  1. C or Right D are definite needs at all levels. Embarrassingly thin at both at all levels. Hope we come away with one or at least a PF if they feel the need to draft another winger.
  2. That is pretty much what have been saying. Most realistic thing with our D is waiting out the situation. keep Myers’ cap room for Pettey and Hronek. Don’t sign any big deals this off-season, don’t trade pics for anymore players looking at big contracts. I do think this team is open to big changes but just not sure they can make them without giving up already thin futures.
  3. How are we a team to help someone out of cap trouble? We have the highest cap committed for next year of anyone in the league.
  4. I know we gave up a very high pick to get Garland but if we could get a second for him he would be gone. There may be a market but that market would probably be a mostly cap neutral market. Cap in for cap out. Beau I am not sure he has that much of a market but may get a 3rd because only one year left. A Winnipeg or Ottawa sometimes gets desperate for players so sometimes you can find a home for guys like this with term.
  5. For me the frustration comes from seeing that we have some really good pieces but clearly need another core piece or 2 to really be a cup competitive team as opposed to a w.c. contender dependent on “anything can happen.” I didn’t cheer for losses I cheered for management to push us in a direction towards cup contention they decided on expediency over building. That is why so many are so frustrated. I always expect the team to put in best effort and try to win every game. Rebuilding is something done at the management level, not on ice. I think our management chose the wrong path, the same Benning chose but are doing it somewhat better than Benning. So far that is how I see management which says to me it is ownership saying most important thing is playoff contention ASAP even if for only 4 games. Playoff hunts sell tickets too. People need to stop legislating fandom.
  6. Winning enough to get you nowhere. Yeah, sweet.
  7. That is not the model we are following. We believe in UFAs over draft pics. Middling pieces over core. Wingers ahead of centres and D. Small and slow over big and fast. It may be a crazy way to build a team but it is our way.
  8. Chicago is a great city if you have money. He already has a family tie with the Blackhawks and most importantly these are not the Nordiques. He isn’t holding out. He will be smiling and saying all the right things wearing a Blackhawk’s jersey.
  9. Pretty sad seeing it laid out like that. You are missing the recent college signings, Sasson who was a top centre for Abby since he got there and McWard.
  10. Well he is Swedish but he isn’t a small winger so only 1/3 on the PA draft scale.
  11. We also have a 0.1% chance of 3rd. So 6.1% chance of franchise altering centre (though we would probably go winger because….Canucks).
  12. Just because we are Vancouver I will say we win……2nd OA. I am good with that anyway. As much as Bedard is a guy you build a franchise around, we are Hell bent on the wild card this year and Fantilli is the more natural fit for the team we have. Fantilli move JR back to wing and we run a 1-2 of EP-Fantilli. Feel like Bedard would either go to wing or push EP back to wing and have a 1-2of Bedard-JTM. Given everything they bring would much rather push JTM to wing providing support for faceoffs
  13. I think from a physical development perspective should probably stay in Europe this year. AHL is tough league. Klim is much bigger guy and struggled initially with the AHL. Keep him in Europe, let him develop physically and see if ready to come to AHL next year. Makes contract easier too
  14. I think they have picked their direction and it is to make a run at a wild card spot as fast as possible at the expense of whatever futures it takes. Rebuilding the D requires losing a couple players and that is unlikely to happen this off-season. More likely to burn draft assets to move some money off the wing and free up cap for a UFA 3rd line centre than trade Miller.
  15. We need that throughout the organization.
  16. At least Carlo and Frederick are youngish. No use in saying things like we need to buildup the system and have youth instead of giving away pics and prospects, that isn’t how JR manages. So go pics, go prospects time for a wild stab at the WC spot for a year or 2 before trading away all our pics catches up with us again, but luckily we will have more pics to trade away by then.
  17. No way NYR does that on value alone. We are way short on the cost of that deal. Doesn’t seem like right thing for NYR anyway.
  18. Took 2 years for the Kraken to match the greatest success of the Leafs in the modern era.
  19. Considering the Mono and his very young age I think it is very encouraging to see him turn it on in the playoffs. Still not thrilled with the pick but is looking better and better.
  20. I find it hilarious to say but this is the best Leaf team of the cap era and most successful. Congrats to the Leafs to finally making it to their Stanley Cup, the second round of the playoffs.
  21. Just don’t think we are at a point that we should be trading pics and prospects for 30 year olds. I think we should probably look at trading Boner to give him a chance. I think McD is big and had a fairly physical game. That is something we need desperately.
