I assume your argument is that it is a winnable game so we shouldn't "waste" 2 points going after him. Those are plenty of examples of still very winnable games, yet teammates protect each other.

In our scenario:
1. We are a rebuilding team

2. It is OCTOBER. Game 5 of the season. So if you don't believe that we are a rebuilding team, then you believe we are good enough to fight for the playoffs - plenty of games left to make up the 2 points

3. 19 year old phenom rookie who's been carrying this god awful team 5 games into the season

And you're going to sit there and tell me that it's not worth the 2 points? It was a TIE game, we could have still lost anyways. Take your veil thin excuse and point it in someone else's direction.
