This is why countries including ours has quarantine procedures. These procedures are part of our health mandate. If we quarantine the country or a province for 2 weeks the virus can be beat of course this is worst case scenario and only the old and ill are affected by this so quarantine procedures can be altered to protect the most affected. The health authorities would lock down nursing homes old age homes and parts of the hospitals like the ICUs. For the rest of us, truth is it's not that bad and catching it would mean once we have overcome it our bodies will have immunity to these type of virus down the road. Or at least are bodies will be ably to fight virus of different strains much easier

I actually made a post in the off topic thread about the virus. You will see I'm not arguing against washing hands but over washing and using antibacterials. And just because something is true hundreds or thousands of years does not make it true to day other wise the earth would still be thought to be flat Micro biology has a whole field in this subject it deals with microorganisms As I said I will stick to my daily routine, for me this means washing my hands before and after meals after using the washroom and I shower every day. If you don't wash your hands or shower in the day then maybe you should change your daily routine

Around the time this thread was made I pulled all my money out of stocks and sat on cash. Cash sucks but right then it was all I could do. Yes you could buy gold but as some as this virus goes away the market is going to move up again and once that happens gold will devalue. So I decided to lock it up in a 1 year GIC at 2.3% interest this was late January. I hate GICs but I hate cash sitting around even more doing nothing. My reasoning on a 1 year GIC is this yes I could have done 90 days or 120 days GIC but the problem is that's 1 %. Nothing is worse more then 1% other then zero % at 2.3% I at least keep up with inflation. But their is one other reason for a 1 year GIC. The election, until a president is chosen the market is going to fluctuate like crazy. Biden won super Tuesday and the market goes up. The Virus hit 100k it goes down. If the Virus hits 10k death toll the market is going to look like someone took a dump on it and everything is going to get flushed. If 10k die of this Virus that means we will have over 300,000 affected. 300,000 will mean we have a full breakout on our hands, which means all of the western world will be dealing with closures of every single sector of our economy including and the worst part the supply chain. If the Supply chain collapse the Market collapse and it will take years to recover back to where we were before this started. Compounding the issue is that this is an election year for the US, this wouldn't be a huge deal except for the fact that Trump is the president and how he deals with this issue is completely a guess by anyone ( all of this creates the one thing markets hate the most uncertainty). Look at where the Virus is now we are at 95 countries with cases, over a 100k affected. Virus start slow and exponentiate, by the end of this week we could have 10k death toll. by the end of the month we could have a million affected. 2021 will be the year to buy, because you won't be able to buy lower. Here is the thing, even if this Virus doesn't get to worse case scenario, the election will still keep it from fully recovering and 2021 will still be a good year to buy stocks.

In stead of buying bottles of water this is what you should buy paper plates Paper napkins plastic forks knives spoons WTF am I talking about if you have to isolate yourself but you have a family in your house, have your mom, dad, wife, sister, or who ever is cooking for you put your food on throw away stuff and place it in front of your door. Once you are well make sure everything is bagged well and throw it out your self. If you had the virus you can't re-catch the virus. This will prevent a family member taking your plate away and catching it themselves because the virus can be left on the plate. If you have a bedroom with a bathroom in it use that room as the isolation room. After you are well you should clean the bedroom and bathroom. For the most part the virus will not live after 2 weeks no-one should enter the room who hasn't had the virus for at least 2 weeks. Sheets should be cleaned mattresses should be wiped down vinegar water should be good enough for this as long as no one is going in the room for at least 2 weeks don't forget your curtains. wash everything cloths, towels everything. When you shower after you have had the virus make sure you use gloves to turn on your shower open up your shower curtain, this way the next person to use the shower doesn't have a chance to catch it. Even though you have beat the virus it could still be on you. It will be completely harmless to you but not to those who haven't had it. You might think the virus is dead because you feel better but the chances are you feel better because your body has killed most of it off but rudiments of the virus may still exist. Take an extra day and be sure it is fully gone. We have all had the flu and gotten over it and felt great but trust me you weren't a 100% better till at least a day or 2 later. You felt great cause it was far better then what you just suffered.

