[Signing] Canucks sign Carson Soucy
ktcy2 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think we did something good here but we still have have three top 4 dmen in Hughes hronek and Myers. -
The concept of rebuilding is only necessary because of star player signings. Otherwise, without those crazy OEL style contracts this concept is not necessary because you can always get free agencies to fill your needs. Maybe stop signing every young potential player to 6x6 contracts then we don’t have to talk about rebuild all the damn time. Our problems are the boesers, garlands, Myers, OELs, Erikson. Ironoic isn’t it when at some point these players were considered like franchise saviors and they are now our direct immediate problems.

Value? What value … there is none. You retain and let him go for free is the best scenario. -
[Rumour] Canucks interested in Alexis Lafrenière

No to Laff please. Has anyone ever seen this type of so called turnaround work out for a draft bust? No. We have not seen any example of this. What in the world makes you think he can turn things around? If he is that good the rangers would’ve made it work -
Then how are you supposed to build a team then. I don’t see anyone on the knights roster that jumps out and scream “I am only built for the playoffs”… McDavid is a monster in the regular season and means nothing in the playoffs. Does it have to do with how the game is called? If 50% of the penalties go uncalled then what is the point of rules? I truly believe that the “anything can happen” rhetoric is because the game is called different in the playoffs from the regular season. This shouldn’t be the case. The same standard should apply both in the regular season and the playoffs to maintain consistency.

Let’s face it. The nhl playoffs is a complete crapshoot. It isn’t about skill anymore. It’s all about the grind and who is tougher. Refs don’t call the penalties and oilers lose as simple as that. I am a hockey fans for over 20 years and I don’t want to hear all that Stanley cup is the hardest trophy to win bullshit. VGK and the Kraken may be playing each other in the western finals. Let that sink it for a moment. Two of the newest expansion teams playing each other. The so called hardest trophy to in in all sports might be won by expansion teams in the last 7/8 years. Which superstar is left now? Eichel? Robertson? … I mean let’s not pretend the playoffs is about the art of hockey. It’s about which team can grind the most and the fastest. Skilled players don’t mean jack in the playoffs and this is why I lose interests after the first round. You almost know what is gonna happen. Big fast grinding team wins every freaking year. You don’t need your superstars. Just be big and fast and hard working. That’s all.

What did he say that was so bad? Nothing. He was asked about the playoff push. There has not been one playoff push since Covid. So……… of course it’s better than Vancouver. Why do fans read so much into a statement like that? Weird. Just weird on a side note, horvat is 5 times the player Brock is. Don’t group them together.

The amount of kids on this board still being hurt by what horvat said is so funny. We are just exactly the same as Toronto fans. No wonder we are so hated in Canada. We are not the center of the universe guys. There are many cities above us in the nhl that guys would choose to play for. Maybe horvat hated his time here. Who gives a crap what he said in that specific occasion. Move on go Bo go!!!

[Report] Cam Talbot to hit free agency
ktcy2 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
To be fair Martin did not have a fair shot this last season. The whole team was crap -
I don’t understand the loyalty to Brock on this message board. What is it really about him that is different from the Myers, OEL, Ericsson etc. other than the fact that he is a good person? I face palm my face so hard every time I heard people on here saying he should stay because he is nice, he is honest, he is a good person…..
-
Well… he just isn’t as good as we thought he would be. Maybe he is trying and this is all he can do. Him at 6 million bucks is just insane. He is a Pearson type player. Second line winger, pp2, 20 - 25 goal potential. That’s what he is. Let’s not pretend for a moment here that we have a 40 goal sniper who had a down year. This is not what he is even though the price tag says otherwise.
