  1. I see Petry being shipped off for a better return after being given a better shot for minutes in Detroit. He'll recoup them a 3rd or even a 2nd at the tdl this or next year. If det can retain that's almost a guarantee GMs love depth for picks at the tdl
  2. Cossa a bust? Worst defense in the league? Calm down sir. He's tracking comparatively to Ullmark and is younger in a FAR more questionable system/team environment for defensive support and talent. Looking at what Yzerman is doing the timeline of the contracts he's taken in vs what and who he's drafted to make the claim he's as bad as shanahan or has no clue shows you've not been paying attention to what he's building. Case in point from hire to last season, point totals for the wings are as follows 39, 48, 74 and 80. Vs Vancouver in the same timeline 78, 50, 92, 83. Which team is showing progression?
  3. The kid is just pure money and such an amazing player. I Miss Forsberg the Great because he argued for literally 2 years with me that Makar from the AJHL was not worth the pick and he was over hyped and somehow wasn't going to translate. I don't do the "told ya so" type nonsense but in just this one instance I wish he was around so i could rub it in a bit before he reminded me that makar and his Avs won a cup and the Nucks still havent. Also Lol Philly....LOL
  4. It is Messier and OEL hands down. Messier because we know why. OEL because he just wasn't worth it and has handcuffed the team for almost a decade because of it
  5. I don't fool you for a second? Was I trying to? Looking at the last 15 pages of your posts effectively calling out everyone with a differing opinion sure doesn't seem like gatekeeping at all. Because not jumping on the ridiculous all is good and great bandwagon is negative? Until we see him play, play to his capabilities and stay healthy being a bit reserved is not bad, it is common sense. I've been watching Canucks hockey for almost 50 years and I know full well how often things go sideways. I am quite ok being a shade more reserved than some and that's not negativity, it's called common sense. You can keep banging your drum however loud you want I don't care. But don't crap on others because they don't tow your line because that's where I will care. Until then though; So in english, kick rocks with your patronizing holier than thou attitude because I really don't care to hear it anymore
  6. I'd say out of the entire list there only Morrisey/Karlsson had a questionable partner. Give Hughes the same calibre D pairing as Lindholm, Makar or Fox and he'd be near a top 5 candidate for sure.
  7. Geez you hopey changey types sure are relentless. Not everyone with a wait and see mentality is the enemy. Honestly, it's nauseating how much you've populated this thread dictating that anyone not on your bandwagon is somehow crapping on this. You can knock that petulant nonsense off at any time. What we have is a current potential top 4 defenseman we have not seen anything short of 4 games from with an injured shoulder in a contract year. Your insistence on everything will be ok is all well and good from your end, but anyone with a differing point of view or a let's just wait and see mentality is not wrong simply because they don't agree with you. You're kind of like the low rent apollo because he'd at least allow people a differing point of view without being so tragically dismissive. As for Hogz and Podz being unable to land a spot on the roster, that's common sense thinking in that if two of our best prospects are still unable to crack the roster a team that has been unable to do anything with the same essential core for almost 6 years is probably not going to be a whole lot more successful without improved depth across the middle. So you can stow your circuitous "if you're not with me you're wrong nonsense" and allow people to have a more measured approach to things because gate keeping hockey fandom and yucking other people's yums because they don't have the same opinion as you is just kind of pathetic.
  8. Because we have not had a so called "top pairing RHD" in forever. It is an almost foregone conclusion we will see them have top PP minutes together as well as semi consistent shifts. There's to much hype to not see it happen.
