  1. as Dreger said unless OEL puts a deadline on his tradability then this deal could drag on. The reason why I think it could drag on is cause you've a new GM that won't want to look like a fool in his first trade, everyone would be low balling him. He will take this as far as he can to try and squeeze out the most. I don't think any trade will happen until Boston decides what to do with Krug. If Krug signs with Boston then I could see a trade with Vancouver happening pretty quickly. At that point there will only be one party at the table and you can't allow Vancouver to use that as leverage by dragging things along.
  2. He literally has a NMC he isn't going anywhere. Sign Cernak to an offer sheet and force their hand. They are going to have a hard time dumping players unless giving up picks.
  3. Arizona has to be waiting on what Boston does with Krug. Hopefully the offers are really low like 2nd round pick and Jake Virtanen / mid prospect
  4. There's no contract to be traded. It was essentially a fine handed out to The Canucks. I can't see anyway the league allows it to be traded unless they look at the situation Arizona is in and decide to let them do it to help them survive... I doubt this though.
  5. If Arizona wants to drop to league minimum on the cap Eriksson should be a player they are wanting to take back. If you look at players they can trade OEL is really the only one unless they want to unload Keller and honestly I am not sure they get anything of Value for Keller. He is not a 7m dollar player and I can't see anyone giving up much to take him. I see no one being interested in Kessel after his year. Dvorak and Schmatz have value but I don't think Arizona can afford to give them up. Raanta I doubt they can dump. OEL should have a lot of value but if he sticks to his guns and refuses to waive his NMC then no he doesn't.. Honestly Arizona can't really cut salary unless they play ball with Vancouver/Boston.
  6. Grabner was in the doghouse all year and then had a pretty spectacular playoffs.. looks like Arizona didn't care lol
  7. force him to waive his NMC... that was pretty obvious.
  8. So basically if OEL holds out he is going to be a canuck. Quality organization Arizona is running there. Oh, let's force him to waive and then force him to add more teams. What a joke.
  9. Visnovsky used to put up a lot of points and never was considered for the Norris.. comparing point totals doesn't mean players are at the same level. OEL is a far better player than Seabrook.
  10. Seabrook was never at the level of OEL.
  11. He is 35 at the end of his contract and almost every good dman plays well into their mid 30's. It's once they get over 35 their play starts to fall off.
  12. One OEL is far better than Eriksson. Two the contract isn't anything remotely close to being the same as it is buyout friendly. We have no dman that is projected to be a number 1/2 guy in the system. Everything you said was wrong.
  13. It has nothing do with a UFA or a trade.. why would you think a trade makes any difference.. You took a discount cause the GM tells you that is what needs to be done in order to compete for a cup and then he goes out and trades for a guy with a huge salary and larger cap hit and you think this magically changes things? It changes nothing. That logic makes absolutely no sense. also what cups did they win? They won one in 2011 and these cap friendly contracts were signed well after that and they haven't won since.
  14. No. Holland was going to ask Lidstrom permission to sign Hossa and Hossa just said don't worry about it I will take less. He did this because he told Lidstrom he would be the highest paid player.
  15. 3 guys who are tops in the league at their positions and they take huge discounts upwards of 35%+ and then they potentially bring in a guy making more than them? Doesn't look good especially if the GM sold them on taking a discount to be a contender. This is why Krug hasn't signed most likely. He doesn't want to take the team friendly discount.
  16. Look at how Boston signs players. I don't see Boston trading for OEL unless salary is retained. You can't be paying Bergeron, Pastrnak and Marchand under 6.9m and then trade for OEL who is making 8.2m. It's a slap in the face to all those guys who took really cheap contracts. Those are basically 3 players who took Mackinnon like contracts.
  17. I did some searching and Friedman said this today on his podcast:
  18. You’re not hearing much out of Boston so it seems like Vancouver is really the interested party here
  19. We also have a need of LD Edler has one year left where he is going to be an effective player and you can't count of Joulevi or Rathbone to replace him. If you can snag OEL you do it. Edler becomes the odd man out after next year but he can always take a discount and play around 15-18 mins a game outside of the top 4.. or you just let him walk or retire. Our PP2 was awful so OEL can play on that or play his off side on PP1.. We need him as much as anybody does and we have the cap space.
  20. You could take Dvorak and OEL and dump Eriksson to them. Something like Eriksson + Virtanen + Gaudette + Juolevi + 1st + 3rd for OEL + Dvorak
  21. Do you also struggle with math? He just turned 29. His contract expires when he is 35. 8.2m is a steal for a number 1 dman who is signed long term and has a contract expire before turning 36. Also a contract that is very easy to buyout. No player traded for OEL will amount to OEL. He is hands down the best player that will be traded in any deal the Canucks make for him. I can't believe people are actually opposed to having OEL and Hughes on the backend for the next 7 years... He's on a team right now where last year he was the 2nd leading score at 44 points, leader scorer had 47, and this year the leading scorer had 45 points. Arizona is a terrible offensive team and OEL put up good numbers.
