  1. Agreed for the most part. Great teams need both sugar and salt. The Sedins were sugar, Kesler and Burrows were salt. The reason why the Sedins had no extended playoff success besides 2011 was because of the constant meltdowns of a goalie whose "contract sucked" but that's for another thread.
  2. Very fair and accurate comments. As great of a guy and as a human being Boeser is, but he has regressed terribly. Facts are facts. He's in his mid 20's already and he isn't even half the player we were all excited to have on our team in his rookie season. The Flow has become The Slow. Sounds harsh, I know, but facts are facts. Just NINE goals in 41 games is UNACCEPTABLE. If Boeser were pushing 20 goals right now, I would be fine with that. But NINE?? Uh, uh.
  3. How come BoHo and Petey improved each and every season and not Boeser?? Determination and motivation.
  4. Boeser has regressed. There's no sugarcoating it. Irresponsible?? Ridiculous. Got to call a spade a "spade".
  5. I have never seen a player regress as poorly as Boeser and at Boeser's age. Blaming the back injury from 5 years ago is beating a dead horse. He was still producing modestly in the following 2 seasons. Boeser hasn't done anything to improve his skating nor try to recapture some of that lost velocity in his shot. BoHo worked hard on all aspects of his game since his rookie season. Petey has gained strength and has worked on his overall game while becoming one of the best all-around players in the NHL. Something just isn't right upstairs with Boeser. And it goes far beyond his late dad's declining health and inevitable passing.....that's life unfortunately. Doesn't seemed motivated nor determined. 9 goals in 41 games this season at this stage in his career is absolutely ridiculous.
  6. 1 goal and 2 assists by former Canuck and Jim Benning's second-ever draft pick Jared McCann. That Erik Gudbranson trade sure worked out.
  7. Francesco didn't hire Brian Burke who engineered the trades to draft the Sedins and drafted Ryan Kesler and Kevin Bieksa. He didn't promote Dave Nonis to GM, who drafted Cory Schneider, Alex Edler and Jannik Hansen and traded for Roberto Luongo. Everything starts and ends with the trust fund middle son of the slumlord billionaire.
  8. I will always bleed the blue, green and white and the black, red and yellow of the Canucks but as a longtime passionate Canucks hockey fan, I have never been more embarrassed, ashamed and appalled to be a fan as I am right now. The good news is that the classy Bruce Boudreau is now free of this idiotic and moronic circus(not counting Stan Smyl, the Sedins, Thomas Gradin and Cammi Granato). The day when Francesco Aquilini and his criminal family are no longer the owners, it should be a civic or a provincial holiday.
  9. I do prefer the navy blue and green Johnny Canuck Reverse Retros but keep in mind, the Flyers wear Halloween orange and black. As for Swedish national colours, go with the 80's yellow-gold Skate jerseys and socks and the original/current blue pants and gloves.
  10. Was at the game last night. At first, I didn't like the removal of one of the lines but it actually works with the alternating red & yellow lines..cleaner and has continuity with the Skate boot. The recoloured '70-'72 stripes look awesome. The cheap and weak Agency font must go, just like the corporate Orca. Bring back the classic and nicer-looking Athletic block font. Black V's on those '70-'72 sleeve stripes instead of engraved V lines would look so much better...just like the white sleeve V's on the original Stick in Rink jerseys. Colour on the collar plus pants stripes would look amazing And for the cherry on top of the sundae, a recoloured Johnny Canuck on the shoulders. Overall, great work.
  11. RIP Gino. Heartfelt condolences, prayers and thoughts to Gino's family, friends, former teammates, the entire Vancouver Canucks organization and all of Canucks Nation.
  12. I couldn't understand that reasoning. That same orange was still being used by the Oilers, Islanders and Flyers. The Canucks also screwed up the yellow-gold by changing it to eggnog yellow and then the yellow was toned down a bit the following season.
  13. 110% malarkey. It's because original owner Tom Scallen didn't know the history of the Canucks name and therefore didn't purchase the Johnny Canuck trademark. THAT'S what cursed the franchise from Day 1. The Pacific Coast/Western Hockey League Canucks were winners.....winning 6 Lester Patrick Cup championships in their 25-year existence. That being said, there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with our great Canucks name. Going with the corporately-inspired Orca in '97 only worsened the Canucks Curse. Time to ditch the Orca and embrace our namesake, Johnny Canuck as well as remove Francesco as chairman.
