  1. Holiday was a hell of a goal song too... why downgrade so much?
  2. You're aware Stutzle cherry picks constantly by refusing to help out on the defensive end? Something he and his captain have in common. That team's systems are a joke and all it does is overinflate their offensive numbers.
  3. I doubt the dinosaurs who have voting rights will be awake past 11 pm to watch Pettersson play enough to consider him winning it. Not a surprise that
  4. Kesler was a force to be reckoned with, in his prime. What a joy to watch on both ends of the puck. Defensively, I wouldn't say he was better than 2011 Malhotra, but the fact we had both on our side was a massive strength. Pettersson being among those players, while being amongst the Hughes, Draisaitl, Kucherov, MacKinnons etc... on the offensive end, displays perfectly how special he is as a player. He is the most balanced elite forward in the game.
  5. Wonder how much Montour is about to get next season..... 9+?
  6. Sorry, that was not my point. I'm saying that the actual defensive players (3Cs for example) don't get credit for the Selke nowadays. Yes, some elite defensive-minded players got Selke nominations and wins (although Kesler finally winning it the year Malhotra took over his defensive duties is quite laughable, shows how much the media watch the Canucks play), which makes Pettersson finishing in the top 10 in both points AND Selke votes all the more impressive imo. But don't mistake it, Selke votes are based purely on which forwards with high points also happen to be good defensively. After that, don't even get me started on how it's the most reputation-based trophy out there.
  7. So does Jack Hughes but he's being labelled a top 10 player in the league. You'd be hard pressed to find me a 100 point player that ends up top 10 in Selke voting. That's top 10 in scoring and top 10 in defensive prowess (amongst the elite forwards of course, since actual defensive forwards NEVER get credit for the Selke). You got Marner, who's a winger, which loses him just a tad of value in the discussion. So for me... top 10 in points + top 10 on the defensive end for forwards = top 5 forward.
  8. Pettersson was better offensively while having 20% less OZS%, on a much weaker team, and a year where he couldn't bury his one timer for half the season. THEN you add the elite defense, where he honestly got shafted ending up 7th in Selke voting, after being a projected nominee during the entire first 3/4 of the season. Basically, Pettersson's offense is better than Hughes' (and much better than the 3 point difference indicates), all while playing defense at an elite rate. Pettersson is objectively the better player. Most voters and people who create lists don't stay up until 1am to watch Pettersson play. This is no slight on Hughes, as he's an elite forward that's incredibly fun to watch. Pettersson is just a top 5 forward in the league and the media just haven't accepted it yet, mostly because they don't watch him play.
  9. Exactly. Offense is a wash, defense is a landslide win for Petey. Easy decision at this point in time.
  10. This is obviously such a cover-up. We all know they want out. Calgary hasn't found a fit yet and don't want the media to make a big deal about it. All 3 will be shipped when either Calgary find the right price, or they become desperate to recover any kind of return to the closest bidder.

  12. Luckily for us, any way out fathomable is beneficial for us in the long run. I do think that management is avoiding that at all costs, so I'm not worried either way.
  13. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/winnipeg-jets-name-adam-lowry-captain/ Centre Adam Lowry was named the Winnipeg Jets new captain on Tuesday. Lowry is the third Jets captain since the team moved from Atlanta to Winnipeg in 2011. He follows Andrew Ladd and Blake Wheeler, who served as captain for five and six years respectively. "When I found out, I was pretty excited, almost a little speechless," said Lowry in a statement. "It’s something growing up you kind of can dream about and something that seems almost unattainable. "Getting to be a captain of a Canadian NHL team is pretty special and something I’m really looking forward to." Lowry scored 13 times and added 23 assists for the Jets last season. He has 93 goals and 111 assists over nine NHL seasons, all with Winnipeg. Lowry, from St. Louis, was selected 67th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The 30-year-old was an alternate captain for the first time in the 2022-23 season along with Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele. Morrissey and Scheifele will both wear the "A" again this year. The Jets didn’t have a captain last season as head coach Rick Bowness and his staff wanted more voices in the dressing room "Mark, Adam and Josh did a great job in the room which is what we wanted," said Bowness. "We all know Adam is the first guy on the ice to stick up for his teammates. "He's a true professional, he has total respect from every player on the team, every player around the league and certainly from the coaching staff as well. We just feel at this point it’s the right time to name Adam as our captain."
  14. I agree, Miller was an excellent candidate. His voice will be heard both on and off the ice, since he is a big part of the leadership group.
  15. If you can get Tkachuk smiling during a scrum, and not antagonize and bait some of our players into penalties... isn't that a win? The 2 biggest rats (I say that in the nicest way possible since both Tkachuk's are crazy good players) in the league LOVE and RESPECT our captain more than anybody else in the league. That's a W in my books.
  16. Let a team offer that, we'll take the 4 1st rounders This whole ordeal has so many people (not counting you here, just what I see everywhere) forgetting that EP is a RFA, and we have all the control. I almost dare a team to sign him to an offer sheet. It can only be beneficial for us.
  17. Penny pinching our stars, when we have 5 wingers making 4.5 mil or more, is not the way to build a serious contender. Pettersson is the most talented all-around player we've ever had in our organization. Pay him as such, no matter the cost. In the meantime, we have Myers and 2 of Pearson/Boeser/Garland/Beauvillier to shed, and that will more than make up for Hronek and Pettersson's raises.
  18. Best pick available. Great leader, greatest defenseman in our history; battles, stands up for his team and teammates, and is clearly respected in the locker room. A massive W for us, no matter how you look at it.
  19. I see the boys really want to spend time with Myers before September 15th
  20. This. I don't think people appreciate just how well Juulsen seems to fit with Hughes. It's one of those things that shouldn't work, but somehow does (kind of like Burr with the Sedins). Physical and quick dman that seems to thrive alongside a PMD like Quinn. It's worth another extended look, especially with Bear being out for 4 more months.
