  1. Axel Sandin Pellikka 11th David Reinbacher 20th Lukas Dragicevic 27th No many RHD in the early 1st round. None clear cut for the top 10 that I can see.
  2. I remember being younger and being passionate about seeing the next generation of players. I think it is a large factor in what keeps the league interesting but also what I would term a "boys club" this is not a rags to riches sport like soccer which provides at least an iota of opportunity. These players are vetted and groomed. Just think of all the wonderful players who never had a chance to show their potential. Perhaps Malcolm Gladwell has tainted my perception haha.
  3. Vancouver Canucks revenue 2022 | Statista This actually appears to be true, According to this 187M highest profits since 06.
  4. Hockey players have 10 good years, 20 - 30 they are all *&^*&^ young haha. 1.Is the player skilled enough 2.Will he fit with your team 3. What is his cap hit 4. Does he factor into your timeline (this should be the only credit to age yet it seems overvalued in the league, (perhaps pace and injuries are a factor for aging players?)
  5. I'd be happy to watch the Canucks compete hard and have a shot at the playoffs, really the odds of "winning the cup" are low for almost every team and there are better teams but it has to start with good hockey. It is that something special that makes a team come together for a run and this is something that is unquantifiable. There can only be one winner but damn there can be good hockey. Seeing the lack of compete the last few seasons has been hard for us all and trying to understand why our franchise has been unable to put together an entertaining team has been even more frustrating. I don't think we are the only team in the league dealing with this issue. Is it a league issue or franchise issue, so far as I can tell cap flexibility due to league parity/restrictions has hurt the Canucks along with other teams in successful markets. Time for a new commish ... just saying
  6. So considering the value of Hronek what would Bear yield, likely a 1st ...and I feel he's worth more to us than that.
  7. I think there are Character issues with Chychrun but i'm only speculating... I am curious how much higher the asking price for him would have been (probable a top 6 NHL player (Boeser) along with the 1st and 2nd? .... and no 4th coming back for sure...
  8. Stay at home right D... Myers?? I know he's not the best we already moved on Tanev so not sure what management expects from Myers other than his contract is large
  9. Slick and Savy GM work by Detroit you cannot argue they didn't get the most for the player. I think it's a hockey trade given the current market. A few points to consider: 1.Not pulling the trigger on Hronek likely means losing that player to another team 2. Not many RHD available in the first two rounds 3. We have other players to move for picks 4. Canucks fans don't like trades where there isn't a clear cut winner. Two savy GM's went head to head and Detroit timed it perfectly..
  10. I think the 2nd was a tough pill to swallow, IMO getting a third back would have lessened the sting (not sure did they have a 3rd to give?).
  11. I don't know about the "window for winning" argument in this trade. I don't see it... EP will be 29 and Hronek will be 30. Looks like a perfect window for a run within the next 5 years...
  12. Hughes - Myers / Bear OEL - Hronek ? - Bear / Myers We also got AB in the Horvat trade.... agree that the price was high for Hronek but there are very few RHD available in the first rounds, I think this factored into whether the pick was moveable.
  13. I've found playing the devils advocate in discussions regarding management to be very unpopular... We talk about players being sensationalized in the media but what about Canucks Management? It seems nothing anyone does within/for our organization is below the radar of passionate Canucks fans.
  14. Having time to digest the BH trade and the interviews with GM P.A, I think the main issue all along that has been overlooked, is that the Canucks truly put their best offer forward in wanting to resign him. They made a reasonable offer (with perhaps a small "home town discount") and it was ultimately rejected. I am not sure what he will get on the open market but I don't imagine more than 9m or a shorter 10m deal. This is not to slight BH only to say that the offer was put forward and turned down ( I think something happened during negotiations that soured things but i'm only speculating). The return we got was reasonable especially considering his free agent status next year. Sad to see such a great player go. All the best to him and his family, he was such a great role model for the city.
  15. I will also add that by trading for LP he took away valuable mins from Abby players that could have used the time to develop their skills in the NHL. Now that time (coaching, practicing..etc) they spent on LP is wasted or in a sense gifted to CBJ....
  16. It is unfortunate to lose LP although not a major loss for the organization, but why would we include him in a trade deal only to lose him later in the year... ? Why not acquire a player that had already cleared waivers... it really is confusing... Again it's not the end of the world, but leaves a big question mark about the organizations long term vision. Could we not have gotten a different player in the Bear trade that we actually had potential to keep within the organization?? ( I suppose it was a gamble they took that didn't pay off?)
  17. Would Seattle part with Wright ? Does anyone have information on Ville Ottavainen?
  18. I guess the rumblings are that his value is an early 2nd round pick and perhaps a gamble prospect, this would be from a team able to take on cap. I suppose another scenario might be to trade for a younger reliable 3rd line prospect and a lower pick (not sure this is what we need). I hate to see how low his value has dropped considering BB has amassed 284 points in 364 games. Perhaps he is a pure power play / shootout specialist and has been poorly deployed (given his apparent lack of foot speed (I feel like he should be 20lbs lighter) and lack of defensive commitment)? We could wait a year and hope he turns it around under the new leadership, then were possibly looking at a 1st rounder or even better, a player that is worth keeping on the roster. We only have to be cap compliant at the start of the season so i'm not sure what the harm is in signing BH and waiting to trade BB now or in the off season. Give him a chance, or ship BB out for less than what his value might become next year?
  19. If anything the management has failed to build a hockey "club" in which players want to leave it on the line each and every game for each other. You can't only just buy or trade for players and expect these kind of intangibles to work out development and on/off ice relationships are important too. The more I watch the Canucks this year it is apparent that some players are not buying in. We seem to be able to put the puck in the net, but... when it comes to working together on team defense and elevating play at key moments of the game we fail miserably, giving up large leads or starting the game down and clawing back. In this vein I think the following lineup are players who have shown commitment to each other, the coaching staff, and the overall direction of the franchise. Unfortunately the cupboard is loaded with bottom six players and bottom pairing defense. As you can see the team is not actually as strong as it appeared on paper and we were overvalued at the start of the year. (*Denotes overpaid player) IN: Forwards: Elias Pettersson Bo Horvat Andrei Kuzmenko Ilya Micheyev Vasily Podkolzin Jack Studnicka Curtis Lazar Dakota Joshua Will Lockwood Lane Pederson Sheldon Dries Defense: Quinn Hughes Ethan Bear Luke Schenn Jack Rathbone Travis Dermott Kyle Burroughs OUT: J.T. Miller Brock Boeser OEL* Tyler Myers* Connor Garland* With those players leaving the team (and also at times under-performing) we look more like an AHL team than an NHL team.
  20. Ouch, that is some bad value... i'd rather adding defense than a pick through some kind of "hockey trade" I think we should do this prior to the deadline. What players would even be available? With BB's cap hit, it is not looking good. A team would willingly have to give up on a promising D and likely eat cap in the process... All I can think of is that we're looking for a player in exchange who needs and wants a "change of scenery", despite his performance not many teams give up on 25 year old goal scorers not sure what this says about the organization (although it is clear BB is not playing his best hockey).
