  1. Me too, but then again, I would rather have the cap space than Marleau at 6.66.
  2. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Canucks had a problem like this?
  3. I think Naslund excelled despite Messier being here. He was a shell of his former self, clearly, just here to accept the cash. There was no mentoring going on.
  4. I hear what you're saying, but neither you nor I have to decide between collecting 9 vs 13.25M per year for the next 8 years. Its all a matter of perspective. and while, as fans, we can proudly say we will accept less for the good of the team, we don't actually have to make that decision to forgo 4.25M for the next 8 years. As a player, McDavid has to make a decision about his future. A potential future in which some goofball may come along and cross check him from behind, sucker punch him in the head, take out his knees, deliver a dirty hit which may give him a concussion, etc. Notwithstanding the fact that you have zero control over the makeup of the team, and zero control of the mindset of your teammates (current and future) in offering up the same financial concessions. Now, as a player, deciding on the biggest decision of your very young life, what do you do? You going to let Drai get paid more than you? You're better than either Kane or Towes right now, you OK with letting them earn more?
  5. Trust me, if this guy was a Canuck, we would be happy to pay him $13.25M.
  6. It says a lot about how far we have fallen from our "Stanley Cup Contending" days to now wanting to sign the second coming of Alexandre Daigle.
  7. Wasn't it George McPhee that traded Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat? Maybe we have a shot here.
  8. If I'm Vegas, and I see the Canuck scraps, I might just offer a draft pick or two because I feel sorry for the poor nucks
  9. I bet these "offers on the table" are the same blank pages that Gillis had on his table when he said he had offers for Luongo.
  10. I'm not completely sold on Drouin being a superstar just yet. He did well last year in Tampa's high octane offence that has a lot of weapons. Now we will see how good he is in Montreal's pop gun offence. A team which typically goes as far as Price can carry them.
  11. Yeah the top 4 were "can't miss" superstars. But fortunately, that only worked out for our two players. And Tim Connolly had a ridiculous highlight reel. Super talented scorer.
  12. Canucks are being offered Ballard, Raymond and a first, and people are jumping all over it Oh how the mighty have fallen.
  13. Clearly, this rumour is the result of Russian hackers trying to destabilize the NHL to the benefit of the KHL. We cannot allow this to propagate! Having said that, I would be happy if the flames future were gutted.
  14. If Neely stayed with the Canucks and played the way he did with the Bruins, we would not have been in a position to draft Linden. Make no mistake about it, the Neely trade really hurt us, but getting rid of Neely was important for the Canucks. That was the end for Jack Gordon, and in came Pat Quinn. The Canucks have had some great teams since then (albeit non cup winning great teams). So yeah, it hurts to get burned in the Neely trade but a lot of good things happened after that. I always remember the radio play by play caller saying "uh oh, they hit Neely. If there's one thing you don't want to do is wake up the big kid and get him in the game".
  15. I wish them both the same fate as Fabian Brunnström
