Do you let a player's personal life/views affect if you're a fan or want them on your favorite team?
I'm talking political ideologies, criminal record or run-ins with the law, personality and opinions, etc.

their all just people , with all the same problems (except money ) which for some is a problem, some guys make it a priority to complete their education, boeser . others denie their schooling in pursuit of their hockey career ie ryan smyth , and then theres players like Andrew ference was , doesn't drive a car ,vegetarian. and then theres the kane's . the whole spectrum , and its always been that way. some small town players never lose that small town 'way'. some become arrogant and self intitaled. that's hockey.

Yeah, it definitely affects my opinions of players, but much more so in the positive direction than anything else. I can't recall explicitly disliking a player because of their views, but I did like both Booth and Hamhuis because they were Christian players.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, things like run-ins with the law do lower my esteem of players, so I guess it can happen in the negative way as well, but I can't recall it happening to a Canuck in my time as a fan.

Sometimes, but I generally try not to get too tangled up in their beliefs or values. Same goes for musicians. I'll listen to the music of a number of musicians I don't agree with on certain levels simply because I love the music. Does my listening/buying/supporting their music and therefore supporting bother me sometimes? Occasionally, but life is full of stuff like that. Ideologies, beliefs, values, morals, opinions, perceptions, judgements, ect.. none of em are always going to be neat and tidy things.
