  4. I highly doubt JS will get a call up this year after what happened at the trade deadline. AV will be concentrating on accustoming the new players in Pahlsson and Kassian to the system and finding the right line combinations before the playoffs begin than taking a look at our AHL depth. I know they tried this out last season, but for good reason as we had horrible depth upfront on the fourth line last year. More than likely he will get called up after the Wolves get eliminated from the playoffs, but he will start on the Wolves next year as well and get a call up if there are injuries.
  5. Does anyone know if @ZackKassian is legit?
  6. "The first shift with the Sedins is something I will never forget. It was pretty special. They're two great players. It was an honour to play with them." - Zack Kassian
  7. Some things that I noticed from Kassian's first day as a Canuck: Seemed to gel easily with any line that he was thrown on. Already has good skating ability and is very agile for a man of his size. Made several nice passes out there and tends to read the play quite well. Very hard to knock off of the puck and uses his size well to protect the puck also I like the fact that Kassian doesn't sound like he has a severe lack of intelligence in his interviews like Lucic does.
  8. That is one of the things that I thought about as well. We needed someone other than Kesler to take tough shutdown minutes and Hodgson was not the man to do it. The organization felt that using Kesler in an offensive role is better than using Hodgson. I actually think Hodgson is more of the type of player that a rebuilding team needs, not a team that is going for the cup even though we all have our dreams of him playing like Linden - he wasn't going to. I am excited to see how this team plays tonight. But, to be honest, this trade will make or break GM MG. If this doesn't pan out, the fan base will run him out of town.
  9. I think we can expect our powerplay to go back to what it was doing last (which was also 1st in the league) by having Kesler and the Sedins playing the majority of the minutes on the first unit. I am just hoping that he is the kind of player that thrives in those conditions which I think it is possible that he can easily become a fan favourite if he makes big hits, fights and scores a goal here and there. We'll just have to wait and see if he can feed off of the crowd or be fed to them...
  10. With Cody gone, all eyes are on Schroeder to be our next up and coming center. I hope he is up for the challenge. With these developments we are likely to see him called up for a game or two to see what we really have and to get the fan base excited about our other prospects. I am eager to see what we have in him and how he will fit our mold. At the very least I hope his speed and defensive game can translate into the bigs.
  11. I don't really think that our top 6 is locked up beyond the Sedins and Kesler. Even then, if anyone in the top 6 stops performing, they are no longer guaranteed to stay there. Right now we have a real need for a playmaker to join the 2nd line with Kesler and Booth. I don't think anyone on our current roster fills that role well enough. Could Schroeder be that player? I could see it happen.
  12. I'm guessing this is what people are talking about...? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFh27vbordk
  13. After a slow start to the year with 7 points in 19 games, Schroeder has since tallied 21 points in 28 games and has scored on a point-per-game pace over his last 12 games. This output could have to do with finally getting more accustomed to rigors of the professional game schedule because he came into this league scoring at a good rate, but had a low productive season last year. Hopefully he can keep stepping up his game and might get called up for a game or two in the next season. However, I don't really see a spot for him on this team until the Sedins retire unless he can convert to wing.
  14. Obviously that blank should be Mats Sundin, then maybe Rodin!
  15. Yeah I can see what you are saying. I didn't know much about the players on the London Knights, maybe it was just the WJC hype getting to me about some of the players on Niagara. Should be an interesting bout nonetheless.
