  1. Bluntly - JB blew it. He pissed Stetcher off by not qualifying him. No respect by JB for the effort that Stetcher put in for the team. Remember Stetcher played on the #2 D pairing with Edler most of last season. He is a bona-fide NHL player and has played 286 regular season games. There is no replacement in the Canucks inor league system. Only prospects. Ad Tanev going to Calgary, we are in trouble for RHD.men.
  2. IMO JV should start the season in Utica. He should have been there last year but he wasn't 20 so the Canucks couldn't send him down, and going back to Jr. really not an option, so they kept him. He really needs to learn the pro game and play a lot. He did show some flashes of why he was a #6 pick overall in 2014. In general he was inconsistent and at times - undisciplined. After a month or two in Utica and providing he is playing well then bring him back. He should be a better player and know what it takes to be an NHL player.
  3. Like most on this thread about Jake Virtanen - a lot has been expected of him as he was a high draft pick (6 th in 2014). I would think that everyone on this site has seen JV play with the Canucks and in the WJC in Finland. So most have panned him as not being that good either in the NHL or in the WJC. Quite frankly - I agree. The Canucks should have kept him one more year in Jr. as he is not NHL ready. Next year he has to go to Utica to learn the pro game. A season or part of it in the AHL will determine if he was a 6th overall pick or not. Someone has to work with him on improving his positional play on a team. He seems to wander a lot and often not where he should be. In the meantime - give the guy a chance and and have some patience with his development.
  4. I agree with your comments. We don't know where he will fit in the NHL, a top 6 forward or not. However he needs to go back to Jr. with the Hitmen for the rest of the year. Once the Hitmen's season is over then he should go to the AHL. He has a lot to learn and he will learn it in Utica. He is not ready to contribute at the NHL level.
  5. Hutton is not subject to Waivers. Players on an entry level contract, which Hutton is, are on a 2-way contract and not subject to waivers for 3 years. They can be sent to the AHL without going through waivers. The same would apply to Bo Horvat. Frank Corrado was picked up on waivers by Toronto. According to the CBA contract he is Toronto's roster for 30 days before they either keep him on their NHL roster or move him to the AHL. If they want to send him to the AHL he must again put on waivers and if he clears he goes to the AHL. Currently Corrado is on a "conditioning assignment" with Toronto's AHL team. He can only be sent down for conditioning for 14 days and only with his agreement. He is still paid his NHL salary. Hope that helps. You can find out more information on the Internet.
