@NewbieCanuckFan: where did you pull out that old Bay City Rollers "Saturday Night" video?  Takes me back to my elementary days. Prolly haven't heard that song in over 4 decades...maybe 5.

My day today...same as most days (I'm retired so everyday is a holiday).  Woke up at 5:30AM...took my furry boys out for a walk...fed them b-fast...made b-fast for my wife who is expecting our first child (I'm skipping fatherhood and going straight into grandfatherhood, in case you're wondering)...had b-fast with my wife...did a little research on a company that I'm thinking of investing in...went for a walk at Crescent Park in South Surrey with my wife...did a little housecleaning, yardwork, tidying up our sunroom/deck so my wife can enjoy the fresh air and beautiful summer breeze we had today...made lunch...ate lunch...took my furry boys out for their mid day walk...doted on my wife for awhile...ran to the grocery store (my poor wife has crazy/weird food cravings)...did a little more research...ordered rolls from our fave White Rock Sushi joint (Nami Sushi, which was Two Guys Sushi until last week)...had dinner with my wife...fed my furry boys dinner...watched a little Global News (got super mad about this woman named Harsha Walia, Exec Director of BC Civil Liberties Group that tweeted "Burn it all down" (referring to churches) and got super worried because Peace Arch Hospital, our hospital, is diverting baby deliveries to other hospitals because they don't have enough Pediatricians on staff...went for our evening walk in our 'hood with wife and furry babies...showered...ate a bowl of cherries...and am now writing my account of the day before we watch a few videos on baby strollers, car seats and baby carriers and go to bed by 9:30PM or so.  Tomorrow will be the same, except at 6:25AM, I will go to my home office to see how the markets stack up for the opening bell (except tomorrow will be only on Canadian markets as US markets are closed in observance of Independence Day) and I spend a couple of hours checking in on the markets.

@bigbadcanucks  Just randomly searched for it.  Yeah, it brought memories back to me as well.  I think the first time I saw this band was on an old kids show (yeah, I was little kid too at the time lol):

Fall is a more natural time to start, as it's when the programs expect students to start, especially the ones fresh out of high school.

I don't think it really matters right now. In-person is much more epic during the fall because of how busy it is.

I'm so enticed with the tiramisu recipes.  I am going to make one with wine and another with coffee.  I had this boyfriend years ago who was making tiramisu for one of his college classes, and he made tiramisu with wine and I helped.  He received many compliments on the tiramisu.  I was a pro at dumping wine into the tiramisu and drinking at the same time.

Tiramisu should be deemed illegal, or the name of the most BEAUtiful girl in the world.

I was seriously considering injecting this substance into my veins. It's exquisite.

    4. buddhahoodlum

      buddhahoodlum

You have to make it yourself if you want good tiramisu. No one puts booze into it. It demands Frangelico's at the very least. I also add Kahlua Instead of brandy.

  6. Why would someone put a rock in between my door handle and door and knock? It’s creepy. I thought it was a package delivery, so I didn’t open the door until later. It’s an inside door, so the person must live here to get into the building.

do you have a landlord/neighbourhood watch or a strata council? contact them and make them understand that this is a serious matter, and they should contact your neighbor's to investigate!

Be careful when answering your door, if  you don't feel safe just talk through the door. consider installing a peephole and a chain door lock, if  you don't already have them. (don't cheap out on the lock) (if you rent you may be able to get reimbursed)

Do You Know Your neighbors well Bri? anyone been talking about similar situations?

if you do. I would suggest knocking on their doors/calling them, if not leaving a letter describing what you experienced and if anyone else is having strange occurrences?

Be safe, not sorry. spend some time putting in some work  to protect yoursand your neighbours well  being.

      Take care,

    3. brilac

      brilac

      Hi @Petey_BOI

I don't know my neighbors well.  I'm a private person.  I may contact my landlord.  I don't open my door. With the pandemic, if someone is at the door, I speak to them through the door and look in the peep hole to see who's there.  When this occurred, I looked through the peep hole after they knocked and did not see anyone there, so I thought it was a package delivery and opened the door later to find a rock.

  7. I got vaccinated! I feel so excited right now! It’s like I came out of hibernation and re-entered society. I have not been this excited when I brought George home in February 2020. I even went grocery shopping after receiving my vaccine. The pharmacy was inside of a grocery store. See! The neat food I purchased! I had to take a picture! I was so excited to be at the grocery store and oooing and aweing. I’ve been at home for 14 months except for some essential walks.17B9BAE5-6A90-443A-A332-0DA65AD5F609.thumb.jpeg.4904579cf1b9c6d6d604f205f7c3c9d0.jpeg

I ordered it in July and expected it the next day, but it never came, so I cancelled the order, but no, they kept their word, and months later, the ground cinnamon has arrived! And in an Amazon Prime package too.

Oh my God, those cakes are to die for! I went to Vancouver with some friends, just for a weekend ya know, have some laughs and some amazing food, etc etc. Well we get told about this cake shop by a cabbie after stumbling out of some pub I can't remember (too many Guinness!), since we've all got a terrific day drunk happening and just needed some sweets. It was superb, hilight of the trip! We got the 9" of course, Lemon layer with Vanilla buttercream icing and I think some kind of cherry pattern? We couldn't get what we wanted, had to get one already made, since we hadn't pre-ordered...who thinks to pre-ordered a cake when your drunk on Guinness in Vancouver? Not me!

Anyways, hope you make it soon cuz it'll change your life!

  16. That's a really catchy and clever commercial Alaska Air has.  I won't be flying soon, but they are the only airline I've seen that has a commercial on TV dancing and showing their safety precautions.

@Ghostsof1915 I really like wine too.  But I find that I get so much more intoxicated when I drink wine and it makes me sleepy.  I can have 2-3 glasses of wine compared to 5 glasses of champagne.  I did really enjoy going to the wineries.  There are many great wineries on the Olympic Peninsula and Chateau Ste Michelle is in Woodinville, close to Seattle.

I like Rogers Chocolates too, but I have not had Rogers Chocolates in a long time. I really liked these toffee almond Hershey bars and the closest was Symphony bars in the USA.  So when I would go up to Vancouver,  I would buy many. Then there was the habit of snacking on them while walking down the street in Vancouver.  Did you know that you cannot take outside food or water to a Canucks game? That you must drink/eat it before going in?!

We loved the billy goats too!  And the  Beatrix Potter books.  Another favourite was a beautifully illustrated book called "My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch (Graeme Base).  Took my daughter to meet him at a book reading/signing and we've always loved that one.  Since Australia's become one of her favourite places (her bf lives there), it's come to hold special meaning.

Great, I bought my 3 year old niece a Peppa Pig foam puzzle.  I asked my mother if she liked the Little Mermaid, and she told me my niece likes Peppa Pig and spelled it for me so I could look it up and order it.

I have no idea what Peppa Pig is, but I remember seeing the Little Mermaid in 1989 in the movie theater.

It did happen fast! I'm not into seeing emotion and crying, and she got emotional a lot.  It was not fair to the other men of how she handled it from the beginning.  I'm waiting for the season when someone says  - I was just here for the champagne and vacations... is there dessert with this champagne?..
