At least he didn't pull an Eichel and say something like "I won't sign in Vancouver unless so and so is gone"....

Sheesh...give the guy a break, he misses his real home and family.

smithers there a massive reason why willies gone its because hes an awful talent utilizer  not sure what job your happy about him doing? the worst offensive output in canuck history? the lack of pp or pk units? the 29th overal finish? the most to many men penalties?

i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. i don't expect others to agree with my opinions.

  2. Can't wait to hear the 1040 guys lose their minds this morning on mgmt allowing Tryamkin to get away lol. Canuckluck

if he wanted to be here, he would be a team player like burr was. people will probably blame willie for his ice time. the defense coach plays the guys he believes helps the team win. nikita was improving every game and had a bright future. but if you don't want to be here...see ya.

Dave Pratt just has to show up at work and open up the phone boards. Life's good.

Whatever Pratt predicts just pick the opposite. He's that bad.

  3. Yes, I was thinking add a bit of that Bertuzzi net drive and even if he doesn't score he's going to create oppty's for his linemates to clean up the garbage I'd also like to see him in that 20 ft danger zone in front of the net alot more. Scoring greasy goals like Burr and Hansen is the way for him to go from 20 goal potential in the NHL to 30..with his size he should be there more often This is why I think he needs another year, start scoring from the dirty areas (going there more) and ensure the other parts of this game are ready for the big leagues I however am REALLY impressed at how different he looks relative to when he was with the Canucks - he looks (albeit only his highlights and he didn't put up big numbers), alot more like the player they expected when they drafted. Green seems to be doing a good job with him if that video is representative of his effort and play.
  4. I'd like to see them give him one more year in the AHL regardless of how he does in camp. Let's not repeat the same error of rushing him again just because he seems to be on the cusp of being ready. That video is night and day from his performance in the NHL so clearly he's improving - I'd rather have him go down, hone the things he still needs to work on, start dominating offensively at that level and come up with confidence and polish to his game They often say, you want players who when they get called up, never look back - give him a year to get to that point. Just my opinion
  5. Excellent video thanks for sharing my comments 1. Granted its only a highlight video and of is offensive impact but he certainly looks to have improved ALOT - more confident with the puck, using his speed to go wide and his shot has always been teir 1 NHL quality 2. He does seem to score alot from the outside still and would have liked to see him score a few more greasy goals 3. He's driving the net more but needs to really charge harder in my view vs some of his outside shots, and related to those, seems he chooses sometimes to take a shot when he doesn't have much of an angle or traffic crashing to look for a rebound - he needs to know at those times you either drive the net or use your speed and take the puck deep behind the net and wait for help. Minor but you cant afford to do that in the NHL as that's just giving the puck away Regardless, its good to see him looking like he's improved and showing more flashes of what he can be. Green seems to be getting through to him, now just add more physicality, attention to details (like above and defensively) and he'll be NHL ready - one more year in the AHL to cement things together and he should be ready for a real hard look with the Canucks.
  6. you compared them to gretz by saying gretz went straight to the oilers from th WHA - it was your example = comparison agree lets move on
  7. Highlighted areas 1. Who your daddy played for doesn't mean you have hockey knowledge bud, my dad was an architect, it doesn't make me an expert on architecture - your comments dictate your knowledge nothing else 2. Never said anything about Gretzky and are you really comparing Patrick and Hirchier to Gretz? LOL by implication that IS your argument - oh my 3. No, Hirschier is not Bigger than sutter LOL look it up not going to waste my time giving it to you since you keep posting nonsense and incorrect information. And there's also something called 'man strength' which clearly you ignore even on Patrick who again has been oft injured by JUNIOR Players - thus leading to a view that he may be better served to take a year to gain more man strength much like Juolevi - and clearly Hirchier needs that year - just because you have the talent to play doesn't mean its smart to play a guy in the NHL right away 4. Pulijarvi was my point - bigger, better, faster than both of those players top 3 last year would be first over all this year no brainer and he is in the AHL - now that's a comp son not gretzky Sorry you lose-seems I to have to repeat myself since you cant comprehend the idea that you lost the debate -sigh toodles
  8. 1. You said make room for the young guys and where would that leave sutter - you went on to name WINGERS - perhaps write more clearly if you dont want to be misunderstood 2. Virtanen by all logic will not make the team right out of camp next year, no I don't know for sure but I also use my BRAIN and look at progression. He still has ALOT to learn despite his progression and that's fact - they aren't going to rush him back after only 30+ games in the AHL - they are going to be 100% positive he's ready not 'test him out again' given how poorly that went last time - LOGIC 3. Very easy for Hirschier or Patrick to stay in junior and given neither of those guys AGAIN is better than sutter at this stage they are not going rush players onto the team. Look at most of the players from last year's draft. Moreover, given Hirchier needs to add size, and Patrick likely needs to properly rehab so he doesn't get injured again, neither is likely to make an NHL team next year despite talent - again COMMON sense - either better than Pulijarvi? Neither is bigger either - where is he? AHL 4. Typical tanker? Actually no, I just get how the Canucks think about development -and its not by rushing players and busting them when they are not ready for the role they will take on and not suited for the role they would have right now. Ie Neither Hirchier or Patrick is going to be playing 3/4c for us so you don't put them in that position in their rookie year when they aren't even ready for it. How did that work out for McCann? You realize MOST players drafted go back to their junior team in their draft +1 year right? Bo went back, Getzlaf, Perry on and on . This site seems to think its some indictiment of a player if he goes back, no its making sure they are physically and mentally ready to take on MEN. Hirschier is 175 lbs guy. 5. On Dahlen - he's even lighter than Hirchier - good luck bringing a winger in with that weight when our top 9 wingers are already spoken for and he needs to adjust to the NHL game - common sense - where's he going to fit in? Baer/Boeser/Granny/Erickson/Goldobin/Sedin Finally, If you think either of those players (hirchier/patrick) can contribute MORE than Brandon Sutter can in a 3c or 2c role at this stage of their respective careers you certainly dont know much about hockey sorry
  9. 1. Sutter is not the odd man out if we land a center as you are assuming some rookie will be 'better' and more ready that sutter- shiny new car sydrome buddy - sorry but reality is whomever we draft is not better than sutter in September - maybe in 3 years. 2. Yes we need anothr top 6 center - IN THE FUTURE - again next year we have Hank/Bo/Sutter as our top three no issues there. 3. Chaput was 54% in the circle, is 23 years old 210 lbs and skates very well. He certainly could be a 3rd line center long term for this team (again you are not looking at MY POINT that this would be 2-3 years out). 4.Virtanen is not making the team and shoving Sutter out of the lineup LOL - dude really? 5. Granny is clearly better on the wing and is likely staying there 6. Dahlen won't be ready he's too small physically - he's a year or two in the AHL to gain size and get accustomed to north american hockey 7. Erikson, Jake, Goldy, Boeser are all wingers Your comments have alot of errors and false assumptions in them sorry
  10. Jeez, Boudreau really has a curse when it comes to the playoffs. But  I guesss going to team playoff choke wasn't a great idea either!