  9. The biggest issue comes down to the ehrhoff factor. Edler in his prime allowed Ehrhoff in the regular season to be an offensive machine because he was almost the perfect rover for him. Hughes is NOT that to Hronek and we stand to potentially see a purely offensive pairing which does not work and not a thing Tocchet would be keen to ice on the regular. Should that change and we see a 15-30 game pairing of Hughes/Hronek we will see some solid point totals but also I expect some defensive lapses. Hronek will be paid based on production as much as he will defensive acumen. The issue is that PP time with Hughes/Petey will inflate the hell out of his totals just like the twins did Ehrhoff who left for a solid pay day and "shot at the cup" in buffalo lol It's almost worth hoping we do not see a Hronek/Hughes pairing because defensively it could be a nightmare, while offensively could light it up. But more importantly, again judging by the contracts of top 4 RHD or even fringe top 4 rhd over the last 3 seasons Hronek could easily command $7.5+ million. Just think of what Devon toews is going to be commanding in Colorado after this season while being paired with makar. Is he a great partner like edler/ehrhoff? An all around solid defenseman on his own? or a player riding an incredible top line and franchise defenseman? Where does Hronek fall in with that? because that will be the benchmark That's what we don't know about with Hronek yet. Hell, I am still on the fence until i see how that shoulder stands up to the first 30 games of the season as it stands. But I have concerns about what a breakout season will be doing to his contract negotiations knowing that OELs dead cap will be around $4.7 million when him and Pettersson are renewing their contracts.
  10. There's almost no chance he doesn't start with Hughes. After that it's hard to say because if they're a defensive nightmare it's gonna be another year of blender matching until something sticks for more than 15 games.
  11. I'd prefer to see a mediocre or average first year from him because with the contracts top 4 RHD are getting he could very well screw us if he rides Huggy's train
  12. lol respectfully if we're going for it with this core and Hogz and Podz; our best actual prospects right now are non factors all we're going for is mediocrity. It would be like sleeping your way to the middle in an office position
  13. Zuckerberg gets it. because he himself said he was bullied brutally as a kid. He can take a punch. Bigger or not Musk has never faced any level of adversity or actual risk to his person being raised wealthy. Zuck is fit and lean and fast. Musk is fat slow and his actual ability to step on a treadmill is questionable. This would be like the blowhard that challenged wimpy Trudeau to a boxing match and got fed his lunch even though he was like 40 pounds bigger
  14. Toronto and NYR having $170 million worth of players sitting in the press box injury free and come playoffs NY has a starting line up of F: Kucherov-McDavid-Pastrnak D: Fox-Lindholm G: Ullmark/Oettinger That's why. That's EXACTLY why. Imagine a player like Kucherov that could year in and year out play say 20 regular season games and then sit until the playoffs. The Rags could have a near $200 million cap hit and field a starting line up that would be an Olympic calibre squad for every game depending on who they faced.
  15. Milly was the guy who could draft the supplementary players that could win championships but he couldn't draft a game breaker or star to save his life.
  16. Seems X isn't as all reaching as he thought. Guess firing all the engineers and programmers wasn't the best idea because a few things were obviously missed. Even if it is a google browser I mean....
  17. Canadian oil is underproducing because they allowed the US to do it in the 80s when the US system flooded money in to ensuring that Canada only had 1 customer for their product and that customer wasn't even Canadian. The government does this and that but again, we do not truly refine our fuel here we end up buying back the bulk of it from US producers. To say that we subsidize oil to the tune of billions annually and then do nothing for them is kind of not on point. At days end oil and gas companies dictate the price. We have VERY clear evidence of this right now because of how fuel is priced over oil. Hell it jumped again over night in the Okanagan for no reason other than "hey, it's Sunday jack it up they'll blame the government again" Fuel prices directly inflate the literal cost of EVERYTHING as increased transportation costs, increased energy costs get passed directly down to the consumer. It costs 2 cents more to make this after the most recent fuel hike. OK but i costs 2 cents more as well to get the raw materials to fabricate it. Cool. now it also costs 2 cents more to make it. then 2 cents more to ship it to a holding facility. 2 cents more to load it. 2 cents more to transport it to a store. 2 cents more to unload it. That adds up very fast and it's damning to us as consumers because we pay it yet all the hard done by oil and gas companies have barely recorded record profits for the last 8-10 consecutive quarters and need our sympathy
