  1. "The shelves are full" is a lie, we are scraping the floor hoping to find a lost diamond right now. Every piece that has any NHL potential at all is going to be on the team next year, which isn't good. 5 years into a rebuild, that's pathetic. Don't blame it on MG either because he would have traded the core and got this thing moving a long time ago. There are some really awesome players that we got in the drafts. I just know there could have been more.
  2. They would have each returned a first round pick at minimum. Suddenly we have a Tuch, Sanheim, Kapanen, Schmaltz or someone in that range, pick 2 of em.
  3. In retrospect it's too bad nobody listened to Tortorella, he knew the core was stale and wanted to do a full-on rebuild. Would have loved to see what we could have brought back after trading the Sedins back then, and how much ahead or behind we would be now.
  4. Let's not get crazy now.
  5. No you didn't, I'm just agreeing with you for once
  6. There's no way he gets $4M and I doubt his camp is asking for that if they are coming to the table with any sort of realistic number. If I would guess, they are asking $3.7M and the Canucks offered $3M.
  7. Well, he has a bachelor degree and so do I. Looks like I'm also a science professor! He's also a science advocate, wow so am I!
  8. 5 years is not short or panicky. I wish there were a bunch of guys blowing off the doors in Utica but there aren't. The fact that we dont have any top 6 winger outside boeser is not depth.
  9. Well I wouldn't agree that Managing a team to the longest playoff drought in the franchises 50 year history was predicted. JB has done parts of his job ok and other parts of his job he has failed incredibly at. He has made 3 great picks in drafts, but I would think that should be the scouts job over his. This team has been chasing its own tail for awhile now and I am not alone in feeling like it needs to change now. I'll give him this season, as a fan, and after this if he doesn't make this into a playoff team I'm done with JB and he SHOULD be fired. Please find me a job I can fail at for 5 years and not get fired.
  10. You'd keep a guy that, in this scenario, has just solidified himself as the GM during the longest playoff drought in franchise history?
  11. Who was on the Sedin line when Daniel was getting punched? Kesler or Burrows? Does that mean you no longer think of Burrows as a warrior?
  12. In retrospect he made the right move for his career. He got to the playoffs several times and as soon as the Canucks were able to get competitive again, his career looks like it might be over. Imagine the regret that he would have had if he wasted away his last years on a bottom dweller. The same people who hate on Kesler for wanting a chance to win are the same ones who rip on Edler for not wanting to take a trade in order to win.
  13. One incredible playoff run you mean, which included carrying the team on his back through Nashville and being the hardest working player by a long shot. A major piece of arguably the best Canucks team of all time. You are exactly who I am talking about.
  14. Too bad Canuck fans (en masse) didn't respect him after he left. The guy was a Canuck Legend.
  15. Or they trade their 8th overall, Poolparty and another pick for Benn.
  16. I would argue improving defense would by default improve defense, while improving offense would improve offense. Adding "OFFENSIVE" defensemen would improve offense.
  17. 4 month scoring drought Donskoi? My god, if you think our current lineup has whipping boys just wait for that dud.
  18. I will say if they retain salary to make him a $6.5M/year player, I'd be much more inclined to have him but it would cost 2019 1st rounder and a good player.
  19. He would be fantastic for 3 years. Then we would regret it.
