You know @Nuxfanabroad, I was actually thinking that, but drawing cities out of a hat or something. I should do that. I have cities in mind I am interested, Like New York, Santa Barbara, Montana, Salt Lake City, Alaska, Hawaii, Los Angeles, and random places like Port Townsend.

I'm thinking about going up to Vancouver for the day, but have not decided which day. How's Downtown Vancouver these days? Should I go or stay away? I want to try out my Enhanced ID.

Looks like you had a lovely time, Bri! Glad you hit up your favourite dessert place...I miss those cakes! I ended up staying at my daughter's until 10....had dinner there. We got a lot done (getting ready for the fundraiser Sunday). I'm staying at her place next week (she's go ing to NY) so she was giving me the rundown on how to use all her appliances, etc.

@Crimson-JH, that is great! Let's meet and go together!

What's your favorite treat? I love the peppermint bark squares! Double love! Love love love! They come out once a year, and am eating them right now. I have a Target gift card. I know what I will be spending my gift card on!

This spider is big. You just can’t see it in the picture. I wonder how it got in. It’s been there all day. I’m a little freaked out right now because it’s big and there. I wonder how get rid of it without it falling to the ground and crawling around unknown. I’ve seen smaller spiders and called them all Wally. Wally has gotten big!

Fun places in Vancouver? I'm going to Vancouver next week, and I may opt out of doing the Grouse Grind. Any recommendations how to spend the day?

The best place to visit in Vancouver is Stanley Park SeaWall.
Walk it if you have the time. Bike it if you have limited time.
Rollerblade it for a change up.
Take a break at third beach and chill.
You can get lunch mid walk if you want at English bay or under the burrard bridge or even in Yaletown.....
Great way to spend a day in Vancouver.

@NewbieCanuckFan Organic has no pesticides and it tastes better. The organic blue chips is made from organic ingredients. Non organic fruits and vegetables taste bland and are full of pesticides, and are dirty. I may be an occasionally bad eater, but I buy my fruits and vegetables organic, and if I can get other things organic such as chips at the same price as the non-organic or close, I will buy it organic.

@brilac drop crumpled up slips of paper with your phone number written in them... "and that kids is how I met your father" (to quote Anchorman, it works 60% of the time, every time)
@Heretic were you Psy getting confetti blown in your face? Or the guy laying down in the elevator? There's lots of roles to choose from
-
@brilac Please note I haven't researched the following link (just curious about the difference between the two) - I'm too old anyway at this point (damage I have done to my body is already done heh ):

I love cheese! Cheese sticks, Pringles with cheese, cheese and crackers, Cheetos, cheese on a pizza, nachos. I really love cheese! Is cheese bad if you snack on it throughout the day?

Let George sleep up on your bed beside you and you won’t care a lick about the Habs being losers. I did that with my current dog. Canucks were crap in 2013, so I got my 70 pound Aussie to sleep up on the bed with me to cuddle after losing. Now, even though we are winning, he thinks my bed is his. I don’t mind the floor anyway. At least that’s still mine!

I think it’s awesome you’re sharing this story with us @brilac
Thank you. Love seeing animals treated with love.

I used to go to Victoria all the time from 2005-2007. But I would go there for reasons that others would not go there for, like I'm going to Value Village, or I'm going to the Vista 18 to drink wine and enjoy the view, or I'm going out to James Bay and walk around. I lived on the Olympic Peninsula, so it was a ferry ride to get there.

I have no idea what 3 year olds want for Christmas. Any suggestions? Something under $20.

We loved the billy goats too! And the Beatrix Potter books. Another favourite was a beautifully illustrated book called "My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch (Graeme Base). Took my daughter to meet him at a book reading/signing and we've always loved that one. Since Australia's become one of her favourite places (her bf lives there), it's come to hold special meaning.

Great, I bought my 3 year old niece a Peppa Pig foam puzzle. I asked my mother if she liked the Little Mermaid, and she told me my niece likes Peppa Pig and spelled it for me so I could look it up and order it.
I have no idea what Peppa Pig is, but I remember seeing the Little Mermaid in 1989 in the movie theater.

Afternoon champagne and homemade nachos!

My birthday is in April. Where should I go? I was either thinking Victoria for lunch, across the street for divine eating, flying to Montreal or Iceland, or taking the bus or train down to Portland for the day.

Well Brilly, considering you've already chosen your bday destination, this may fall on deaf ears -
Vista 18 is totally overrated, true, the view is exceptional, but there are many other choices for even more beautiful and stunning views of Victoria, if you're willing to be outside.
The food is okay at Vista, but if you actually want fine dining and are okay to drive / cab / limo yourself to the best views - eat at Brasserie Le'cole or Cafe Brio for a rue culinary experience.
Enjoy your Bday!

