  1. The Canucks - your story

I was born in Germany and to those who still aren't aware (even after Germany ALMOST (@!#$@!#) taking Gold at this years Winter Olympics), Ice-hockey is one of the bigger sports next to football. We have 3 leagues with approx 30 teams, huge fan culture, the newspaper report the 1st League (DEL - Deutsche Eishockey Liga) almost identical to the Bundesliga (football), and every bigger city has their own Stadium, In Germany the Ice-rinks are just that, they are built only for Ice-hockey, and are not multi-functional as you have it in North America, so there is a huge investment behind the scenes as well, licenses are equally expensive. The city I grew up in was one of the best team is the first league (Kassel Huskies), and naturally you became a fan throughout school, when you would go watch the games together with your friends. One day our home team acquired a Swedish Star Player (unfortunately can't remember the name) and guess who moved into the house next to us. His family had kids my age, and soon we became friends, my family was fitted with free seasonal tickets, merchandise and we met the whole team many times for social events, it was pretty cool. Ten years ago i moved to Singapore, and well you guessed it, Ice-Hockey isn't really big in the tropics, but I met my wife within the first month of arriving, who was here at the university for exchange, originating from.. yup, Vancouver. So once we got serious and I met all her friends, traveled to Vancouver, it was a natural that i became a fan, that was just before Trevor Linden's last game in the 2008 season... I am a huge fan ever since and whenever we go back to Vancouver for family visits I try to catch as many games as possible, my own home team in the meantime went bankrupt and was relegated into the third league, they are back in second now, but due to financial constrains wont make it to the first anymore, since they can’t pay the licensing fees. That’s my story.
  2. [PGT] Arizona Coyotes vs. Vancouver Canucks

Alright... last one switches off the light, just like Rogers Arena now lies dark in the rain, the ice was serviced one last time tonight, the roars have faded, the stands are empty, the player cabins are cleaned, maybe there's a piece of tape lying forgotten on the floor, maybe its from Daniel or Henrik's stick, maybe it was there on ice today when thousands screamed through the thundering sound of the horn throwing their hands in the air and embracing everyone in sight, maybe it was there on the ice when the Sedins performed their last show of magic here on home ice and time stood still one last time before erupting into the loudest place by far and beyond. Just like that 17 years have passed, and when the lights came off, for many, it wasn't just the end of an era for Vancouver Hockey, it felt like it was the last time seeing two friends skate off the ice we all had and grew strong with over throughout all the ups and down this team went through. Many started watching hockey just because of their wit and magic when handling the puck, and many will ask what the future now holds. The future holds a lot my fellow fans, and everything the Sedins have done, will be remembered as the foundation for whats to come. It's lights off for now, but in 6 month we will all be back here when the lights come back on, we will be standing next to the rink and scream our team forward! It's been an amazing time, and it will be too. We are all Canucks!!

The last Shift - quite decent horror movie i watched recently, in case you need to get your thoughts of Sedins never ever never playing on Vancouver ice again ... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2965466/

  7. [PGT] Arizona Coyotes vs. Vancouver Canucks

I am at work, having lunch, sitting in our pantry... and all my colleagues see if slow tears rolling over my cheeks when Daniel scored the OT winner, i'm done, realization setting in about what just happened, and what just concluded.
  8. oh man.. just woke up to this.. i mean it's not surprising, but now that it's a fact, it's harder to realize than when it was just hear say

they might announce it after the season ends or before the last 1-2 home games, or do an off season farewell game dedicated to them
