  1. Canucks call up Anton Rodin from Utica

    about time. great move
  2. [Official] 2017 Training Camp Thread

couldn't have said that better. I think he is one of the more underrated players. It would be great to see the young man given a real opportunity. Play him with the Sedins in one of the remaining preseason games.
  3. 2017-2018 line up (with what we have)

Good point. Horvat is not your traditional pass first centerman. However he does have the ability to feed the puck to players in position (Vanek). Horvat adds the two way game that Vanek lacks at times. In game switch of adding a playmaking winger (Rodin - left shoot feeding a right shoot playing the LW) to the line and/or occasionally moving Vanek to the Grandlund/Baer line. Right again on Sutter as the shutdown center. Shutdown role is a 6 man unit with your Tender serving as your number 1 shutdown player. A 2-1-2 formation helps accomplish that. 2 (Edler & Tanev on Defensive draws/game management role). 1 (Sutter in the middle providing the puke pressure role/star line shadowing). 2 (Burmistrov & Gagner with the counter attack. Speed, skill, playmaking & finish). Furthermore Burmistrov is pretty dependable defensively. Gagner provides your offensive counter punch to a defensive line

i like the coaches vision of what kind of team he wants on the ice. A team that is balanced and plays with some speed on every line. i like that he doesn't employ the traditional 1st - 4th line approach but believes that every individual is an important piece of the team. The most optimal 13 forward line combination with what we have that also accounts for when injuries occur are: LINE A: D Sedin - H Sedin - A Rodin Rodin adds speed and puck retrieval to the line. He is a versatile winger with skill, hockey smarts and finish. He has the smarts to complement the Sedin cycle game, adds foot speed to the line, and ability to finish in the dirty area among others. In games where we need to shorten the bench or if injuries occur alternate player(s): Markus Grandlund, L Eriksson LINE B: T Vanek - B Horvat - B Boeser T Vanek at his best is most effective playing the LW. He adds net presence and finish. He is most effective with a proficient workhorse two way center. Horvat fits the mold of that center (think of Chris Drury in Buffalo on a line with Vanek). Bo adds the defensive awareness and puck battle that Vanek lacks. Boeser adds the snip element to the line (D Briere like) with Vanek big body battling for net presence and loose rubber. In game switches or when Injuries occur: S Baertschi (LW), A Rodin (RW), Virtanen (Utica call up insert on LW) LINE C: S Baertschi - M Granlund - L Eriksson Granlund is a versitle play that makes players around him better. A speedy right shot playmaking center with a great deceptive release. Baertchi adds playmaking on the wing that complements the aforementioned wingers. L Erikksson adds the net presence and battle in front of the net for loose rubber. In game switches or injuries: T Vanek, S Gagner, B Sutter LINE D: A Burmistrov - B Sutter - S Gagner Burmistrov adds playmaking on the wing. Sutter provides the defensive pawl and Gagner the finish. Dorsett draws in and out based on opponent and injuries. Virtanen starts in Utica and the first call up. Cements a roster spot after trade deadline PAIR A: Edler - Stecher Edler plays better when he doesn't handle the rubber much, less mobile and playing the more defensive role and catching forwards with the big hit (think his success in international stage). Stecher adds mobility and plays the primary puck movement role. serving as the fourth forward on rushes with Edler staying back. Tanev draws in on defensive starts with Edler. Chatfield (RD) can insert as a Utica Call up. PAIR B: Hutton - Tanev Tanev plays the Hutton safety stay back D role with the occassional sneak into the offensive zone on line changes. Hutton plays the forth forward role on plays. Both D are equally adapt at moving the puck up ice with Hutton doing majority of the carry. MDZ can interchange with Hutton depending on compete level to keep Hutton honest. Holms, Chatfield as Utica call up PAIR C: MDZ - Gudbranson MDZ does the puke moving role with Gudbranson as the stay home physical D. Gudbranson provides team sandpapier from the backend. Wiercioch keeps MDZ honest. Pedan as Utica call up PAIR D: Wiercioch - Biega vet D that will remain pros and in game shape when called on. Wiercioch has decent puck moving skills and draws in the line up for a LW D that is injuried or can benefit from watching the game from a press box. Biega serves the purpose of been able to draw in as an energy forward with grit and/or RD complementary piece. Having Biega on the teams gives the team 2 extra forwards (Dorsett & Biega) & 2 extra Dmen (Wiercioch & Biega)

  10. 2017-2018 line up (with what we have)

actually watched. trying watching the earlier games with Baertschi - Hovart - Rodin Compared to Boeser on it. Not saying Boeser is a lesser player. I quite believe that he is talented. the line had far better jump, chemistry and scoring chances with Rodin on it.
  11. 2017-2018 line up (with what we have)

Rodin appears to be the complimentary piece the line needs with his play making abilities. In his short stint i thought the line was more effective than when Boeser was on that line (not saying Boeser is less talented). I see Boeser been more effective on a line where he is the star. My thought was more of taking a balanced approach. Not a fan of classifying lines (top 6 or bottom 6). I subscribe to the idea of rolling lines evenly thus reducing player fatigue. i find fatigue hinders productivity. load up a line once in a while to keep opposing teams guessing.
  12. 2017-2018 line up (with what we have)

    4 balanced line with offensive threat on each. Sedin - Sedin - Sutter 17mins Baertschi - Horvat - Rodin 17mins Eriksson - Granlund - Gagner 13 mins Burmistrov - Gaunce - Boeser 13 mins Dorsett Edler - Stecher/ Del Zotto 20mins Joulevi(sp) - Tanev 20mins Hutton - Gudbranson 20 mins Del Zotto/Stecher - Pedan
  13. Jake Virtanen | #18 | RW

could definitely see these lines working Virtanen (LW) - Pattersson - Dahlen (RW) Gadjovick(LW) - Gaudette - Kole Lind (RW) Sven B (LW) - Horvat - Rodin (RW) Boeser - Gaunce - Goldobin (RW) Gaunce is most effective at center. His style reminds me of Drasital. Needs to emulate him
  14. Jake Virtanen | #18 | RW

same observation. Virtanen is most effective on left wing. His one timers 5 on 5 from that wing are lethal and he tends to drive the net as well. On right wing he tends to shoot less. simply carries the poke around the net and out with no purpose. Dahlen is most effective on right wing . On the powerplay Boeser is most effective from the LW as well.

well said. glad to see more true fans