Maybe the Vista 18 will be on one of those Summer days. Can you believe this?! - Those airline hotel prices change all the time through out the time I was trying to pick my hotel and airline and deciding on First Class or Coach and between websites. I had enough, and picked a hotel I stayed at before and an airline I don't really desire, but they have a late night flight that gets me to Montreal in the morning. The last time I flew this airline to Chicago and up to Montreal, their computer system screwed up and put me on the flight to Charlotte, and the airline rep was so sure I was supposed to be on the flight to Charlotte, and it took them 45 minutes to fix it.
@Alflives the last time I went to Montreal during the Playoffs, I came home with the side of my head shaved with a CH logo. Maybe this time I will come back with a tattoo :)!

Drinkin' the Red Moscato, and putting together an Ikea desk. Oh yeah oh yeah!

@-DLC-! Our show is on tonight! A must see!

Great resume tips? I'm redoing my resume to make it ATS compatible and great. How far should a resume go back, is it okay to put a line under my name and contact information (ATS concern), omitting irrelevant information, etc.? I was laid off a few weeks ago and have been looking for work since.

I find that the newer trend is less is more. Make it eye catching and pop. Potential employers can follow-up and ask for more but capturing their interest and standing out is key.
Use the space to really highlight your strengths and experience. How it's laid out on the page/presented is quite important...visually pleasing to the eye and not too "busy". You want someone to read through it quickly and with ease, not have to struggle to find what they're looking for.
-
@-DLC- Yes, you are absolutely right on the money about this. Less IS more.
@brilac As such, a resume should be no longer than 1 page, regardless of your accomplishments, in my honest opinion. Also, you MUST talk about your soft skills that you bring to the table (i.e demonstrated supervisor abilities by leading small team to finish a project under a certain period of time). Make at least three points there. What do you bring to the company? Guaranteed you'll have something to say.
Mention personality. Are you team oriented? This is a big one. Nobody wants to hire a problem colleague. Ideally, you're capable of working alone or with others, with or without supervision.
I'll stress again. Do not make your resume more than 1 page. You'll have to talk about your previous work experiences on that same page, but limit that to just one or two roles. They'll have time to ask you for more details during an interview.

How was your day? What did you do today? I took a nice walk and went to Trader Joe's and looked at food and bought food. Food is enticing.

@NewbieCanuckFan: where did you pull out that old Bay City Rollers "Saturday Night" video? Takes me back to my elementary days. Prolly haven't heard that song in over 4 decades...maybe 5.
My day today...same as most days (I'm retired so everyday is a holiday). Woke up at 5:30AM...took my furry boys out for a walk...fed them b-fast...made b-fast for my wife who is expecting our first child (I'm skipping fatherhood and going straight into grandfatherhood, in case you're wondering)...had b-fast with my wife...did a little research on a company that I'm thinking of investing in...went for a walk at Crescent Park in South Surrey with my wife...did a little housecleaning, yardwork, tidying up our sunroom/deck so my wife can enjoy the fresh air and beautiful summer breeze we had today...made lunch...ate lunch...took my furry boys out for their mid day walk...doted on my wife for awhile...ran to the grocery store (my poor wife has crazy/weird food cravings)...did a little more research...ordered rolls from our fave White Rock Sushi joint (Nami Sushi, which was Two Guys Sushi until last week)...had dinner with my wife...fed my furry boys dinner...watched a little Global News (got super mad about this woman named Harsha Walia, Exec Director of BC Civil Liberties Group that tweeted "Burn it all down" (referring to churches) and got super worried because Peace Arch Hospital, our hospital, is diverting baby deliveries to other hospitals because they don't have enough Pediatricians on staff...went for our evening walk in our 'hood with wife and furry babies...showered...ate a bowl of cherries...and am now writing my account of the day before we watch a few videos on baby strollers, car seats and baby carriers and go to bed by 9:30PM or so. Tomorrow will be the same, except at 6:25AM, I will go to my home office to see how the markets stack up for the opening bell (except tomorrow will be only on Canadian markets as US markets are closed in observance of Independence Day) and I spend a couple of hours checking in on the markets.

@bigbadcanucks Just randomly searched for it. Yeah, it brought memories back to me as well. I think the first time I saw this band was on an old kids show (yeah, I was little kid too at the time lol):
This show:
Yes, that *IS* the Bay City Rollers lol!

The TV is on it’s way out. The logo hardly shows when turning it on and then goes blank. You know what that means... A new and bigger TV to watch Hockey on! I must shop after Hot Yoga.

@MJDDawgi just took a quick look at 70" oled TV's.....I think at $5k I can probably manage with what I've got. At the time I got my plasma it definitely destroyed led TV's in terms of black/motion blur, but it looks like the technology is getting better.