  14. Rutherford and Allvin's first(and hopefully last) big blunder. Forget trading Miller. What other GM would give up a high draft pick, prospect and cap room for him?? Well, Benning is unemployed and extremely unlikely to be a GM ever again, so that's out of the question. So the best and only way is to buy out Miller's new contract unless it can be voided. The returns would mean Horvat wanting to re-sign here and as well as Pettersson when his contract expires plus other players. The overall team performance would also improve on a consistent basis.
  15. "Miller Time" needs to be poured into the toilet and flushed. We are officially seeing why the Canucks are actually struggling this season & why classy captain BoHo turned down the Canucks' good last contract offer. The answer is Miller who has been toxic both on the ice and in the dressing room. It was a horrible decision to re-sign him. I must admit, I and many fans didn't see this kind of toxic behavior coming, let alone his sloppy and lazy defensive play. Points or no points, Miller MUST go. His new 7-8 contract doesn't kick in until next season. However, forget OEL, if a trade can't be worked out, then a buyout should be in order. If I were BoHo, why would I want a teammate for a bully and a defensive liability, even if I got an even sweeter contract offer?? It's been said that Petey can't stand Miller which is why Boudreau won't play them together. When Petey's contract is up for negotiations, why would he want to play on a team that has the likes of JT Miller? I will admit that I enjoyed Miller's no-nonsense and vocal leadership last season. However, there's a fine line between being a "no-nonsense" and very competitive leader and being a toxic bully whom teammates and the head coach have to walk on eggshells around and Miller crossed that line in flying colours. We saw it on the ice in Winnipeg. I can almost bet that Miller has displayed similar bullying and confrontational behavior inside the dressing room on several occasions.
  16. If Miller "is a competitor who wants to win", why the heck does he suck eggs when it comes to playing well without the puck, ie. playing well defensively?? His horrible plus/minus to go with all the multiple blown multi-goal leads shows how lazy and irresponsible he is. Competitive and "cares about his teammates"?? Petey, who has played extremely well defensively while putting up the goals and points and is establishing himself as one of the best all-around players in the NHL, doesn't get along with Miller. Which is why Boudreau refuses to play them together. You watched a lot of hockey over the years, I'm sure, and you know that goalies don't get pulled for an extra skater until the puck is in the other team's end.
  17. AK_19, you are correct. You are in the minority, I'm afraid. The majority of the Canucks fan base and hockey fans in general would take Johnny Canuck in a second over the Orca. I was just at the NHL Official Store in downtown Manhattan. The Johnny Canuck logo and Reverse Retro jersey is extremely popular and is always sold out.
  18. The reason why the Orca has overstayed its welcome for 25 years was because the Canucks didn't own the rights to Johnny Canuck until a few years ago. Also, navy and green look amazing together. Far better contrast.
  19. 110%. Johnny Canuck should be the primary and permanent crest going forward but even with a recoloured Skate or the original '70 Stick in Rink as the primary with Johnny Canuck on the shoulders, I would be just as happy. Navy blue is the perfect balance between royal blue(SiR & Orca) and black( V & Skate). The green stands out beautifully and with the green, the navy looks more colourful. Love tie-up collar. Just retire the Orca and ditch the cheap Agency font. Use block font with an added green outline. Put white-green-white striping back on the pants.
  20. Bure was the Canucks' first-ever NHL superstar. First-ever 50-goalscorer with back-to-back 60 goal seasons plus another 50-goal season and the first 100-point player. Scored arguably the biggest goal in 2OT in Game 7 in Calgary. First-ever postseason award winner in club history when he won the Calder Trophy. Luongo's only Vezina-like season was his first season in Vancouver. When the Canucks got better and more powerful, Luongo was only excellent, not great. Never won the Vezina Trophy nor the Conn Smythe Trophy. Almost cost the Canucks Game 7 vs Chicago when he allowed Jonathan Toews' shorthanded game-tying goal with around 2 minutes remaining in regulation.
  21. '94 was NOT a fluke. The Canucks FOUND their first place form. The '11 Canucks almost blew it against Chicago - again - after being up 3-0. The '94 Canucks would've finished the job in 5 games at the most.
  22. Brodeur was brilliant in the '82 run but terrible in Games 1 and 2 of the final on Long Island. The Canucks should've won both games. Brodeur was "King For 1 Spring".
  23. Canucks Hockey 101 is now in session. '94 run was a FLUKE?? The '94 Canucks were coming off back-to-back Smythe Division FIRST place finishes in '92 and '93. Their '93-'94 season was simply a struggle with complacency and Bure was out for a short time with an injury. They simply found their first place form at the start of the playoffs with a 5-0 shutout win in Calgary with McLean, the Canucks best playoff goalie getting the goose egg.
