  1. I won't be able to get my wallet out fast enough. I can't WAIT to get my hands on this awesome jersey. Love the extra embroidery on Johnny's beard and suspenders. The navy blue and kelly green contrast is amazing....which explains why a recoloured Skate in those colours would work. I even plan on going to the first-ever game these beauties are worn.
  2. Make this navy blue with green and white and perhaps a touch of silver and with Johnny Canuck on the shoulders and I'm buyin'.
  3. Only here on CDC. You're among the majority in Canucks Nation.
  4. Again, ALL of the Americas, North & South America, belonged to First Nations and Aboriginal people. Orcas are found all over the world. The name of the team is "Canucks", not "Orcas". Johnny Canuck was a fearless and hardworking Canadian lumberjack who played hockey in his spare time. That's Canucks hockey. The lumber industry has longstanding roots in BC and it helped build our city of Vancouver. Even Canada's First Nations people were lumberjacks and loggers too. So, whenever you do a road trip to watch the Canucks play in the likes of Madison Square Garden, Long Island, Philadelphia, Boston or even in Columbus and fans over there ask you, "What the puck is a Canuck?? Is it a killer whale or some sort of fish??" What would your answer be?? Would you go on about First Nations this and First Nations that? It wouldn't answer their question about our great Canucks name. Whenever I travel to New York and the Eastern U.S. and talk about hockey, I educate them about Johnny Canuck and our Canucks name. I also tell them about the former Orca Bay ownership from Seattle who actually wanted to change the name of the Canucks to "Orcas". They look at the JC logo I show them, get a much better understanding of the Canucks name and they applaud the logo.
  5. First Nations were all over the Americas, not just in Vancouver and BC. The Canucks' hockey history has nothing to do with First Nations. The Orca was forced upon the Canucks' brand by John McCaw and his Orca Bay lieutenants from Seattle who initially wanted to change the name of the team to "Orcas". Also, many tourists and newcomers to Vancouver plus many of today's kids think a "Canuck" is an orca whale. We Are All Canucks. We Are Not All Orcas.
  6. If the Abbotsford Canucks can have a "Canuck", why can't the NHL Vancouver CANUCKS?? Because Abbotsford is well known for its aviation programs, it would make much better sense for AHL Canucks to use the pilot version of JC and promote the lumberjack version to the NHL Canucks and use it as a secondary logo/third jersey crest with a recoloured Skate as the primary.
  7. The City of Vancouver was built on BC's longstanding lumber industry as well as the fishing industry. The lumberjack version of Johnny Canuck was chosen by the PCHL Canucks for that reason while the pilot version influenced the team name because of its connection to the brave Canadian Armed Forces during WWII.
  8. BEAUTIFUL!! Now, THAT'S a Vancouver Canucks sweater! Navy blue and kelly green look amazing together. Johnny Canuck will finally make his NHL appearance. I just hope it's legitimate. My wallet will be ready for sure. It will be a red-hot seller.
  9. To have a "Canuck" identity, the Orca identity needs to go ASAP. #FreeTheSkate #PromoteJC #WeAreAllCanucks #WeAreNotAllOrcas
  10. I never once felt any animosity towards Mr. Gordon over the Neely trade. This was entirely on Tom Watt's shoulders. Also, Barry Pederson had two 70+ point seasons with the Canucks. It was a trade that also gave back to the Canucks over the next few years: In '90, Pederson w/Tony Tanti were traded to Pittsburgh for Andrew McBain and Dan Quinn. A year later, Quinn, along with Garth Butcher, were traded to St. Louis for Cliff Ronning, Geoff Courtnall, Sergio Momesso and Robert Dirk, which helped turned the Canucks into a winning team. Getting Rich Sutter from Philadelphia for struggling young defenseman J.J. Daigneault was a good move as Sutter took some of the scoring and grinding load off of Smyl's back. Drafting Dan Woodley 7th overall in '86 was 20/20 hindsight. Woodley was ranked 10th overall by The Hockey News Draft Preview and had a successful junior career with the Portland Winter Hawks. Too bad the Canucks didn't help Woodley work on his skating. Anyway, Mr. Gordon had a good long life. May he RIP and heartfelt condolences to his family and his close connections in the hockey world.
  11. The Johnny Canuck C/Orca C does have an obtuse point on the closed end as a opposed to the completely rounded Habs CH. Also, the CH open end has a serif on the top. JC with his hockey stick would also be the eye-catcher in the logo. I would also add white V's to the sleeve stripes.
  12. The Canucks can have a true timeless classic with North Vancouver's Glen Green's Johnny Canuck C concept. It keeps the current C but with the Canucks' namesake inspiration instead of the corporately-inspired Orca. I would also put the original Stick in Rink on the shoulders instead of the current Checkmark in Rink and a return to the timeless block-style font with an added green outline instead of the cheap and bland Agency font.
  13. After seeing what Brock was truly going through, other than battling COVID and his struggles with Green as coach, he fully deserves another chance or two. Brock does need to improve his skating. He's a wonderful quality guy who's well-loved and respected by his teammates. Heartfelt prayers and thoughts to you and your family, Brock.
