  1. Why has he only played 13 games? The team has played over 23.
  2. Certainly is looking extremely promising for the Canucks. Petersson is destroying that league and should be a top player in the NHL's regular season. Hopefully Virtanen or one of the other big boys can play with him for playoff runs. He should be able to make/play on the team next year, but do the Nucks want to burn a year of his contract and have him showcase his talent near the end of this year if he is available? Or even next year with the CBA expiring and the possible hockey stoppage? Gradin certainly earned his promotion finding this kid and Tryamkin.
  3. Generational, Elite or just above average, all are good things for the Nucks. He could be a 25 minute player and if they give him a shot on the PP, a PP specialist. He was already pretty damn good on the PK. If the Nucks can take a chance on a 30+ guy and pay him 8 million this year with a clause contract they should take a chance and offer this young up and coming high level prospect/player a significant contract AND include the same clause about the AHL if it keeps him satisfied. They should also see about getting a couple of Russian speaking guys on the team that are around his age. That shouldn't be hard as there will be roster spots up for grabs.
  4. No he didn't, he stated he had no idea of what was happening on the team with regards to playing time, in simple English he wasn't having fun, of course the translation doesn't convey the message very well.
  5. Tied for 2nd in points and third in +/-'s on his team. Team in currently 3rd in standings. Tied for 7th in points for defencemen in league standings and youngest player in that category, averaging 20:43 minutes per game, 5th in the league for hits, ....yep, he is the stud this team needed and this management group managed to alienate him, leave him hanging out to dry, insult him and not bother to explain to him....anything. Then they blamed his wife, the city, him being homesick anything but admit they were wrong. Good draft pick though, very good European scouts. I guess the neg votes are because I gave credit to the European scouts instead of Benning. The rest is just what the club stated and his actual stats.
  6. They will be signed here next year if they want and retire here. Linden has stated that many many times, "they are here as long as they want to play" and besides the team still doesn't have anyone better than them or at lest not enough players better than them.
  7. Burrows made a comment about allowing the trade to help the team in the future because he had so much respect for the fans and city. I wonder if the Sedins will now consider the same, not that the return will be as good unless they start controlling the play more and I know they have said they will not sanction any trade or move but.....
  8. Just wait at sometime one of those goofs will say "win now" like he really believed it.
  9. "Have them play in a winning environment", "to be competitive", "play meaningful games" Who knew that being competitive was intended for only two rookies to TRY to make the team not win games? Who knew that meaningful games meant mind games with the fans? Who knew that "winning environment" was to mean it was a win that they still had a job.
  10. The "stealth" tank WOULD have been while Gillis was here, no goaltending equals a huge drop in the standings without gutting the team of ALL the vets. This Mickey Mouse management group are just incompetent as demonstrated by trading for a player that was going to be placed on waivers just hours prior to them doing it. And a player that wasn't #11 on that teams depth chart for dmen. Linden still says it is a rebuild only because the fans want him to use that name, they are still doing the same thing they did before nothing has changed except they are satisfying the fans by using that word.
  11. Two shoulder injuries and the NHL clamping down on head contact will dampen down "his" game. What was Green doing with him all last year? I know Green is a "trap" coach but still I thought Jake would get more than 12 pts.
  12. real hard to find stats that can't be traced now, I guess a posted pic is a lot harder to figure out. But anyway a pretty decent player drafted by the Nucks but never played a game for them.
  13. Here is really obscure draft pick of the Canucks. In his time as a professional player he play 10 years, played 880 games as professional, scored 347 goals and 539 assists for a total of 886 points as a professional. Now this was WHA and NHL but he was a Canuck draft pick. NHL numbers - 484 games - 519 pts. 1.07 pts per game.
  14. Judging by the employee's comments here I guess the team is re-upping Miller to anther big contract.
  15. $10.00? Are you kidding? Try FREE, the club buys enough tickets to earn the NHL "handout" and give them away as a marketing incentive. Florida had free tickets if you had a Florida drivers licence, Arizona not only gave them away to the university, they provided transportation. Nashville ditto. Not all this year but it is not uncommon.