Yes I agree the sick should wear them but they do little to nothing for the prevention of the virus, so yes everyone please don't buy them up unless you are sick

I bring this up because my wife is currently staying at home with our child. So what happens, my wife was making 80k a year when she left her job. The industry rate will be somewhere between 50-55k. It is based on the median salary of BC at the time of injury. What happens if you are a part time worker making 13.85 (min wage) but you are also a university student. You get the industry wage. It won't matter if you are studying to be a doctor or engineer or a teacher, it is industry wage for you. No earning potential will be applied to your case. (that's why we go to court each case is different) I could also get into why they chose net income over gross income but with out diving to far, let me put it this way. There are many ways to lower your taxes, spousal deduction, rrsp deduction, new home buyer deduction are some that most people will understand there are many but when you receive net income you can not get your taxes back. (where did people free choice go) Then their is the problem with not paying into CPP. So this question needs to be answered. Is the wage set for a life time (I assume it will be adjusted for inflation other wise your 40k will become peanuts in 20 years) or do they stop the money at retirement age if so you have lost years of CPP contributions. The Sask model pays out lump sums including the wage, the BC government has said it will to and it is following the Sask model how does 250k sound for a life time of never walking again cause that's what they pay in Sask I recommend everyone to look at the Sask model before you make a decision about how good or bad this is

There is a very good chance that all Three guys running for President could die of coronavirus All of them are in their 70s All of them are or will be travelling the USA All of them will becoming across millions of people Like how can they even survive, these guys are going to do everything that the Scientist, doctors and health professionals tell us not to do. Their going to do all of it and they are all in the high risk category of dying from it I guess the phrase last man standing is going to take a literal meaning this time

I recommend throw the mask away put latex gloves on and don't let anyone else touch your face or cough and sneeze on you. The virus hasn't really gone airborne so the mask is doing nothing. A virus doesn't need to go through the mask it will go under it. A virus will attach to your face and then seek a way in to the body. A virus is so small that a surgical mask is not tight enough to keep a virus out. Surgical masks are usually worn by doctors to stop blood from squirting into their mouth. It can stop secretions from a sneeze or a cough that hits the mask directly but if it hits the mask the secretions also hit your face, and as I already said a mask doesn't cover your eyes which are connected to your sinuses, which is of course connected to your respiratory system and blood stream

Think about it this way right now we know that unless you are old or your respiratory system is compromised if you get the virus you will recover but if we kill our natural defences to it, we don't know what will happen. So those of us the majority of people should just go about their daily lives if we get sick stay away from people and rest and recovery will happen. Old people and those that are compromised should stay away from the general public, if they can. These are the people that should wear masks but keep in mind masks do not cover eyes and your eyes are connected to your sinuses so no touching your eyes neither

This is a virus not bacterial. Over Hand washing is not a good idea. HIV is a virus can washing you hands kill HIV? Take a guess what the V stands for. Viruses are living in the secretions when you sneeze or cough, if you wash the secretions off before it gets to your skin then yes hand washing can wash the virus off but if it attaches to the skin you can not wash it off or kill it. That's why scientists say a virus can live for hours or days outside the body. If a virus attaches itself to something biological then it can live for days. If it can not attach to a biological creature it will die within hours. That means if it attaches to you you have high probability of letting the virus inside your body and this is why they tell us not to touch our face. The problem is that unless you wash your hands with in mins of the virus getting on you by the secretions you will end up getting it. There are also studies that show if you keep your hands clean there are less bacteria for it to attach to how ever when you wash your hands you are also washing the good bacteria off of them. Those bacteria might fight them naturally or at least give your body an indication that your body has a virus on it and initiate your immune system to get its defence system ready.

By using antibacterials people are also killing the good bacteria on their hands the body naturally makes. If you get the virus on you hands it will also get on to the good bacteria which will then tell your body that the virus has attached to you. Which will also signal to your body to get your natural defences ready. If you kill this bacteria the virus will have a longer time to attack your body before your defences go up. At this point only old people and people with respiratory issues are at high risk. So why should the majority of people change their daily routine. If you kill the good bacteria on your hands even the scientists don't know what the effects on younger people will be. I think I will just stick to my daily routine.

I know this is way off topic but Telling people to wash their hands cause it can help is as stupid as Trump asking the scientists if the flu shot can be used to stop this virus

The people are told to wash their hands so they can feel proactive and like their doing something to help

I don't make haunches If you look at the odds from multiple sites you would notice the odds are anywhere between 72%-78% chance of making the playoffs I take in the intangibles because I follow this team and I know that this team can go on a run, I know this team can have 6,7,8 and even 9 goal games against the best of teams so yeah I'm sticking to 80% chance but really I would honestly give them a 100% chance simply because I believe this team has it in them. The most important thing about this team I see is, that their core is young and as every game goes by they have the ability to learn and improve faster unlike an older team. Older teams, older players just can't find that next gear they are what they are. So if they are great players they can't be greater more likely they decline then get better. But young players have so much more room to improve.

If the virus effects the playoffs in any of the Major leagues I would beat the Unions and owners just say cancel it all what would be the point of flying from city to city, incurring cost and not making any money the owners wont have it. The players wont risk their health going to air ports

LOL I can so see the Canucks making the playoffs and then no one being able to go to the games because of the Coronavirus or even worse playoffs are cancelled completely
