I really think they underestimated just what this place means to so many people on deeper personal levels.

When you think about it, this is really old social media. First generation social. The fact that this message board existed so long is pretty amazing. I've always thought there was a ticking clock on this place. Even back in 2013 when I started to participate. In contrast, I used to admin much bigger forums exactly the same as this connected to a really popular site between 1998 and 2003. I didn't start posting here until 10 years after that.

I think my favorite memory of CDC is how cool and supportive people were when I was going through some tough times, forced to fly back east and take care of my mother, put her into a nursing home. Even if people didn't know, I'm grateful for people just being really cool. Thank you for putting up with me. As far as CDC happenings ... The Shinkaruk - Granlund trade thread was pretty epic for a variety of reasons. The meltdown factor was off the chart. Those takes didn't age well. Lol The guy who was Stalin, and he was in character, was pretty funny. Remember more than a few posts by ... alfstonker

Well, it depends on whether Jack Hughes is moving to Vancouver to join his brother ... because ... the only reason these guys are in the NHL is that they all want to play together ... so ... it works both ways.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything ... but this guy makes our team tougher. At least he's not afraid to drop the gloves ...

And just think ... everyone's in better shape. That should lead to more production. Kuz didn't eat waffles this offseason, so that should be good for at least a goal or two.

People trying to find the negative with Hronek at all costs. He does have some defensive challenges, which he corrected last season. His upside is big. He's only 25. Thing is ... I've had him in my pools for a long time and he's been a beast. I was super excited when we got him. He's got much needed intensity and pushback as well. Happy Hronek!
