  1. People flocked to Surrey because it was much cheaper than the surrounding areas. The prices in Surrey now aren't any better nor are the prices in Coquitlam or any other place in Greater Vancouver. It really doesn't matter who is elected the NDP said they didn't want to ruin the BC economy when asked about doing something about the BC housing crisis and seem to think the tax on empty houses will correct the prices. Which it won't. It is actually hurting a lot of people who have cabins or vacation homes that no one could ever live in year round. The liberals let criminals launder dirty money which is definitely a reason why the housing exploded these last couple of years but the Bank of Canada also let this happen so it's not solely a provincial problem. The NDP who were in prior to the last Liberal government were atrocious. There is a reason why they won 2 seats if that. Honestly, what any BC government needs to do to correct the housing is build houses, condo's, whatever you can. Build, build, build. What will happen is the market will be flooded with new homes, condos, etc and no one will be able to sell for these outrageous prices and a huge correction will happen. You'll see prices drop 50% at least in a relatively short period of time. At the same time, The Bank of Canada has to stop laundering dirty money. We had Chinese criminals spending 1 million + over the asking price just because they knew once they bought the property any price they sell it for is clean money. If they paid 3.5m for a 2.5m property and then turn around and sell that property for 2m they didn't really lose any money. They gained 2 million of clean money. These criminals with their dirty money still haven't sold their properties so if the market starts getting flooded you can bet these people will likely start panicking and selling their homes for dirt cheap compared to what they paid and they will not care. The NDP nor the BC Liberals want to do this though. This housing crisis is so ridiculous. The only people who like it are the ones who already own property. If you don't then you have little chance of ever owning anything good in BC. 700sq townhouse, with no yard, in Burnaby is $700,000. That is crazy.
  2. Maybe it was both. I remember players thought they didn't practice enough and were shocked that Torts didn't watch game tape of the team they were about to play... Or the time Hansen came early and then Torts starting yelling at him for being late... that was around the time the players were just like this guy is an idiot and stopped playing for him.
  3. He's only 20 years old and in a game like this where you playing huge minutes that's a lot of pressure. I think he still has a ton of potential but like a lot of Tampa Bay players, his stock has fallen. Not everyone is Heiskanen who is looking like he's going to be the next best dman in the league.
  4. It wasn't practicing shootouts he didn't practice the powerplay. Makes no sense at all. He is a god awful coach. He is the reason why Lu left. Benched him in the outdoor game for Eddie Lack. Made no sense at all. He just likes to show everyone he is the man and if you don't listen to him you're out.
  5. Sergachev looked very nervous out there especially today. His ice time dipped compared to last game too. They didn't look good except for the first game in the first period I agree. I think they just always thought they would get it going and win 4 in a row. First off, it literally is an excuse. You lose your best dman and arguably the best dman in the entire league and it's going to hurt your team. Especially when you have little D depth. Second, I am not saying it's the only reason why they lost but its a pretty significant reason. It's like saying oh Erik Karlsson in 2016-17 didn't almost get his team to the Stanley Cup Finals. One player can make all the difference in the world especially when they are as good as Hedman.
  6. Their number 1 dman was injured all series and didn't play the last two games aside from Mcdonough they really didn't have anyone. Just goes to show when you can't get your forwards the puck your team sucks.
  7. I will say that last year I thought Tampa was too soft for the playoffs but this year I felt they had great goaltending and a good enough PP to overcome that with everyone being older and more experience as well... but wow this just goes to show soft skill players don't win in the playoffs.
  8. Wow. Did not see that coming. The loss of Hedman was very evident out there. Sergachev looked lost out there a lot at times, not his fault though. Tampa out played since game 1 completely. Just embarrassing for them. Points stock has fallen quite a bit. Didn't really do anything all series long.
  9. Surprised it took this long. Last two teams, he led them to President's Trophies and to Stanley Cup Finals. Also led The Canucks and Rangers to their highest point totals ever.
  10. Jamie kills Cersai by choking her to death with his gold hand. They have foreshadowed this heavily and the series keeps showing his gold hand after Cersei scenes so there is no doubt in my mind Jamie is gonna choke her ass.
  11. Sharks should have won game 1 and 2 but clearly, Vegas was better last night. They need to win next game so Vegas doesn't have the chance to end the series at home. Fleury has looked mediocre thus far which I kinda expected. I didn't think he would have the playoffs he had last season.
  12. http://www.mynhldraft.com/2014-nhl-draft-prospect-rankings/ furthermore, you can see only one projection had Draisatl at 3.
  13. So the Oilers scouts were high on Draisaitl and this somehow proves a point that the Oilers can't scout? Almost everyone had Sam Bennett in the top 3. Drafting Draisatl was a steal. They took Draisailt early and passed on the much higher rated Bennett. They stole Draisatl from another team taking him early. It turned out beautifully for them as Sam Bennett is pretty much a 3rd line player and Draisatl is a 50 goal, 100 point top line player.
  14. He wasn't projected to go 3rd. He was projected to go 4/5. Oilers took him and passed on the much better-ranked player in Sam Bennett. Bennett was ranked by multiple people to go first overall. Imagine if we were in that position as the Oilers were and passed on a guy who many had going 1st overall and drafted a player who was ranked as far back as 7th. They took a move that most people wouldn't have made and it turned out perfectly. He would go first overall on a redraft.
  15. Nylanders reminds me exactly of Goldobin. Imagine if we paid Goldobin 7m a year, lol. Goldobin won't even be on the team next year.
  16. They took Draisatl 3rd which now looks like a steal.
  17. The only Obvious players who are untouchables are Pettersson and Hughes. Horvat is 100% expendable if you're trading for a 1st overall centre and already have a number 1 two way centre in Pettersson. Markstrom made this team look way better than it actually was. Without Markstrom, this team was last in the NHL. If you give up Horvat + keep your first this year and get the first overall... The rebuild is looking pretty solid.
  18. I picked a lot of Boston players in my hockey pool. I expect them to utterly destroy Toronto.
  19. Demko or Markstrom would be the only person of value we would have exposed. You're diminishing the value or either Demko or Markstrom by saying well one of them will be a "backup". That is not true. They both could, and likely both will, be starting goalies. So we would be giving up a starting goalie for nothing because we didn't plan ahead. That is just stupidity. If Markstrom has value then you trade him and if Demko doesn't turn out then sign a free agent goalie. It's better than losing Markstrom or Demko for nothing. Markstrom isn't that young. By the time this team is ready to be a contender, he will be too old or in his last years. It makes way more sense to trade Markstrom while his stock is high.
  20. You can only protect one goalie in the expansion draft so you are either trading Markstrom, losing Demko in the expansion draft or trading Demko.
  21. What's he going to do pulling his Vezina winning goalie? The only chance they have is if he plays unbelievably.
