  1. Believe it or not, all of the pro sports in NA come in lower than national averages when it comes to crime.
  2. What if she or anyone else for that matter made a comment attacking a different demographic? What if she called basketball culture toxic and that from her experience they are just black boys who are bullies? I guarantee she would be fired for that.
  3. Like I said yesterday, timing is everything. If she thought that it was the correct time to make a comment like that, she deserves to get fired. It is obvious that it wasn't and she lacked the foresight to see that. It is inexcusable. It was a racist, ignorant comment made at the wrong time on a national stage.
  4. http://www.nfl.com/videos/baldys-breakdowns/0ap3000001076335/Breaking-down-Clowney-s-most-destructive-game-Baldy-s-Breakdowns Clowney needs a massive contract. There are not many players in NFL history that can do what he does in the Run and Pass game.
  5. I literally made 8 differently worded google searches searching for it. Found nothing of the sorts.
  6. Everybody holds their own prejudice against other others. You would be lying if you say otherwise. I don't see anything wrong with that. Now acting upon your prejudice is an issue.
  7. I for one don't believe what he said was xenophobic. I can't speak as to her previous comments. Timing is everything in media though.
  8. Irrelevant. Understand the context of the situation. A icon of Canadian and Hockey Culture was abruptly fired and you decide to go on an aggressive tangent on Hockey Culture? There was no positive outcome from what she said. At the very least with Don there was a patriotic aspect.
  9. I am not offended by either Don's or Jess' comments. I just think that if she is not let go, than we set a dangerous precedent.
  10. From the thread I created.... Skip to 00:34 for the start of her spiel. In my humble opinion, this is way worse than what Donald S. said given the context of the situation. Just curious to see if she will get fired or if she will be held to a different standard. Thoughts? @Bob.Loblaw I am responding to you Currently 73% of Canada's population is "White". This number is becoming smaller and smaller (which I am happy about). We are beginning to see an influx of minorities that are playing hockey and getting drafted. Look at the Canucks and Jett Woo. Akil Thomas is a guy I know pretty well who plays for the Ice Dogs, is another one. Matt Dumba, Nazem Kadri, Mathiue Joesph, Anthony Duclair, GIvani and Gemel Smith, Darnell Nurse, the Subban family. We aren't there yet, but the numbers are growing. Do I beleive that there are gay players in the NHL? Yes, I am certain of it. But lets think about how many athletes have come out in the NBA, MLB, or the NFL? I am not LGBTQ+ so I cannot comment on why nobody has come out, to pin this just on Hockey culture is a straw man argument. And yes I would spend more to get my kid into hockey if he/she wanted too. My maternal grandparents were immigrants coming from families of +10 siblings and did so for my mother and aunt. It is how I was raised and are part of my values.
  11. I framed it in this way because there are certain parallels to the situation. This is a nationally televised show, on a nationally televised network.

  14. Honestly, the whole ordeal made me feel bad about not getting one sooner. I'm not technically a minority, but my half of my family immigrated to Canada post WW2 and on the other side, my granny was actually conceived in Italy during WW2 from a relationship between a Canadian soldier and an Italian woman.
  15. That's my main issue. For example last week was National Coming Out Day. A friend of mine who is very catholic (grew up in a Filipino Household), attended a event revolving around that day with a friend of his that had recently come out as gay. He wears a cross every day, and didn't remove it. He received discriminatory comments all day, people criticizing him for what religion he practices. He kept his mouth shut for the most part, and when he did open his mouth, he said he was there supporting his good friend. It did not let up the entire event. We hold certain groups of our population to a different standard, and that is a very dangerous thing imo. We are supposed to be evolving to a point where we don't have different standards for different groups of people. How would/do people react if the roles were reversed? To be clear, I don't have any resentment towards any sort of ethnic or religious minority (I grew up in east van ffs), nor do I have a problem with people who have a non-traditional sexual orientation. I have a problem with double standards.
  16. The PC crowd is ruining western civilization, this is coming from someone that up until very recently thought of myself as a socialist. I would not want to have any sort of fame in today's day and age because in order for you not to be ostracized you need to alter your non-radical views.
  17. Fun game. Great defensive performance from Seattle and the offense turned it around in the second half. Russ makes a horrible throw on the wheel route (on the pick). He needs to throw that wheel to the boundary. That is a basic read/decision.
  18. Y'all have my boy on your squad now, James "Boobie" Williams. Good guy, enjoy him
  19. Will be praying for the repose of his soul and for the entire Markstrom family
  20. He throws such a pretty ball though
  21. All you draft junkies Bama-LSU is today. Probably 10-12 First round picks in this upcoming draft on that field today My favourite is Terrell Lewis. Beast
