  1. The concept of rebuilding is only necessary because of star player signings. Otherwise, without those crazy OEL style contracts this concept is not necessary because you can always get free agencies to fill your needs. Maybe stop signing every young potential player to 6x6 contracts then we don’t have to talk about rebuild all the damn time.

Our problems are the boesers, garlands, Myers, OELs, Erikson. Ironoic isn’t it when at some point these players were considered like franchise saviors and they are now our direct immediate problems.

The only consolation is that the Flames are feeling the regret right now.

They chose to bridge Tkachuk to keep Michael Frolik on the roster. This should be a warning to us, as we bridged Petey because we signed Poolman months earlier.

Well I don’t think tkachuk wanted to play in Alberta. Maybe tkahcuk would’ve done the same in van if we drafted him though

153 points mean nothing. This is the most difficult trophy in all of sports to win. All you need is a spot in the playoffs and anything could happen. It's a team game, and teams that are built for the grind, usually win. This shows you how teams can shut superstars down in the playoffs, and how teams are built. Two teams with 4-6 players earning most of the salary cap, that have AHL goalies and suspect defense shouldn't win either. That's you Oilers and Leafs.

I was at the last Leaf game in Vancouver, a Canuck team that didn't make the playoffs beat them in all aspects of the game. Right now, I'd take EP over Matthews, or Marner, or Tavares any day.

Then how are you supposed to build a team then. I don’t see anyone on the knights roster that jumps out and scream “I am only built for the playoffs”… McDavid is a monster in the regular season and means nothing in the playoffs. Does it have to do with how the game is called? If 50% of the penalties go uncalled then what is the point of rules? I truly believe that the “anything can happen” rhetoric is because the game is called different in the playoffs from the regular season. This shouldn’t be the case. The same standard should apply both in the regular season and the playoffs to maintain consistency.

  4. Let’s face it. The nhl playoffs is a complete crapshoot. It isn’t about skill anymore. It’s all about the grind and who is tougher. Refs don’t call the penalties and oilers lose as simple as that. I am a hockey fans for over 20 years and I don’t want to hear all that Stanley cup is the hardest trophy to win bullshit. VGK and the Kraken may be playing each other in the western finals. Let that sink it for a moment. Two of the newest expansion teams playing each other. The so called hardest trophy to in in all sports might be won by expansion teams in the last 7/8 years. Which superstar is left now? Eichel? Robertson? … I mean let’s not pretend the playoffs is about the art of hockey. It’s about which team can grind the most and the fastest. Skilled players don’t mean jack in the playoffs and this is why I lose interests after the first round. You almost know what is gonna happen. Big fast grinding team wins every freaking year. You don’t need your superstars. Just be big and fast and hard working. That’s all.

That plus, presuming Boeser's really getting over his dad's passing and going to come in a new man, he could be even better yet.

My oh my….. people on here who think Boeser is actually better than horvat… lmao. Nothing can be funnier. Boeser had no taker for free. Horvat was the top number one target in the trade market this entire year. Yeah, Boeser is better… go figure

While you are talking about others not getting over Horvat, it also looks like other people's opinions of Canuck fans also live rent free in your head.

Horvat situation is comical. The guy was a traditional 50-60 PT guy.

He (similar to Brock) came to the team when we were low on talent and was desperate to hand the torch over from the Sedins. As a result, he became a Captain and a leader at a  young age.

He signed for fair market value 5.5m cap hit when factoring his points production. When factoring is "on pace /pts per game" he is more like a 62 PT player so one could say he deserves a slight raise if he was to stay healthy. Factoring in the other intangibles like faceoffs, captaincy, decent (not great) 2 way play, 7m should be the max that the guy makes.

Just because we were idiots with Brock doesn't mean we have to be an idiot with Horvat.

We got a great haul for trading him and its been amusing to see him regress back to the mean and end his best season ever with 70 pts.

For us, we see a guy we called captain over value his self worth, left the team that drafted him, signed to a really undeserving deal while he had Lou's balls in a vice grip and is now playing like a 55 PT player which is who he is.

For him to take a shot at Vancouver in an interview didn't sit well with me. He's never had a contentious thing to say or do while he was here. If anything, we were angry that he didn't grab the bull by the horns or stick up for his teammates etc.

To take a pot shot at this organization while not even being able to back up his new signed salary is pretty funny.

When he left, I wished him the best. Signing a big contract comes with big expectations. If he can't pick up his play, the next 8 years are going to be rough. Luckily, he'll have a lot of money in the bank to help him feel better.

What did he say that was so bad? Nothing. He was asked about the playoff push. There has not been one playoff push since Covid. So……… of course it’s better than Vancouver. Why do fans read so much into a statement like that? Weird. Just weird

on a side note, horvat is 5 times the player Brock is. Don’t group them together.

  7. The amount of kids on this board still being hurt by what horvat said is so funny. We are just exactly the same as Toronto fans. No wonder we are so hated in Canada. We are not the center of the universe guys. There are many cities above us in the nhl that guys would choose to play for. Maybe horvat hated his time here. Who gives a crap what he said in that specific occasion. Move on

    go Bo go!!!

Boeser can absolutely drive his line. He’s a very good playmaker. He’s captain material. Natural leader. Great character. Been through a lot. Well spoken. And he’s one of the top wall guys in the league. Wins a lot of puck battles.

Omg … are you serious bro lol

  9. I don’t understand the loyalty to Brock on this message board. What is it really about him that is different from the Myers, OEL, Ericsson etc. other than the fact that he is a good person?

I face palm my face so hard every time I heard people on here saying he should stay because he is nice, he is honest, he is a good person…..

  10. Well… he just isn’t as good as we thought he would be. Maybe he is trying and this is all

he can do. Him at 6 million bucks is just insane. He is a Pearson type player. Second line winger, pp2, 20 - 25 goal potential. That’s what he is. Let’s not pretend for a moment here that we have a 40 goal sniper who had a down year. This is not what he is even though the price tag says otherwise.
