  1. In Horvats case, I don’t think he has a long shelf life.
  2. I don’t think he should get much more than 6.5 (if that) .. especially if it goes past 5 years.
  3. Obviously “talks” would have to happen, and I’m sure the Jets would not restrict that. Bo is eligible to be traded anywhere. Could be Dubois, could be some one else,. My point here is to expose that Horvat is just as equal an asset to move at this time , as is Miller.…. But Miller might be the one to keep, rather than Horvat .
  4. Lol, no .. I’m making conversations about other possibilities that exist at this time. Moving Horvat is a possibility.. if another team called and said ”why haven’t you signed Horvat yet?” .. and that team made an offer they can’t refuse,. do you keep him because it upsets the fan base too much?
  5. Not at all. I could really care less about what happens because it’s out of my control. but if Bo does go, going to be a lot of broken pink hearts in Vancouver, and on these boards.… as there was when we traded a 1st rnd pick for JT. best move this team has made since 2011, apart from drafting Demko.
  6. Your opinion could be used with Horvat just as easy.. The difference between Horvat and Miller is aprx.. 50 pts and 1m per year on the next contract. Nothing coming back from a Miller trade is going to replace him. But it’s possible to get something similar, plus an asset back from moving Horvat. I think my assumptions are less than yours on this.
  7. Wasn’t this your argument with LE staying with the Canucks? exceptional defensive numbers, leader in the room..
  8. He’s been injured a bit too. Thus the other argument, what if he gets hurt at the start of the season? .. that’s how it ended last season.
  9. That’s what I’m saying, Hertyl is overpaid. Bo shouldn’t even get 7m on a love me I’m a Canuck for life contract.
  10. Now your overvaluing Horvat. There are many here who think their favorite players are gods. Dubois could / should start to prime next season , especially going somewhere offering the opportunities Bo has been given.
  11. That’s a leaps and bounds statement, but your not associating it with any loss of production from Horvat, which will happen also. Horvat at 7m declining from his production now, is more of a loss to us than the decline Miller might have from 100 pts at 8m. Using Toews as an example, if you like.. Millers numbers dropping to 40 or 50 points after 4 seasons is basically matching those of Horvats now. so what do Horvats numbers decline to in 4 years at 7m?
  12. Yes, two different players, two different styles, why do we have to replace what Horvat brings to us? We’re not replacing that if we trade Miller. If we traded for Bo for Dubois, I think a sweetener would be included from the Jets, a pick?
  13. And he’s younger, more physical , with a higher ceiling potential. Horvat has probably given us his best, but at least your pointing out Bo’s value in a trade.
  14. I think it’s fair term, that’s been openly stated. Like the agent said, he thinks it can get worked out. If your looking for a contract that dosent work out for player value, check out T Hertyls .. 8.2 x 8yrs.
  15. Nope.. you guys could be in for a rude awakening,. This the silence on a contract not GIVEN to Horvat yet, although the org. says they reall like him.
  16. Perhaps if Bo played better or stepped up to the opportunity while playing 2c , he would not have been outplayed by Miller. Bo has been here long enough to understand what opportunities exist. Miller learned, and jumped on those opportunities. Put Miller with anyone and he conducts his lines to play to their strengths. … lol, you make it sound like Horvat has played with LE his entire career.
  17. That dosent make any sense at all,. and probably why Bo haven’t been signed already. if you get Miller to sign a contract that is fair, then you have the option to move Horvat to supplement Millers contract. Replacing Horvat is easier than replacing Miller, without taking a step back.
  18. I too can appreciate Bo’s contribution here,. But at REAL, price point and term needs to adjust to that contribution and as a declining asset. That’s where I’d consider replacing him with someone like a PLDubois might make sense. 24 years old and rising, heavier game. im playing the part of Devils advocate in this thread because the time to date involved here warrants a discussion at all levels. Others might call me a hater here,. but it truly shows their pink virgin hearts.
  19. It’s not goal post moving, Miller is worth more to us in this team, than by trading him. He is better than Horvat. But Horvat will bring the same, or more in a return. Why? .. because no one is devaluing him as a declining asset, and he is highly regarded as the face of Canuck hockey. Horvat will never touch the ceiling Miller is at, but Miller could easily only decline to give us the out put that Horvat has.… and the talk here is Miller might only be worth 1m more per year than Horvat. Miller is worth more to US than Horvat.… but if posters here are looking for a high return from another team for Miller,. Realistically, I don’t see it being more than what Horvat would bring in a trade. So IF we’re going to trade a player from the player position of Center, why would we trade our best one , when we have another of equal value to another team, but lesser to us in his position. too many here have attachments to “birthing” draft picks as their own, and holding them forever in their hearts not wanting to move them and expecting home town discounts because of that “love”. it’s not a knock,. It’s just a reality.. it has been the “culture” here for quite a long time. This is Millers 3rd of 4th season with us,. and has been dynamically grown into a superb player and leader with this team. He has openly said he is grateful for the opportunities he has been given to become the best he can. I just think this city and Fanbase should be as proud of Miller being, and continuing being a Canuck as can be for other “drafted” players for all the wrong reasons. Miller would not have excelled here unless he enjoys being here.. think about how an extension, and fan appreciation here in Vancouver will have him react.
  20. No , but he spoke highly of him to increase his trade value, so other teams will think he is a valuable asset, worthy of a great return…. One better than that of the declining asset in Miller the entire NHL knows of.
  21. So he is worth sooo much more, is a great player…. so what happened to the declining asset argument that has everyone wanting to move him?? Do you not think another team would use that same argument in any type of return back for Miller.. ? and if he goes at the trade DL , it’s for a flash in the pan with a team hoping to get to at least a conference championship. After that he goes UFA. a complete loss to another team. Pretty sure management wants him here more than Bo,. Otherwise Bo would have been signed already. Not signing Bo before Miller is a huge indicator.
  22. Consider what you’ve paid EP so far for developing,. And the fact you might lose him like any other player who has recently decided to got to a winning team.… something EP has stated. Whereas Miller loves the city and wants to stay and contribute here. Horvat would bring us the same or close to, back in grade value as Miller. Miller IS twice the player , and will play at a far better level than Horvat will ever achieve.