  11. dont think we care about the next few years - goal is 2-3 year out to start being a contender also its Nolan Patrick not Patrick Nolan Also point was Nuge is also not quality 2nd line center -he's small and soft Next year Bo Henrik Sutter Then you sign a stop gap 3c if needed for one year while you wait on who we drafted Bo Sutter 3c/Guance/Chaput/Casells
  12. no chance- RNH sure lines up well against the Getzlaf/Kesler/Toews type players hey People rag on Sutter way too much -17 goals on a crap team, takes the heavy defensive minutes, good in the circle - he's Kesler lite - a good 2c when needed and an excellent 3c Plays hard, kills penalties, has speed, decent size - he's not a full time 2c and that's the issue.
  13. RNH is junk - no softies please
  14. If you watch Willie's exit presser you will glean some interesting comments / insight on both Virtanen and McCann - nothing new but clearly shows they were both cocky and immature. Willie said something to the effect of 'they (JV/JM) likely didn't think I got through to them", then went on to say some players aren't "Ready to learn, Boeser is ready to learn" So what that says is JV's issue is likely maturity, thinking he was the man and had 'made it' like many here said, and too many buddies pumping his tires making him think he was a celeb/star already and should be hanging with Bieber the day before a game. Moving him to Utica was clearly a good move and has apparently been a bit of a shot to his oversized ego, enough to likely reign it in now. Not to mention the fact that competition on the wings in the top 6 is not heated with Baer/Granny/Goldy/Boeser clearly showing they are legit (or can be in Goldy/Boeser's case) top 6 players, leaving no real holes in those spots (and lets not forget Dahlen). Green has stated he's learning, that was Willie's issue with him -some players are about skills, some about hockey IQ, combination thereof and some also have issues of maturity at a young age (as many do at that age). If his biggest issue was being willing to learn, and he's showing he's learning, maybe its time to be a bit patient.
  15. I'm not a smoker of it but its alot less damaging that alcohol long term and has medicinal benefits - i think those opposing it are heavily funded by the alcohol and tabocco lobby as all studies suggest it will heavily impact those industries
  16. Disagree slightly - our top 3 lines are going to be fairly interchangable given the decline of the twins, improvement of Bo and Baer but not 'quite' ready to be true #1's and the young players we have Personally, I see a 'top 9' vs a 1st / 2nd / 3rd line - My view Boeser (assuming he works on his quickness offseason) and Goldobin make the team and we see three very balanced lines Baer Bo Boeser Sedin Sedin Goldobin /Granlund Erickson Sutter / Granlund / Goldobin Boucher will be depth I would love to see the twins split and these lines but doubt they do it Baer Bo Boeser Erickson Sedin Granlund Sedin Sutter Goldobin
  17. Juice and Ferkland went at it, now just need Kesler to take out Tkachuk and his smirk and I can go to bed!