  16. After multiple shoulder injuries and surgery I doubt he is a long term answer in either fighting or big hits.
  17. Size and toughness, well those are attributes this pacifist management group have gotten rid of by the score to attain other team's "Janes". Sure you don't necessarily need truculence to be a goal scorer and this team needs scorers even Horvat lacks a bit in that department, not much of a fighter, not much of a hitter but he can handle the boards, has enough speed and scoring panache to be iffy for a top line role. But all the trades......sub 6' and under 190 lbs? All the trades this group of mismanagement personnel have ensured that Virtanen is guaranteed a spot regardless of him warranting it, he gets it because he is over 6', over 200 lbs and has some speed. Maybe with a coach like Tort's, who built a line for Kassian to be successful on, Jake can at least not be a liability. Forget about Dorsett as an enforcer, IF he plays again, he likely won't be duking it up much after having surgery on his neck vertebrae. Guddy was never that much of an enforcer and do you really want a dman sitting in the penalty box as much as will be necessary with all these "Janes" needing protection? You mention Peluso as the targeted UFA, your right there, but the team needs two forwards. Maybe Pedan as well. If anyone is watching the playoffs it is very evident that the whistles have disappeared, now for small North American kids they understand and will fight to get the cup but for a lot of young Euro's the world cup, Olympics and representing their country is more important, although that trend is changing but could you see concussion prone Sven, Dahlen, Goldoblin, ....how would this group, as it stands, do in the playoffs? Much like the last time? Worse? There ARE two different seasons and the playoffs are a different beast altogether.
  18. Ya now, everyone was saying put on a tin hat when I started saying it 15 years ago, now the league is almost just "super" beer league. At any rate it is funny, small man defends small men. I just hope Benning and Linden go after a bonifide or at least if not proven, highly rated young prospect, I know I harp on JP, but I really think a deal could be made there, it might be expensive and look bad, but this team isn't doing anything without that type of player (if he works out) over the next 2 to 4 years anyway. I would trade just about anybody on the team to get that kid and they do have a player or two they wouldn't mind saving salary on. Two players that caught my interest are Tryamkin, from his second game on and JP when I watched him play in the worlds and internationally, at 18 he is a point per game kid in the AHL. I don't think he is that far off Mathews.
  19. That is because Bettman started all those new rules that favoured the little players. He reduced hitting, fighting through the check, bodychecking, made a head hit verboten (little guys always are at elbow level) fighting, etc.... I think it was a personal matter.
  20. One thing to think on here is that height and weight are often "exaggerated" in hockey by teams, other sites sometimes have different numbers. Forward prospects? Horvat - 6' - 223 lbs Baertschi - 5' 11" - 192 lbs Boeser - 6' - 192 lbs Rodin - 5' 11" - 185 lbs Boucher - 5' 10" - 195 lbs Granlund - 6' - 183 lbs Goldobin - 6' - 185 lbs Camarossa - 6' - 192 lbs Chaput - 6' 1" - 192 lbs Menga - 6' 1" - 195 lbs Guance - 6' 2" - 217 lbs Defence; Stecher - 5' 10" - 190lbs Hutton - 6' 2" - 207 lbs Tanev - 6' 2" - 195 lbs Sbisa - 6' 2" - 209 lbs Biega - 5' 10" - 190 lbs Edler - 6' 3" - 214 lbs Tryamkin - 6' 7" - 265 lbs Gudbranson - 6' 5" - 220 lbs Juolevi - 6' 2" - 193 lbs A terrifying line up to every team in the league, the next "core"? Two forwards over 200 lbs. Hank - 6' 2" - 183 lbs, Daniel - 6' 1" - 190 lbs, Loui - 6' 2" - 196 lbs, Sutter - 6' 3" - 191 lbs The rebuild needs to start in earnest with a little bit of size, that would be the easiest place to start. If a sub 6' 2" guy ain't scoring, then maybe he can put a little "hurt" on the opposition. They should bring in Fox/Torres. I wonder if Biega is going to be the Dorsett replacement? Neck surgeries are complicated, he might not be able to take too many hits without the possibility of more severe and permanent damage.
  21. To early to project on Boeser, but that statement could be/ is a problem, sure 1rst line on THIS team and they will put up points BUT name 8 other teams they would be/are 1rst line players. Remember Fox is piling up points, had a fantastic release and shot, fights, hits and can't get a sniff, oh yeah, he was bigger than most of the traded for players being over 6' tall. This team is being constructed to be competitive in the regular season, to look good losing.
