According to Botch people around the league think we'll be giving Lucic the same contract as Yandle or more.
Fricks sakes. I'd rather have $8m/4y than $6m/7y

@thejazz97I mean it's not so much of a problem as it hasn't really hindered his career all that much. It's given him a hunchback, which everyone likes to talk about, but it hasn't made him less effective. But fair point, He's really the only NHLer with that condition, so we truly don't know how it will effect him. I'll concede that.
@Wild Sean Monahan Yeah, they're small and fast, but they're also not big and strong. Athletic doesn't necisarily mean how fast you are. Shaquille O'Neal was a very athletic basketball player, but he wasn't all that fast. And Lucic is not a slow skater. He's an average skater, I'll give you that, but again, I don't think he will see a major drop off in his speed until he's at least 33. Players don't usually hit the age of 30 and all of a sudden lose their skating ability. Once he hits 33 or so, it will start to decline, if he isn't able to keep it up with modern medicine and practices.
Look, all signings have risk. You can't fleece everyone on every deal and come out with exactly what you want. If you want to get a player to play for you, you have to be willing to take some risk back. Otherwise the player gets fleeced and moves on. If it's a good gamble, take it, if it starts to go south 4 or 5 years from now, deal with it then.

Again, I don't doubt that he'll be productive at least for a few years. My worry is that he'll get slower and maybe incur some injury problems. I just feel anybody who plays the way he does is bound to have those issues st some point.
I fully understand that just about every free agent contract tends to be a little on the expensive side and often end up being boat anchors by the end. That's the nature of free agency, you overpay. Where I find issue with it for the Canucks is that he'll be on the books when it's time to pay our kids.
