  1. Self care day ideas?

I'm thinking ice skating, enjoying the beach or the forest, baking, or taking a day trip to Spokane or Juneau.

    Any ideas?

      Too much?

Ooh, Mount Baker is far away from Seattle.  I mean I can see it when walking, but far away.  I don't drive.

  2. Score!  Free stuff!  I’m a little drunk and excited over free stuff right now, so don’t mind me!

plate looks pretty sweet, whats the other stuff?

    3. brilac

      brilac

@TNucks1, the other stuff was a green wine glass (this one is heavy; wine glasses are usually flimsy and I can be notorious for breaking them when I leave them out on the counter and something bangs into it, oh - there goes the wine glass!), a modal like fabric bathrobe that says Nordstrom on the tag.  It's a medium, but it will still fit me.  I'm smaller than a medium.  I don't know why I took it, I don't really need a bathrobe and I was a little intoxicated finding this  stuff.  Also, I got some plates and a bowl.  All neat, free stuff!

I've gotten other free stuff in the past.  Most recently, two bread baking dishes, art stuff and clothes. Someone put a couple of Madewell shirts out in their free box.  It was a score, and XS too! I'm usually a XS or S in shirts depending on the brand.

I am totally a guy to get in sync with Nature..............

Climb a hill/Mountain etc, where all you can hear is silence............no car etc

And just sit there for an hour, do a little meditation..............deep breathing!

It does wonders for your soul!

Sitting near an ocean with crashing waves, is much the same!

  3. I think I am going to bake banana bread or brownies!

Do glass oven safe baking pans require cooking spray/grease?

  4. This spider is big. You just can’t see it in the picture.  I wonder how it got in. It’s been there all day.  I’m a little freaked out right now because it’s big and there.  I wonder how get rid of it without it falling to the ground and crawling around unknown. I’ve seen smaller spiders and called them all Wally.  Wally has gotten big!

  6. It's quite the thing when you're just about out of cookie butter while looking at the jar very carefully thinking how much more you can get out of it. Then you open the jar of peanut butter and think to yourself - well this will do... Why have peanut butter when you can have cookie butter! But you're all out! Cookie butter is so much better than peanut butter...!

      brilac

Great, thanks all!  I have been thinking about taking a day trip up to Vancouver. I was not sure about the border crossing since we are still in a pandemic and of what to expect like travelling by myself for a day trip, if that would be a red flag because we are still in a pandemic, and taking the bus. The train service from Seattle is not up and running and Kenmore Air is not running service up to Vancouver and back.

You know what's funny... I used go to Montreal and would take an overnight flight, usually over to Chicago and up to Montreal. At customs, I always wanted to tell the agent why I was there, but they never asked me anything.  They would just look at my declaration form and say merci followed by thank you, and that was it.  When I interacted with an agent at a land border or YVR on my way to Vancouver, sometimes it was like a Q&A session, and I am not much for more than 3 questions. I would think that the agents in Montreal would ask me questions, and the agents at the land border and YVR would not ask me more than 3 questions.

@4petesake, did you have to show anything else besides your passport and vaccination card or use an app to go to the US?

So as a recap for myself to go to Vancouver and back to Seattle:

Canada:  ArriveCan app + passport or Enhanced ID

      USA:  passport + vaccination card

      Is that right?

    4. 4petesake

      4petesake

For a Canadian going across I didn’t have to show anything other than passport. Returning to Canada if you have filled out your ArriveCan online you also don’t have to show anything as it is already linked.

Yes I am confident you have it right in your recap

There were some break through clouds today so I took the opportunity to get out and walk the nature trails.  It was humid so it was also a great opportunity to flush those toxins out. But I'm having chips right now, so I don't think flushing the toxins out made a difference.

I was at Shoppers Drug Mart on a Seniors day. And they gave me the seniors discount.

the guy at taco bell said that to you?

    3. brilac

      brilac

No, it was after Taco Bell.  I was walking to the bus stop.  I had finished my drinking while at Climate Pledge Arena. He didn’t come off as sketchy, told me his name. Just nosy and serious. Something about that interaction, like - why are you questioning me?

On another note - it’s fun drinking at the Kraken games.  I don’t even know what the score was, but Vegas won.  There’s one coming up this Sunday.  I’m not really a fan of the Kraken, but I have half season tickets.  I probably will not renew.  I realized how much I really like the Habs and Canucks and I enjoy drinking at home. And it’s so much more fun to go to Canucks games as well going over to Montreal during the Playoffs when the Habs are playing.

The reason I got half season tickets was to try something new.  I was so excited when Seattle got a hockey team, and when the pandemic hit and we were all at home for months and months, over a year for me, the excitement faded, and I was like - I only like two teams and that’s it.  But I was also like - sure, I will give this a try.  It will be an opportunity to get out and see if I like this team.

@Ghostsof1915, yeah odd.  When did that happen?  I know they are offered in WA state for crossing the border. I was at the DMV website last month when I noticed my enhanced ID was expiring.  I haven't been out much for the last few years except for the grocery store to buy food and champagne which is why I didn't notice the date of expiration on my ID until last month.

    3. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Three years ago I think there was bulletin that they won't be renewing them. I think the issue was so few people got them, and got passports instead.

      brilac

Good to know @Ghostsof1915.  I used to go up to Vancouver a lot for Canucks games and would have my enhanced ID as a backup in case something happened to my passport. So if I flew up there and something happened to my passport, I would have my enhanced ID to get back by bus or train.

UPDATE:  Mom asked me if I opened the package.  I responded - yes, and due to all the tape, it took me 10 minutes to open the top and 10 minutes to open the bottom to break it down and recycle it.  Mom didn't seem to care and gave me an example of another package she mailed and that person too noted how difficult it was to get the package open...  She asked about the Canucks sweater and jacket.  I told her that I wore the jacket out walking today with my leggings.
