Sabres got lucky in the 'spin of the wheel' where they got legit HHOFer Gilbert Perreault & instant credibility as a team (he was THAT good).  Not that Dale Tallon was a bust but the Tallon was a gourmet burger while Perreault was filet mignon.  

They had a great start, but they've been spinning their wheels since like the mid/late 2000's despite their high picks

The reason it was done:  we're going to be slammed with games all condensed in a short period of time.  So  "too many pages" is less work and better than too many threads.  With separate GDT's and PGT's, the conversation jumps back and forth.

But we appreciate the feedback.  This year is different and so, as mods, it's easier for us to monitor with the new format.

In what role? He's not a great shooter, so he's not going to be on the half wall. He's not big enough to retrieve pucks in the bumper spot, same with net front. That leaves the spot he's currently in now. 

The reason players like Jordan Subban was thought to make him convert to wing, is he wasn't that great of a defenceman. 

Converting him to a winger was thought to give him a shot at making the NHL. 

Hughes has shown, he can defend, and effectively. Having him QB the power play is far more useful than moved to a forward position.

Probably. Definitely more refined skating in all aspects with the new skates for sure. I’m  going to be paying attention more closely to his edge work as well as balance, two things he aruguably needs most work on. 

Honestly just get him going with Bo’s power skating coach and he’s well on his way to being an elite skater.

Petey's so good he has to handicap himself to give the other guys a chance.

McDavid likely demands a trade to an NHL team within the next year or so.  He'll be approaching UFA status by the time the Oilers assemble enough talent to avoid embarrassing themselves, let alone contending for the playoffs.

They have the same issues as they've had for so many years. They drafted the wrong players organizationally and neglected the other aspects of their team.

@Elias Pettersson the problem with Messier wasn't skill, the problem was he was a lazy floater who was a cancer in the locker room.  Monahan is an excellent comparison to that waste of oxygen.  A true leader would have knocked that chip-binging piece of garbage out for being a complete disgrace to the franchise.

Messier is absolute scum and his tombstone should be a urinal.

I remember that Vancouver was pretty hyped on Makar and really wanted him. We got Pettersson though, so it worked out for us! But still, imagine a pairing of Hughes-Makar!