      Rubik

Which line is he playing on in Edmonton?

    3. Boeser6

      Boeser6

@Rubik third line- and playing very well and playing first PK! so much for he can't play defense! His goal last night was a shorty, that he created by interfering with a pass/shot from the point and a nice feed from his partner for a breakaway.

    4. Rubik

      Rubik

Pavelski simply lost control over the puck. Kassian just happened to be there, it was pure luck. The breakaway itself was pretty though. The point is, he's 26 years old. We were told that he will be the next Bertuzzi. When Bertuzzi was around 26, he scored 25-36 goals, and 55-85 points. This year Kassian played a full season (79 games), scored 7 goals, 24 pts. He's playing third line minutes. I'm happy he's playing better, but this isn't his ceiling. It's just a different role. He failed to live up to everybody's expectations. He stayed in the NHL (for now) unlike Hodgson. Is this what you call a turn around? I wish him the best, I really do but this is not a success story.

  19. defensive positioning- teach him 'how to play the right way' first - make it easier being on the right side given he's a right shot, then move him back to his offwing
  20. Two clips do not make a career bro - I live just outside Toronto and watch pretty much 75% of their games He's a perimeter player
  21. I meant prior to being sent down - he seemed to have some issue physically that has likely improved and rumour was shoulder
  22. I think it was shoulder, he seemed to stop hitting completely this year, something was wrong with him.
  23. Boeser scores alot of goals (if you look at his highlights) from the dirty areas and drives the net - Nylander is soft - effective so far but soft - this playoffs will be interesting to watch him (though he is playing with Matthews) and see how he performs. He is very much a permiter player there is no doubt if you have watched him and he would not have been as close to effective on the Canucks or any team without the offensive depth of the leafs - ie having to drive the bus vs support it would does not work well for permiter players. He may learn from this playoffs but in terms of what it takes to score at this time of the year - he doesn't have it (unless its PP / paired with a guy like Matthews) Your argument would be better served with Ehlers v Virtanen as at least Ehlers goes hard to the net, even with limited size Personally, I prefer Virtanen with this group now (assuming we can develop him properly), as what he "may" bring will be much more valuable come playoff time. And to note, at the draft I wanted Ehlers as he reminded me alot of Nazzy.
  24. Hitchcock named Stars Coach / Gallant to Las Vegas hmm

    1. JM_

      JM_

good hire by Vegas. I think this deal was in the works for a while and we never had a shot at Gallant.

Not sure Hitch is really that much of a change from Ruff, but I also don't really care what happens in Dallas tbh.

    2. Boeser6

      Boeser6

Hitch is better defensively and clearly they need help there!
