  1. One look at his stats, and I see that he got 7 goals in 15 playoff games in the KHL last year.
  2. It was a horrible call. Put a sour note on what was an amazing game. Reid's playcalling was amazing. Those motions discombobulated the Eagles' defense all game. But Sirianni coached a great game too. The Eagles exerted their will on every 4th and 1. It was an incredibly weak call. If they had not called that, the Eagles might have tied the game, and forced overtime. It was a good game nonetheless, but it could have been legendary.
  3. That was the weakest holding call ever. Completely unnecessary. Should have just let the players decide the game.
  4. As much as I want to see Myers get traded, we'd get more for him after his bonus is paid.
  5. I think Boeser is turning a new leaf under Tocchet. It was Boudreau who almost sat him for Hockey Fights Cancer Night. If we don't get a good return for Boeser, keep him.
  6. I don't get the point of buying out OEL before we are playoff hopefuls.
  7. We don't need Kotkaniemi. We are getting a center in the top 5 of this draft. Miller is a way better player than Kotkaniemi, and has the flexibility to play on the wing.
  8. I really don't want Kotkaniemi. Would rather keep Miller. Raty will be better than Kotkaniemi.
  9. Maybe it's not a "total rebuild," but it's a "rebuild." I'm using quotation marks because it's just semantics in the end. Having Pettersson and Hughes as the only untouchables sounds pretty drastic to me. I'm just saying we should wait until the Timo Meier domino falls before we trade Miller. We'd have a potential bidding war for his services after that. We should get something on par with the Horvat trade for Miller. Horvat's having a better season, but he's potentially a rental; Miller has been a PPG with the Canucks, and he's already under contract.
  10. Trading both Horvat and Miller, including some other trades still to come, is a rebuild.
  11. I think Boeser will pump his value playing on the 1st unit PP with Horvat gone. He's pretty good on the bumper too. Kuzmenko kind of took his position as the net player.
  12. While I was against keeping Horvat til the trade deadline for fear of a trade because he was a pending UFA, I think Miller's contract is a bit protective. He signed a pretty team friendly contract for someone who almost got 100 points. If we get a good offer, we can trade him, if not, we don't need to rush it. We don't have to worry about an injury like we did with Horvat. Once some dominos fall, we could get a lot for Miller. If he gets injured, we'll still have him when he recovers. He's not a lost asset. I like Miller though. Would be okay with it if he stays. But if we enter a full rebuild I wouldn't be against that either.
  13. I was thinking that too. Would be incredible. But I have a feeling Michkov will still go high despite the uncertainty around Russian players.
  14. The Horvat trade signals a rebuild. Maybe not a long rebuild, but a rebuild nonetheless. It looks like we're tanking for a top 3 pick. If we luck out and get Bedard, we could get a defenseman with our second 1st. That would jumpstart things instantly. Or, the Islanders do worse than expected, and the protected pick slides to 2024, where there's a wealth of high end defensive picks. I actually hope this happens. They're not doing any better next year, especially if Bo doesn't resign. I have to wonder though, would a second 1st rounder this year would make us more comfortable with taking Michkov? It's a big risk, with a high potential payoff. The reason I'm asking this though, is that if we take Michkov, would we go with a center with our second 1st rather than a defenseman? In this draft, a center would almost certainly be rated higher. I think the ideal scenario would be that we'd get one of Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, and Smith this year; and one of the top D next year.
  15. Stoked we got Raty. He played really well for Jukerit in the Liiga after being drafted. Proved that he shouldn't have dropped in the draft. Glad he's going to play in Abbotsford. Really psyched to see who he plays with, and if he helps us in the playoffs.
  16. I think Bo will do well for the Isles. We don't have to worry about them flipping him for a better return. That would be a really bad look. However, I think his goal scoring will take a hit. Don't see him scoring 50 goals. You never know, with Barzal passing to him, but I just don't see it. He'll do enough that they'll keep him, but not nearly enough to make them contenders.
  17. In hindsight, I should have said there's a "perceptible chance" he'd resign with us instead of "good chance." Horvat strikes me as a loyal player, and I don't think we treated him that poorly. Allvin spoke with his agent before the trade--maybe he floated the idea of signing him in the offseason. Still, if we get Bedard, it doesn't matter.
  18. I don't really see him resigning with the Islanders, honestly. I think it would have been more likely he'd resign with Boston, Detroit, or New Jersey. If we move out enough cap, there's a good chance he's just a rental and resigns with us in the offseason.
  19. It might actually be a genius move to delay fixing our defense. Without Horvat, and still not addressing our defense, we could conceivably tank hard enough to get Bedard.
  20. We were almost top 10 in goals for with Horvat. We are much, much worse without him. I wouldn't be surprised if we're last in the league the rest of the way. You have to remember--we will make more trades--and they could be for a full scale tank.
  21. I'm not sure what you're arguing. Are you saying we should have kept Horvat cause we were doing bad with him anyway?