  14. Made the correction. My goof. Good eye and thanks.
  15. "Huggy" with 3 assists is now 5 points away from Doug Lidster's club record of 63 points, most points in a season by a defenseman.
  16. "Miller Time" with FIVE assists. Becomes one of a few select Canucks players to get 5 assists in a game. Just one assist off from Patrik Sundstrom's club record. Miller also cracked the 60-assist mark and became just the second North American-born Canuck, Todd Bertuzzi being the other, to crack 90 points. If he gets moved, Rutherford and GM Alvin better get a king's ransom in return.
  17. Here's a wonderful stat: Since March 9, BoHo has as many goals(13) as Austin Matthews and Connor McDavid. Impressive, eh?
  18. 'Miller Time' 's two points gives him 80, a first in his career and he's the first Canuck to crack 80 points in 10 seasons. Henrik Sedin was the Canucks' last 80-point scorer with 81 in '11-'12.
  19. Very true. I do think that Brock's rookie season-ending injury has been more mental than physical. If the Canucks do decide to keep Brock and for Brock to finally evolve into an elite NHL sniper, working on his skating should be a #1 priority this off-season.
  20. I've dealt with him numerous times. There are 2 groups of fans....1. Canucks Hockey supporters and 2. Orca supporters. Baggins is the latter. He claimed many times that the first Canucks jersey he ever bought was the Orca. His take that the "Canucks are not the Stick in Rinks nor the Skates" is beyond stupid and ridiculous.
  21. You can't reason with Baggins. For someone who has followed the Canucks from Day 1, he's not a true Canucks fan. No matter how many different looks the Canucks have had, I've noticed something over the past 10 or so years...there are 2 groups of fans.....Canucks hockey supporters and Orca supporters. Someone like myself fits the former. Baggins fits the latter. When it comes to the Canucks brand, my only dealbreakers are the Orca, the modern Checkmark in Rink and the Agency font and any gradient design. Everything else, I will get my wallet out.
  22. It's because you're being closed-minded. I'm not beating around the bush by repeating myself.
  23. I'm afraid your views are among the very minority of Canucks fans. For your information, when the Canucks had their AHL affiliate in Hamilton in the early 90's, they were called the Hamilton Canucks and, like the parent team in Vancouver, they wore the Skate. 2022...whatever. The Canucks are not a 2022 franchise. They're Canada's 3rd oldest NHL franchise going back to 1970 with a 25-year pre-NHL history in the Pacific Coast/Western Hockey League. The Skate is no different in design than the Oilers' circle with the OILERS wordmark and the Flyers' Flying P. Skate in blue and green....talk about being closed-minded to no end.
  24. I haven't been this proud to be a Canucks fan in an extremely long time until two nights ago. Not only because the Canucks thrashed a longtime divisional rival but they looked great in doing it too. For me, the return of the black Skate uniform wasn't so much about the beautiful black, red and yellow colour scheme. It was about the Canucks wearing a Canucks hockey crest with the classic block font instead of the corporately-inspired Orca with the cheap Checkmark in Rink and bland Agency font. Many, many fans want the black Skate back full-time. If it did, I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep. However, even as a huge Skate supporter, the Canucks can't keep leapfrogging back-and-forth between colour schemes. The original BC-themed blue and green scheme needs to stay. It was very wrong to ditch them in the first place. @IBatch is definitely spot on, though. Why do colours have to represent the city?? To me, Vancouver is a city of different colours. Red can be interpreted as Vancouver being a Canadian city. Yellow-gold can be interpreted for our beautiful sunsets. Black goes naturally with yellow-gold and red. Even BC's First Nations use the black, yellow, red & white scheme. Their artwork is found on the base of the Granville Street Bridge on Granville Island. As for the logo, the Orca has long overstayed its welcome and the Checkmark in Rink is a bastardized of the classic Stick in Rink. There are a number kids, tourists and newly arrived residents who think a "Canuck" is an orca whale all because of the Orca logo. Here's what the Canucks can do to unite the majority of the fan base: Option 1: A recoloured Skate in navy blue, white and green as the primary crest. I would even make the Skate level to avoid the downhill criticism. Navy blue is intimidating and with the green, it maintains the BC look. The Hartford Whalers are long gone and no other NHL franchise uses the beautiful blue and green look. Put Johnny Canuck on the shoulders and as the primary on a green 3rd...similar to AHL Abbotsford. Option 2: Keep the Skate in black, yellow and red as what the overwhelming majority want but only as a regular 3rd. In order to keep the blue and green as the primary colour scheme, make the original '70 Stick in Rink the primary home and away crest. Put Johnny Canuck on the shoulders of all jerseys in respective colours. Johnny C would be the bond between the Skate with the SiR. The SiR would also look great on a navy blue uniform as well. There are a number of awesome options but as Canucks Nation, we need to be flexible and open-minded. The only dealbreakers in correcting the Canucks brand are the corporately-inspired Orca, Checkmark in Rink and cheap Agency font.
