucks16

      GoCanucks16

you know, steel-toed boots are designed to slice your toes off in case of a crushing load falling on your foot. this is because the alternative is having the toes crushed, which is much more difficult (if not impossible) to repair surgically than having to simply reattach the toes. they don't protect against damage completely and are actually designed to inflict a reduced harm in case of necessity. a lot of people don't know this.

  15. Bleh...waking up to snow and it hasnt stopped since the morning yet...too early for this much

    1. brilac

      brilac

That’s neat! I really like snow!

  16. ...3 schools put on temporary lockdowns to start their days for awhile this morning, after someone was shot and sent to hospital with non-life threatening injury. No suspects found.

  17. I went outside to toss out some garbage and there was a random cat named Gandalf laying on a toolbox in the yard...very friendly cat..

    3. PrideInThisTeam

      PrideInThisTeam

@Roberts Gandalf the slate grey, to be exact. And he just hung out with me in the yard for awhile until I went back inside, looking for attention the whole time @Ghostsof1915

  18. Julien out as coach for at least the rest of Montreals series after being taken to hospital experiencing chest pains..Kirk Muller replacing him in the meantime. Always hope its nothing too serious.

Julien had to have a coronary stent put in his heart, so he's gone back to Montreal for now.

^ thats a very simple procedure now. They go in through a blood vessel in your leg and pop that little sucker right into your artery.

    4. kingofsurrey

      kingofsurrey

Relative had a stent installed...  super quick and easy.  Simple procedure now.

  19. So apparently the woman who fell from a balcony and died on wednesday in toronto is very likely someone I went to school with, shame

  20. Back to work tomorrow after 2 months off...Why can't it be the work time that goes fast instead..

    1. RRypien37

      RRypien37

Just find a job you genuinely joy/have a passion for and neither will be an issue.

  21. One year, one way 975k deal for Motte to come back, I don't mind that at all.

  22. I put in an offer on hopefully my first place that was for rent...though it seems too good to be true and unlikely to be accepted, but hey who knows, anything can happen.

    1. coastal.view

Well..after almost a week of waiting, got a response saying they found someone else without even bothering to respond to me. Oh well, that was expected.

  23. 1 more day of work until probably 2 months off..time for a nice vacation.

A lot of my buddies are like this, which i'm grateful for as we all became parents at different times, as well as grew up and are career minded, which of course cuts into "bro" time.  Friends like that are timeless, cherish them with a good beer and solid laughs.

  25. 13 years since last seeing a good friend in person and I get a dinner invite to catch up on life..a welcome surprise.
