  1. Ever occur to you that Kesler just may be the most least capable captain on this team? Think about it.
  2. Agree and more...his "losing his mind" stunt in Calgary was just that, a stunt to "inspire" his team. He did that in between periods when he had more than enough time to calm down and cool off. What he did was theatrical and the players saw through it. If he hadn't lost them before that, he lost them then. He is a phoney and phoney's don't lead a team of pros.
  3. I wanted him here last June, and now I want him gone. There are only two coaches that have had a worse impact on the Canucks in their history: Laforge and Keenan. He has to go.
  4. Kassian is coming along nicely. He is doing exactly what the coach is asking him to do, figure out the D side of his game first and not run around looking for hits which would take him out of position. If he was screwing up like half the guys in this thread are suggesting, he'd be on the 4th line with minimal minutes. Torts doesn't feline-foot around with accountability. Maturity takes a different course of time for different people - Kassian is taking a bit longer than others. When he gets it all together, he will be a force. Re Hodgson, why is it never suggested he was a problem in the dressing room? That was a huge part of getting him out of here. The timing may not have been good, but to use a business analogy when a owner or mgr has a problem employee, no matter how talented they may be, if they are affecting the rest of the team get rid of the problem asap.
  5. Kassian is still a work in progress, albeit looking better all the time, but this endless comparison to Hodgson is somewhat irrelevant now Torts is the coach - Hodgson is definitely not a Torts type of player.
  6. Agreed....can't believe people are suggesting that pycho come back here. If Keenan was so good, why isn't he coaching anymore? I can't stand looking at the guy when he is on a hockey panel.
  7. Excellent analogy....consider yourself now sacrificed for the sanity of the rest of us....and take Keenan with you. Kidding of course.
  8. Someone actually suggested Keenan come back here as GM? WTF!!!
  9. YouTube is great for assessing how Tortorella treats the press, and really who cares if he puts them in their place; however a lot of opinions are being formed based on the HBO series. Come on, how much of that is reality TV?....do any of us really think he talks to the players like that game in, game out? From what I have seen he stands up for his players, holds the refs accountable, and brings a very aggressive, gritty style to the game. Just what we need here. Now, Gillis just has to make some deals. Thats what's been lacking.
  10. I doubt any other coach selection would have brought a reaction like this....which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The team needs a jolt of adrenalin and now we got it. Can't wait for the season to start.
  11. Funniest thing I've seen for a long time.....good one!
  12. Yup, remember that now, but my comments still stand.
  13. Sekeres and Price today spent pretty much their entire show today whaling away about Tortorella being a bad choice. They even had some staged call-ins including one twit from Kelowna stating he'd boycott the team if they hired him. Troy from White Rock had his usual paid guest spot but his comments were too unintelligible to confirm where he stood. The more they do that, the more I want the guy to come here.
  14. Skeletor was on 1040 today talking like it was a done deal. Doubt he has any inside track but only a few days ago he was whaling away how poor a choice Torts would be, now he has changed his tune and was cautiously positive. Man I wish he'd go back to covering the CFL. Even he couldn't criticize a Buono team.
  15. Has done it often but this one happened to get some attention. Your point is valid however, Torts loses his mind regularly, and never draws a second glance from the refs.
  16. AV has done his share of calling out refs. Unfortunately it didn't work out too well. http://www.theprovince.com/sports/hockey/canucks-hockey/Vigneault+venomous+after+bench+minor+costs/8043380/story.html
  17. Not a chance of this happening and ego is only one part of it. Tortorella has what, 2 years or so left on his contract at 1.5M per year give or take. Accepting an asst position means the Canucks would have to match that at a min, or buy him out then pay him less than head coach. He's better off sitting on his rear end for a year or until the next round of firings takes place. And why would he go work for a guy with less experience, less success as a head coach? We have a team with too much salary tied up in goalie #1 and #1A, don't think MG would a pitch head coach #1 and #1A to ownership.
  18. Oh it will be over soon and we can go back to worrying who will fill that 4th line wing role. Then again, maybe it won't be over soon.
  19. From a pure marketing perspective, Torts is an owners dream. The profile his hiring would create for the team would be tough to top, even more so now AV replaced him. Realizing they have to weigh everything including hockey considerations, but a businessman will also strongly consider the marketing factor as long as the negative element can be managed. I'd imagine that was a big component of the interview. The other candidates just don't bring any WOW factor. Torts sure does.
  20. Ok, got it. That's why winning FO% and losing Malholtra hurt so much. Makes sense.
  21. Gillis has to make an impact. I'm betting Torts now the more I think about it. He is the antithesis of AV in personality. I sure would like to know how Botch thinks the interview went extremely well. The local media are freakin out, which is great.
  22. Could you explain zone matching a bit more? Never hear of that term before. AV started that?
  23. I'm sure Torts would take a year off rather than take an asst position. He's getting paid anyway. Between now and next season there will be other coaches gassed and Torts would be a great immediate, short term solution. He's in good shape.
  24. I'm beginning to warm up to Torts getting the job, if only because Skeletor (Gallagher) is so freaked about it.
  25. All of that, AND, he jells his hair. Come on, 50 years old and he jells?
