Been to Billings, Butte, and Missoula.

Billings is the largest city in the state. A fairly low key city. Nice but kind of boring.

Butte is built into....well a butte, which is really cool to see. It's more of an older town, with a lot of rural influence to it. As well, Butte is one of three cities in the United States where you are allowed to drink alcohol in the open, the other two being Las Vegas and Miami. It's a pretty cool place.

Missoula is a great little city. Very progressive and active. I loved it there. Most people are very friendly, which really goes for all of Montana. I would say if you have to choose just one, I would go with Missoula.

Missoula sounds great! As well as the flight times.  Now I need to decide if I want to go in July or August.