  18. He ran so people like Jim Carrey could walk.
  19. LOOoooool OK I was quiet until this point because I knew you'd make this statement. lemme fill ya in. LYING about health issues, shouting racist tropes. Crapping on women, the lgbtq community, minorities, other religions and the disenfranchised is NOT censorship. It's literally refusing to allow people to be f**king awful human beings. Facebook, twitter ALL social media platforms have a terms and conditions policy that clearly states hate speech will not be tolerated. That lies and misinformation will not be tolerated. THAT is the censorship you are pissed off about "the left" accepting. The ones in which private companies are literally just following their own rules because it's their business. Literally just refusing to allow people to utterly crap on other people because of how they look, who they love or what they believe in. That's not censorship mate. That's progress Yet somehow you manage to stay utterly silent on the following. The following by the way is totally NOT censorship and TOTALLY different than being silenced on social media platforms. Florida & Texas: Don't say gay 1681 books banned in GOP states Historical censorship of minority treatment in America in education centres The changing of school curriculums to ensure anything related to race or orientation in history is scrubbed or changed. Holocaust denial and the refusal of allowing it to be taught including the closing and non funding of centres dedicated to the holocaust in 7 US states Censorship of universities studying disinformation campaigns (jim jordan America First Legal) And soooooo many more. So tell me. When you sit and claim the left is censoring things and they are using "woke tropes" why are you ignoring LITERAL US State sponsored and pushed censorship of history, books, the ability to identify as gay and this is without mentioning the US states held by GOP members dictatating what private businesses are allowed to do or how their employees are allowed to conduct themselves. Just wanna ask about that blatant and laughable hypocrisy. especially now that X (formerly known as twitter) is allowing formerly banned individuals by the thousands back on the platform that were banned for violence, hate speech doxxing and worse of individuals who were standing up for basic human decency. by elon Musk Musk, who is at the heart of and central to all of this. So. double standard. Why?
  20. So, there is no definitive data in Canada as they do not and almost refuse to chart it. In the US they've only been looking at it for about 2 decades. But the numbers are staggering. You can see home purchases happen and within weeks see development signs on the lawn for multi family housing. These companies buy the lots/homes. Develop them in to multi family. Buy them through a shell at presale. Rent them out thus skewing the market and artifically raising the prices, sell them for a profit and then lather/rinse/repeat I started in the late 90s with seniors housing developments but has since over the last 20 years moved towards full scale development of multi level housing and family homes in canada. Again, there is no definitive data outside of these links but do go ahead and look in to it. It's shocking as hell. The moment they made housing nothing more than a line item on a profit sheet housing in canada was in trouble The suggestion is thaty the financialization of our housing market is being caused by single individuals using multi home investments but it is not, it is large companies acting through subsidiaries and shell companies that buy, develop, re-purchase, rent and then re-sale these places that are skewing the data. Canada has been designated as one of the most at risk nations to this due to the centralization of everyone to less than 10 major urban centres in the nation with an already exhausted housing supply. Honestly, look in to it. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/real-estate-investment-firms-financialization-housing-1.6538087 https://www.homelesshub.ca/resource/financialization-housing-canada-1#:~:text=“Financialization of housing” refers to,to maximize returns for shareholders. https://www.thestar.com/business/as-canada-s-housing-crisis-rages-on-is-financialization-really-to-blame/article_15bb63b1-4749-512e-88f2-8d4674dc793c.html? https://www.housingchrc.ca/en/financialization-housing https://policyalternatives.ca/publications/commentary/financialization-housing-must-be-confronted
  21. A lot of home purchases lately are corporate purchases or financialization of property for development. The estimate I read was something like 1 in 5 homes being purchased for investment but another 1- in 5 or more being purchased by corporations for profit A lot of the instant home purchases are being done by corporations and development corps or REITs
  22. 129 games in their last two years of jr. 267 points. 40 points in 33 playoff games. 5 foot 10 inches. 172 pounds Name that player Willander means more to us even at his base line than Benson does. We don't have the team to highlight or accentuate what Benson can possibly do. The surrounding pieces just aren't there. With so many smaller wingers fighting for two whole spots what use would he be to us now or in 3 years if we couldn't maximize his potential because we didn't have the surrounding cast? We've a very similar style player that did more in their last 2 years of if jr on a much worse team and people wanna get rid of him.
  23. Look at corporate housing in Canada. It's eye opening.
