it wasn't messier who made the mess, it was keenan. messier just didn't help by being keenan's lackie. his skills were waining but all players reach that point at some point. keenan killed the morale and the closeness of the players. as captain, mess could have stood up for the players when keenan was tearing them down. unfortunately he sided with his dictator coach.

gino invited keenan outside in the parking lot. keenan obliged by trading gino. 

when brian burke was hired as GM, keenan asked him if he knew that he had finally say on all trades? burkie said, yes, but did you know that i can fire you? he eventually did.

Keenan didn't help but Messierf's conduct was flat out disgraceful.  I've never seen a lazier piece of trash in ANY team's jersey, let alone ours.
