  1. Well that was all rather anticlimactic... So here's JR covering Dylan....even Dylan loved this cover...dedicated.... "Of all the versions of my recorded songs, the Johnny Rivers one was my favorite. It was obvious that we were from the same side of town, had been read the same citations, came from the same musical family and were cut from the same cloth. When I listened to Johnny’s version of “Positively 4th Street,” I liked his version better than mine. I listened to it over and over again. Most of the cover versions of my songs seemed to take them out into left field somewhere, but Rivers’s version had the mandate down — the attitude and melodic sense to complete and surpass even the feeling that I had put into it. It shouldn’t have surprised me, though. He had done the same thing with “Maybellene” and “Memphis,” two Chuck Berry songs. When I heard Johnny sing my song, it was obvious that life had the same external grip on him as it did on me." Bob Dylan - The chronicle
  2. Here til the last strains of the fat lady's aria has faded to silence and the stage lights are lowered....lower... and go out...for the very last time.

  3. I don't remember the very first song I ever posted in this thread....there's been a few....hundred....I'm sure. And now to choose the very last one... so many to choose from... May we always and ever be.... Aaand.....Fade To Black.... Goodbye, CDC.
  4. It's been a year of massive personal upheaval for me and the closing of this forum is like the icing on the sh*t cake of it. Found love here, wandered away for a bit...lost love...headed straight back to good ole CDC and made a beautiful re-connection.... over 20 years I've been here. For the good. For the bad. For the highs and for the lows. CDC has been a part of my life for so long I can't even imagine if not being here. I have made friends here that I never thought I'd see eye to eye with.... battled with....cried with... mourned with when we lost a treasured member... celebrated weddings, and births of children... laughed with til we couldn't breathe... found common ground on a level that sometimes is hard to find in 'real life'... as in, the person standing next to you in the grocery store! This is a tad all over the place right now, I'm sure I'll have something MUCH more eloquent to say before the end of the month... just needed to say Thank You to a really lovely group of people who I feel like I've been through the wars with... comrades in arms we've been. I sometimes think that the Universe must have brought us all together, here, in this place for some unknown reason... to have found my way back here in a more present way this past month or so has been so very perfect in so many ways. (And I hope that the person this is directed to knows I'm talking about them!) I'm a little gobsmacked at this news... on some level I just figured CDC would always be here. Which I know is beyond silly at my age... I need to thank SN for his massive patience with me over the years... and for allowing me to come back with a new name and account. His patience has known NO end after all this time!! Thank you for the new place to go.... some of us have been brothers (and sisters and lovers) in arms on other incarnations of a Canucks Refugee board but we always knew that CDC was here to come home to when and if we needed to. Never one to keep it short, I'm sure I'll have more to say as the time comes to wave goodbye to our beloved CDC.... GO CANUCKS!!
  5. On second thought, this might have violated some TOS so here's a replacement...
  6. Picture 16 was a selfie so here's #15 and #17... My patio earlier in the summer... And number 17.... bear leavings on my Mom's front lawn, Sunshine Coast deposited between the time I walked out the door to take the garbage out and my return via the back gate... oh, hello, Yogi!
  7. And I've always loved me a little Dusty Springfield!
  8. Best song for me on that album was her cover of Dylan's I Threw It All Away....
  9. I may be a touch green with envy! Got to see him at The Coliseum during The Rising Tour back in 2003 and what a show it was!! Enjoy every moment of the concert!!
  10. It was a bucket list item fulfilled when I got to see him in concert with James Taylor at Rogers in May '22..... it turned me into an even bigger Jackson Browne fan, if that was even possible! This song seemed to captivate everyone.... almost pin drop time!
  11. The blues may have wandered onto my playlist tonight, too....
  12. LOVE it!!! Thanks, D! For some reason this song kept popping into my head today... ♪♪ Outlaws waitin' for the stage, Desperadoes from another age So lock up your daughters and hide your silver away Those rock and roll cowboys are on the road again..... ♪♪
