  1. my happy day will be when canucks trade miller, boeser, pearson, myers and poolman and re-sign horvat. until then, ho hum.

I'd settle for a Miller and OEL buy-out. Or a Miller trade to Colorado with $3M retained for Kurtis McDermid.  Just. to. get. rid. of. him.

  2. how does boeser to chicago for connor murphy, a 3rd this year and our own 2nd in 2024?

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

Why?  So the Canucks can add to the Coyotes retreads?  Isn't OEL and Conor Garland enough of a failed Coyotes reunion?  You want to add another?

I'm going to do my best to kick your miserable ass. Now my Brother has cancer.

@Brad Marchand...probably not much, unless you're Halford and Brough who need to create stories out of things like a deleted Instagram account to generate content for their morning show.

  5. Any relatively expensive burgers in the lower mainland that are actually worth the price?

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

My back yard...ground tenderloin, mix in some eggs, add my recipe (worschester, bulls eye, Montreal Steak spice, finely chopped onions, Frank's red hot, a couple of finely minced garlic cloves)...mix it all and make 8 oz. patties (I'm OCD, so I weigh out my burger patties)...smashed/grilled on a flat pan that's been sitting on my BBQ for 30 minutes at highest heat...topped with monterey jack cheese and butter panned portobello zoomers (finely cut), served on Portugese bun.  My wife likes hers with a medium fried egg, slice of beefsteak tomato, lettuce and sliced avocados.  Me, I like it simple because I don't like anything falling out of my burger.  I'll be glad to make a burger for you and your date.  You and your date can bring your trunks for a swim and hot tub...no commando allowed at our place.  We have a nine month old who watches everything like an eagle.

  6. Wishing the best of luck to my good friend Peter.

They are operating next month to remove the tumor on his kidney. Along with his kidney.

I guess they figure that's the source of his cancer. He's scared, but a total fighter.

Phuck cancer...your friend Peter's got this. Best wishes to him and to you @Ghostsof1915.

Additionally to @Drive-By Body Pierce, get a copy of CarFax (will show car's history - accidents, servicing if reported to CarFax by done by dealer or reporting shop - costs $25, I think), and service records. If you have had accidents, it'll show in the CarFax report, but the fact you're showing it means you've got nothing to hide.  And know that you're in the driver seat (no pun intended) when it comes to haggling. There's a huge shortage of pre-owned cars out there, so don't budge on your price.  Check out AutoTrader/Car Guru/Canadian Black Book to price your car competitively (keep it on the high end knowing there's a shortage).

  8. This day is always really hard for me.

Rypien was the first hockey player I ever met, got an autograph from, and took a picture with. I associated my early Canuck years with his abrasive, steamrolling attitude on the ice, and now he's been a massive figure for me as I deal with my own mental health issues. I still make a habit of watching Bieksa's interview about him every once in a while.

He (and Motte to a lesser extent) have really been paving the way for mental health advocacy in sport, but I hate what sacrifices had to be made for it to happen.

Fly high Ryp. If nothing else, thank you for making this little kid very happy <3

      bigbadcanucks

@AngryElf and @Drive-By Body Pierce...sounds like you have/had a lot to deal with...hope you find the beautiful things in your lives that are around you.  It's there.  It really is.

This day 12 years ago plus one day, my wife and I were hanging out with Willie Mitchell and his wife Megan at David Lam Park not because I could claim to be friends with Willie (he's a stellar dude, BTW), but because our dogs were pals. Willie, even though he was a King at the time, got a call and had to excuse himself. He left in a rush to get somewhere, not saying where it was he had to go.  Next day (12 years ago today) we all found out about Rick Rypien. The kid with a heart of a lion and fists and chin made of diamonds.  Hands down, one of my favorite top ten Canucks of all time.

Willie was still a Canuck at heart. I knew there was something wrong when I saw the look on his face. Ryp's passing still breaks my heart.

I still have to get experience to become a CPA, but the worst of it is over.

Bieksa with the best dig at John Scott..."what do you do when a guy who can't skate challenges you to fight? You go around him and score."

John Scott needs to do himself a solid and get out of hockey and put his engineering degree to good use.

@buddhahoodlum-sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what losing your furry baby feels like. My wife and I have a toy and mini poodle who are 11 and 12, respectively. I love them as much as I love my wife and son...breaks my heart thinking about your loss.

Same to you, @ba;;isticsports and @Bell and @Mackcanuck.

Three more years for a career 0.67 PPG player at $8M.  One of the stupidest things the Canucks could do.

  16. Crazy, if TB wins the Cup this season, Steph and Pat Maroon will have the same number of championships but it'll take Pat even fewer years to win so many #GOAT

  17. How many shrimps do you have to eat before you make your skin turn pink

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

I don't count shrimp by individual counts.  I count them by the number of the shrimp cocktail platters from Costco, or the number of seafood towers at Blue Water Cafe.  I would say, at least three full Costco trays...and at least four of those seafood towers at Blue Water Cafe.  More if you're sharing.  I'll see you guys at the Chelation Clinic getting all the heavy metals removed from my system.

  18. Car Detailers: what’s your goto sealant durability wise other than a ceramic coating? My car parks under an oak tree and the sap/pollen/watermark residue gets pretty nasty.  AND I have a black car so 2x the fun.  I could do a ceramic coating but paint correction would take forever.  Maybe I should just do that.  Or, if you can recommend a spray sealant that works Im all ears.  Dont mind re-applying once a week.  FYI Meguiars M21 synth sealant doesnt last long/hold up.

      bigbadcanucks

Hard to believe he'd be 35 is he were still alive.  Time flies.  He had all the tools to be a very good, if not an excellent defenceman.  Would probably held a bunch of Canucks records if he played the past 15 season in the blue and green.  Hockey is secondary...sad he left so young.

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

LMFAO - "this forum hated Tanev".  Exaggerate much?  He may have been under appreciated, but there was no universal hate for Tanev.  Quite the opposite...every time I wrote something remotely uncomplimentary about Tanev, I heard it from Tanev's army.  I miss Tanev.  I wish he was a Canuck still.

  23. the non-stop bombardment of gambling ads is getting unbearable

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

Sportsnet and governments complicit in creating a whole new generation of gambling addicts. Billions funneled into government approved sport-gambling (that's been neatly marketed as "sports-betting").  Gonna/has already created huge investment opportunity preying on couch potatoes who think they have skin in the game because they have money riding on the outcome.

  24. Fun fact: Markstrom has allowed 15 goals in less than three games. Not only that, but he looks to be badly in need of an Ian Clark, since he is spending way too much time on his knees, too deep in the crease.

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

Markstrom, Vezina candidate...looking like the Markstrom circa Florida Panthers and getting outplayed by Mike Frickin' Smith. Imagine the shame Marky must be feeling right about now.

  25. I feel so dirty calling cheering for Calgary but God I hate the Coilers - even more with Keith on the team

    1. bigbadcanucks

      bigbadcanucks

I hate both teams.  I hate Calgary just a tiny bit less because of Tanev and Markstrom (though gotta say, the Markstrom I'm seeing in the last two games looks like the Markstrom that used to wear no. 35 for the Canucks, and not the guy who wore no. 25).

There's so many players I utterly hate on both teams that I'm hoping attrition sets in on both sides.
